Well located hotel close to the station, with many places of interest within walking distance, and easy access to buses for those further afield such as the excellent Hida no Sato open air folk museum. The hotel itself offers lots of free extras such as a food and drink happy hour in which guests can have one dish (for as long as it lasts - be quick!) and one drink for free. The breakfast offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes plus a few western items such as croissants and cereal, and a bonus is a little dish of Hida beef and tofu in a delicious sauce which is brought to your table for you to cook over a mini barbecue! You also get a free drink (beer or a soft drink) if you are staying more than one night and choose not to have your room cleaned.

Yes, small rooms are a feature of Japanese hotels, but some use the available space better than others. This one was not so good, it was very difficult to find space to put everything, no storage under the bed, no little corners to leave stuff.

Nothing too fancy, but an all around solid option if you are looking for a great value in a good location in Takayama. Clean and comfortable. Typical Japanese business hotel. I’d say the room is slightly larger than most other hotels in this category. Public onsen available. One free drink during “happy hour” between 6-8p. On weeknights you can get a small serving of curry and rice, though I did not try it. They also have a bunch of free bathroom amenities available in the lobby if needed, as well as tea and instant coffee—packets to take back to your room and make. Really nothing to complain about.

Laundry facilities are only on some of the floors. But I had no issues getting mine done when I needed, just had to hop down a floor.

Modern and clean. Breakfast is rich in variety, and the area is super comfortable and beautiful. Our room is equipped with an extra wash basin outside the bathroom, which is a bonus. The 2 onsen are amazing, especially the traditional outdoor one with garden and gazebo. A female staff member in the reception named Uwami was very helpful and presentable. She gave us ideas of where to eat and helped us make a reservation. Our stay is memorable.

The size of the room is a bit small for 3 adults to stay as we chose the Japanese style room(main building). The air conditioning also created some noise of low frequency, which disturbed our sleep.

Fantastic location for me as it’s only 2mins from Takayama train station, 4 mins away from the bus station, and less than 10min walk to the Miyagawa river (and morning market) and Kamisannomachi. Directly across from the hotel is Geo Takayama Showa, which is a massive store offering thousands of Manga and DVD’s. A Daily Yamazaki is another 2mins away and the Boss Food Supermarket is just a short walk west of there. The room was very clean and modern, plenty of amenities on offer. I never got to try the public bath only because I was so busy getting out each day. My room bath was perfect and I loved the natural light that shined into my room. The hotels offer free curry (one plate per person) every evening until it runs out then a free drink after during happy hour. Definitely recommend staying here.

everything: staff, location, outstanding breakfast, comfortable room! especially the breakfast. they offered Hida beef for breakfast and 2 varieties of tofu which we enjoyed very much. they also offer free alcoholic drinks and curry rice from 6-8 pm every night. amazing! plus onsen and massage chair, and free coffee 24x7! strongly recommended! :D

there was no blackout curtain and it gets bright very early from 430 am! hard to sleep in the early morning. :( if staff can speak better English, it would help. not a big issue though. :)

Comfy rooms and pajamas, good breakfast. The manga library and lobby massage chairs are fun bonuses, and providing HDMI cables to easily connect laptop to the room TV is a nice touch!

Bummer that the lobby massage chairs were only turned on in the afternoon and evening. Luggage storage was also out in the middle of the lobby - it seems a more secure location could be used.

It's a very modern hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. We enjoyed the veggies and fruits available for breakfast - amazing oranges. The onsen was very clean. Good location right next to the train station though on the opposite site to most attractions.

The room is small. When you open the window you will hear the trains or smell the fast foods restaurants. The coffee at breakfast was very weak.

A very short walk from the back of the train station. Macdonald's is just next door. Further down the road there is a mini mart. Tourist spots within town is walkable. Many eateries near the station. Check-in and out was a breeze. Staff is friendly and efficient. The room is clean, of decent size and comes with the usual toiletries. There is a TV, coffee table and chair, mini fridge and ample power outlets. Bed is comfortable. Wifi connection is great. There is also a gender segregated communal bath.

Central location, next to the station, was very important for us. The city, with a lot of restaurants, and breakfast opportunities was just on walking distance. The room was small, but well equipped. The beds were very good, and there was no sound from other rooms that we observed. We did not take the breakfast, but the hotel offers a free happy hour at 18h, with free drinks and curry, that we enjoyed.

The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was very clean and confortable. Wasn't big, but Japan's hotel rooms very rarely are. The location was perfect - less than 5 minutes from the train station and bus terminal. And less than 10 from Takayama's historical center. During the time we were there they offered a happy our on early evenings - 1 drink per guest + curry and rice. Which was a very happy surprise for us! They also have public baths (onsen).

We couldn't use the onsen because we have tattoos. But it's a common cultural thing in Japan.
