This is a large, excellently situated hotel very close to Namba station and in the heart of Osaka’s nightlife. In spite of this it was quiet and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. One of them was particularly helpful with our luggage transfer. We had a family room which was very spacious by Japanese standards. The décor is a bit old fashioned - gold and marble - but it’s in great condition, no complaints at all about that. The beds were comfortable and there was powerful A/C in the room. The bath and shower in our room were spacious and very nice to use. The whole hotel was very clean. The Sake tasting tickets were good. Breakfast buffet is available but is over ¥2000 per person - we got breakfast at nearby bakeries instead.

My only slight negative is that the lobby smelt slightly of cigarette smoke, there might be a smoking room down there. The floor plan showed that most of the rooms were nowhere near as big as the family room we booked, which had 3 beds and a sofa bed and gave us tons of space.

The real highlights were the welcome lounge, incredible breakfast, and the ability to vacuum suck our clothing pre departure. The hotel is close to the train station and in the heart of the neon light district.

Even though our room was no smoking, our floor smelt of it every time the elevator doors opened. As a non-smoker, it was offensive to feel like we too and our belongings were absorbing that smell. The beds were average, and the carpet and walls were not clean. The lady at check-in was the least interested Japanese person we came across on our 2 week trip.

Good ameneties - complimentary lounge food and beverages. Free laundry is also convenient for travelers who stay for long periods.

Headboard where the room light switches are was dusty, probably because it’s hard to reach with the limited space. Laundry machine management software could do better. Some guests are using too many machines at the same time. Maybe hotel can implement some limitations during peak use periods will be a good start. Hotel needs to assign staff during those same peak hours to keep the cleanliness because some guests are not responsible enough to clean up their mess after they’re done.

Excellent location. Though it’s in the heart of the busy Dotonburi but once you’re inside the hotel it is pleasantly quiet with spacious public areas. Pleasant surprises with: Lounge is open 2-10pm with generous assortments of drinks and tidbits complimentary for guests (family friendly). It’s on the same floor as the lobby and guest laundry room. The best laundry facilities I’ve seen in Japan as not only is it free, there are about 10 washers and 10 dryers available and it’s nicely set up like a living room with some boardgames and a beverage machine should you decide to wait for your laundry listening to soothing spa-like music. There’s an ironing section and a packing compressor too. All free for guests. Mornings the best time to go as it gets busy in the evening. Room to lock your luggage for early arrival/late departure is spacious and easy to use. Definitely Impressed with the level of thoughts put in for the usage for the guests. Rooms are good size, clean and comfortable.

Maybe a few more hooks in the washroom and a few more hangers in the closet although this is typical for all hotels.

A lovely hotel with nice amenities. Laundry and Welcome lounge is a huge plus. Just be aware they are well used...very clean still. Vacuum sealer for clothes is a genius addition. Large self serve baggage storage area free to guests. Rooms are nice and somewhat quiet (not a lot of noise outside anyway). Not as clean as I'd like but acceptable. I definitely made use of the disinfectant they provided. Mini-fridge, coffee maker, kettle, safe and hairdryer in room. Pajamas, soap, shampoo/conditioner, qtips, cotton pads, brush, razor, and toothbrush/toothpaste provided. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast should be pre-purchased if not included. Large buffet with selection. It does fill up at opening so you may have to wait. Popular hotel so elevators and lounges can get busy. Location is near a few train stations so easy to get to. Covered pedestrian street outside. Minutes to Dontonburi. Nankai railway airport express to KIX is nearby (rapi:t) Super convenient (and with escalators so no carrying luggage up stairs)

Staff was fantastic and friendly. Excellent location for people who wants to be near to almost everything (train, shopping, food, games, attractions). Awesome complimentary lounge services and laundry facilities for guests. Keep up the good work.

To us, the rooms are bit warm even when we lowered the temperature. However, we do understand it is winter time and most people might prefer warmer rooms instead. There are some stains on the carpets but not a big deal to us. Overall, rooms are excellent and we enjoyed our stay. We do dislike the guests who are loud, inconsiderate and rude to the staff and other guests.

Location was fab and the hotel was quiet despite being in the middle of Namba. Bed was comfy and room was very clean and was larger than we expected. Loved the guest lounge which had a good range of drinks and snacks. Staff were helpful about receiving and sending on our suitcases.

Our room was very dated and needed a refresh. Marks on the walls and carpet. The luggage room does not have enough secure lockers so we had to use a coin operated locker outside the hotel to store our backpacks before we could check in, but there is one literally next to the hotel so wasn't a massive deal.

Great location near the station, restaurants, shops - super convenient with kids. Sake from 3 pm to 8 pm at the lobby was great.

Take note to clarify on the number of beds per room. I had a booking for 2 adults and 2 children in a room but only 2 beds were provided and the staff could not let me have an additional bed as the housekeeping had gone home for the day (at 2 pm). Thankfully the receptionist and I managed to brainstorm for solutions and in the end I decided to upgrade the room - which worked out well.

Location was prime. Right in central Namba. Super easy to get to anywhere from the hotel. It's right in the middle of a shopping arcade, so plenty of food options well into the night. Unlike a lot of other hotels on this trip, this hotel had plenty of elevators and I didn't have to spend much time waiting for one. The rooms were comfortable and bathroom was reasonably sized. The front desk was also able to ship our bags via delivery service direct from the hotel. They even called our next hotel to confirm they could send.

Only minor complaint is that there's a two stage elevator. You have to take one from ground to lobby, then take another from lobby to room floor.

I MUST correct my review. First - I want to apologize to Namba Oriental Hotel - I was wrong about my Porter bag. My husband packed my Porter bag and I didn’t know he did. I didn’t think of asking him if he knew where the Porter bag was. I am very sorry for doubting the integrity of the hotel and their staff. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious, the location is convenient for all the attractions, shopping in Osaka. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and always had a smile on their faces. I would highly recommend Namba Oriental Hotel, I definitely would stay here again.

Nothing much.
