Comfortable and great value hotel in a good location close to the markets, sake breweries and restaurants. Within an easy walk to the station. Bathroom was old but clean and fully functional. Staff were friendly and helpful particularly the young lady. Free breakfast was buffet and consisted of boiled eggs, toast and croissants with jam.

Lack of coffee and milk in the rooms however you could help yourself to coffee in the lobby.

Conveniently located a few minutes walk from the JT Train Station. A short walk over the river to the morning markets and located in the historical area with plenty of food choices nearby. A nice touch was the free breakfast which I didn't try but it looked fresh and smelt nice.

Previous reviews mentioned an odour which I think was from stale air freshener and a renovation would be good to raise the rating from 8 to 10. A bit dated and needs a bit of a freshen up but it was OK.

Central location two blocks from a Family Mart with a short walk to the bus/train station and preservation district. Older property and small room but had a clean environment and pleasant staff. A simple but sufficient breakfast was provided. I used the laundry room several times which was clean, easy to use, and inexpensive.

Good location. Simple but tasty included breakfast of toast, boiled eggs, croissants, jams and unlimited coffee from a decent espresso machine. Tatami beds not very comfortable honestly. Even doubling them up still provided quite a hard bed. Window blind did little to block out light, meaning waking up at 5.30am every morning. For the price paid though, pretty good overall.

The location was great, only 20 minutes to get to most of the nearby attractions. Train and Bus station were only 10 minutes away, and the hotel is sat right next to a very pretty shrine. Very convenient as well to have alcohol in the vending machine downstairs, as well as onsite coin laundry and microwave. They also have boots for rent which would be great come the snowy season. Staff were all very friendly. Mattress was very comfortable.

Unlike the mattress, the pillow killed my neck and back after the first night. It’s one of those Japanese pillows that is filled with what I imagine are beans, so easy to mould into shape but very hard to lay on. I think if it was softer I would have enjoyed my stay more.

Overall, a great hotel nearby the main attractions of Takayama I would say it's more on the hostel side, but this is what's important that you have a great room to come back when you need to go to sleep. It's comfortable and close nothing out of the ordinary. The stuff was nice. The room was comfortable. It was clean every day. this is all I needed.

It was close to the train station. Convenient stores were close by. The room was big enough for two average size adults. Bathroom was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast provided was light and simple: bread, milk bun and croissant with the usual spreads, hard boiled egg and tea/coffee and juice. The coffee was excellent.

There isn't a bigger rubbish bin that we could throw our trash in. So on a few mornings, we had to give a bag of rubbish to the front receptionist, which isn't the most pleasant experience.

Very central location. close to all major points you want to visit in Takayama. The staff was ok. Some of them speak English a little better than other.

Breakfast was a bit weak - don't think it is worth it. Laundry service - some of the machines not worked. Most of the "recommended" restaurants in the area are "tourist trap" - totally overpriced and overrated.

Staff were super welcoming and helpful. Location very close to train station and Old town. Rooms were a tad small but well equipped and comfortable. There was free breakfast and use of the dining room and microwave.

The sound insulation was not great so was a bit noisy at times but only during ‘social hours’. Not a deterrent.

Lovely budget hotel that provided good value for money in a central location half way between the train station and old town. My room was comfortable and had a private bathroom with bath tub, and the included breakfast was simple but satisfying.
