The room was very nice! Traditional, and it was right in the middle of Beppu. We accidentally found a cute place for oden literally 2 minutes away. Also the staff were so helpful. I left my AirPods there and called about a week after my visit, and they worked with me and my broken Japanese until they eventually found it and were able to ship it to me. Definitely above and beyond

Honestly the only downside is that the in room Onsen is criminally hot. 🥵 I briefly sat inside it, and it was painful to move, and I tried multiple times to dip my hands in the water, but I felt them cooking every time! 😳 Stick with the public onsens imo

The room is large enough for our family of 4 sleeping on the futon is nice and comfy we enjoyed the sumptous meals are served in the private dining rooms at L1 The in-room onsen is a good experience Location is not fantastic but we appreciate the free parking and convenience of loading luggage [lift in building]

The private outdoor onsen [shared on 1st come 1st served basis] looks beautiful but the onsen water wasn't so clean bcos of many people using - so please be careful. We found lots of hair and stuff floating inside the water and hopped out immediately.

I am very impressed with Mr Ohioans Kazuya during our check in . He was very polite and did all his best to make sure we understood what the property is providing . Though he speaks minimum English but he was determined to make us understand him . As my hubby has to park at their second carpark, he volunteered to help us with our luggage to our room . Mr Kazuya has elevated the whole level of service in the property. I really hope to visit this property in the near future ! All the best Mr Kazuya! You make our day 😊

One private onsen was quite run down .

The staff was very friendly but most of them only know Japanese. There was a private onsen in our room and also one onsen half outside which could be used in private. The third big onsen was public. The room was very spacious and clean with a beautiful traditional Japanese look. You also get Yukatas you can wear for breakfast or when you go to the onsen. The breakfast was very traditional Japanese (rice, miso soup, fish). Close to all tourist spots of Beppu (15 minute walk to Beppu Hells, the observatory deck, Oita fragrance museum, …)!

If you don’t like traditional breakfast, you better not book the breakfast option. There are no other entertainment offers like in other Ryokans (e.g. no bingo, karaoke, books, …).

Amazingly helpful staff, explained all the intricacies of using the Onsen etc as we were first timers at a Ryokan. The private baths and the big public bath are wonderful and the view from the room over Beppu was fabulous. On arrival they immediately swapped out our Yukata for all the correct sizes and perfectly laid out the room with the right amount of futons as requested since they had no way to know our sizes/preferences through Booking.com beforehand. Exceptionally quiet and peaceful for being in the heart of a big city. Highly recommend.

We had a beautiful room with amazing views and the private onsen in our room was nice. We could also use a private outdoor onsen. Dinner and breakfast were huge!

You should note that the hotel is very close to a busy road and you can hear the cars in the outdoor onsen.

Hello, I am writing this, because I really enjoyed this stay. This was our first Japan trip and everyone was kind and we were well treated. We really wanted to extend our stay. We are all grateful to all of the Staff. We are very much appreciative of to staff and stay. I would definitely come back again and stay longer. I was worried about communication but they were all open-eared and they tried their best to understand our needs and inquiries. I've been to many countries and many hotels but I never had thought that I want to consistently visit whenever I can and feel here as a vacation home. My partner is also the same and wanted to write thank you letter if there was time. Overall, thank you for your service.

The room was a very spacious and beautiful Japanese-style room. We booked a room with a private onsen overlooking the city and it was very peaceful and relaxing. The staff were very helpful in using a translator to explain the details and layout of our room and the ryokan.

Location was a bit difficult to access. It's on a busy main road. They weren't able to accommodate for a vegetarian or vegan breakfast and were unable to provide a discount (but this may have been because of how bookings work on this website).

The food was incredible, and the staff were amazing and extremely helpful. The onsens were perfect. Truly a great traditional Japanese ryokan.

The futon was difficult to sleep in, but as someone who has never slept in one that is expected.

Spacious tatami room with a nice hot bath. The outdoor private bath was enjoyable. They also have indoor private baths & separate male / female public baths. Traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner is nice too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Caters well to english speaking visitors.

Not a fan of the pillows provided.
