Loved everything about our stay at this hotel! Exceeded our expectations in every way. Firstly the hotel is beautiful, immaculately clean and in a perfect location. From the time you enter, the staff are exceedingly friendly, helpful and so kind. The checkin process is semi-automated but a wonderful and modern experience and staff guide you through it. The hotel has a beautiful aesthetic and attention to detail. Provides options for local activities and food, laundry services, smart TV. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. We used the onsen on site and what a delightful and calming experience. The laundry service was easy to use. They have washer/dryers so you don’t need to worry about switching your laundry between machines. We walked everywhere and found the hotel to be perfectly located and easy to find our way back. Can’t say enough nice things about our stay. The hotel is doing things right and has a modern approach that we enjoyed. Would definitely return to Takayama to stay at this hotel again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The location and the rooms itself. It looks like a very new hotel and the private bath was great as well

The breakfast was amazing! We had the Japanese-style breakfast most days, but I had the Western-style one day and that was also good. The onsen was another highlight. It is indoors and on the basement level, but there is a nice Japanese garden outside the window. The lobby and style of the hotel is modern. The staff were friendly. Most had limited English, but they were always able to help with our questions. We also really enjoyed renting the electric bikes from the hotel. Takayama is a great town to bike around and the rental rate was very reasonable.

Not a big deal, but the big parking lot out front gives a bit of a suburban or airport hotel feel on arrival.

A convenience store is also nearby for any quick needs. The staff is incredibly helpful, offering great advice on hotel bookings and even assisting with taxi reservations. The breakfast offers three unique options, which are definitely worth trying. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice for anyone visiting the area.

The hotel is very conveniently located near Takayama Station, and is easy to find and walk to. The whole hotel has a classy, airy feel and staff were welcoming from the first time we stepped in the door. Our King room was very large, well appointed, comfortable and warm. We used a number of the hotel’s facilities, including the bar and restaurant, and enjoyed both the breakfast and dinner we had. We (two couples) all commented on how nice the hotel was overall, and how friendly and professional the staff were. We would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arose. Thank you!

The positioning of lights, and light switches, in our room was a touch quirky but this is a very minor quibble.

This hotel is an all round winner. Superb location: Short walk in a straight line along the main road from Takayama JR and Nohi Bus Center. Plenty of restaurants and a Family Mart just across the road. Family room: Love the beautiful tatami room style Family Room with 4 single beds. Spring mattresses and fluffy pillows. Lots of space for meals together at the table, a pantry, and well-thought layout that provides space to stow away three suitcases. Beautiful public spaces: Love the Good Local area in the lobby that recommends local merchants to support and cultural finds and sells a small selection of local produce. Laundry room: Six machines that can be monitored on the TV in room.

Nothing to complainabout! I wish there are more Hotel Around properties all over Japan, so I can use them wherever I go.

Great service and super facilities. Beds were a bit hard, but family room was large and comfy for family of 4 people. Breakfast was good. Despite paying for 4 people for the room, to include breakfast, we were told that the children didn’t count and that we needed to pay for them separately. I found this to be an odd and confusing rule. Had a disappointing experience in the restaurant. We had a reservation, placed our order and waited almost an hour to get pasta. Staff was apologetic, but it was very frustrating.

Friendly staff, secure luggage storage before check-in and after check-out, great location very close to the train and bus stations. Everything was very pretty and modern. We really enjoyed the public onsen which was really clean and had all the amenities. For a small extra charge, you can also make a reservation for the private onsen at the reception. Highly recommend! One of the best places we stayed in Japan.

Big comfortable room, quiet, good beds. The location is perfect right next to the station. Very nice onseen including a private one you can rent out for 45 min for quite cheap price. Very nice loungewear and local shop promoting the region's products.

The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. We choose continental breakfast but it felt more like a lunch menu than a brekkie. In any case better not to expect butter, bread and cheese in Japan, it's not common to find these things.
