The stay was great. The place is beautiful, the food was amazing and the staff was so lovely. Specially the receptionist Tangerine was very knowledgeable and helpful! I was a bit nervous about this reservation because of some of the reviews mentioning bad cleanliness. But the place was spotless except for some moss in the bath areas, but considering it is a natural hot spring that’s perfectly alright. Some stuff is a bit old like some of the paneling but it wasn’t a big deal at all. We had a great time. We stayed for two nights and the menu was different every day while still delivering the typical foods you’d expect. Like we had Hida beef both nights but the preparation was yakiniku first night and Shabu shabu the second for example. The area is very quiet at night even though it is close to the road.

Nothing, it was perfect!

- Don’t let the drab exterior neighborhood fool you. the interior is beautiful with tatami floors throughout - In-room onsen tub was great for private on-demand soaking - The reservable (no fee) outdoor private pools were also great especially on a cool night - Food was great

- Location wasn’t the best. It was a slog to drive to. - It was nested in a pocket of decrepit buildings. though it isn’t an issue if you’re just there for the onsen and not planning on leaving.

Yukimurasaki is truly a hidden gem. Both the hotel and the rooms are stunning—beautifully designed, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The food is absolutely top-notch, and every meal felt like a special experience. The natural surroundings and landscape are breathtaking, making it a true escape for the soul. The staff were very kind and attentive. I especially want to mention the receptionist, I believe her name is Tangerine—she’s smart, charming, and incredibly knowledgeable about so many things. The baths were a true sanctuary, offering deep relaxation for both body and mind. I would fly all the way from Croatia again just to spend another peaceful weekend at Yukimurasaki. An unforgettable experience.

An amazing authentic and traditional stay in the northern alps near Takayama. Our host, Tangerine, was nothing short of superb. Without us even asking, helped plan our trip to the Shinotoka ropeway the following day and how to travel on to Kanazawa with train times etc... Tangerine also noticed my birthday was a few days away, so upon leaving gave me some cake and a wondeful thoughtful message on a card. The food was great, with multiple courses and the onsen was so relaxing, just what we needed. The experience was incredible and me and my wife loved it. Huge thank you in particular to Tangerine!

Being picky, some areas of the room could be a little cleaner I.e. dusting etc...

We booked this place to celebrate our anniversary. The location is conveniently across the street from the Nohi line bus stop. Right from when we got there, we were greeted by Ms Tangerine (who went above and beyond to make our anniversary special). She added a special touch to every little experience right from the check in until we checked out. Our anniversary experience definitely felt extra elevated. The room 301 itself featured an awesome outdoor onsen tub with a view of the snow capped mountain and an indoor onsen tub. The room was clean and well appointed. We also booked the private rock pool onsen located on the 5th floor.

There was nothing not to like about this place :)

The hotel was in an absolutely beautiful area in the Mountains of Takayama. The bus ride up in the snow was magical. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, the staff took our luggage, cleaned it for us, and took it up to our rooms while we checked in. We were able to rest for an hour before we went down for the included dinner, which was an amazing several course traditional Japanese meal. Afterwards we had more rest time before my group went up to the large Onsen at the rooftop, and relaxed in the snow and hot water. We then concluded the night afterwards. The staff was extremely kind the entire trip, and everything was clean and well maintained. There was a small amount of moss growing on the wood decks outside but not unexpected given that the onsens are constantly running.

Staff is amazing and helpful. The Suite we got, if i remember the name it was upper sky, around 604 number? Amazing, the room exceeded my expectations. However it DID have some minor issues, such as the hole above the TV which was mentioned in a comment some months before i arrived. Some doors were a little bit troublesome to slide. At some point the bathroom had a foul smell even if it wasn't used in hours. So in short amazing room!! amazing staff!! amazing facilities!!

Purely personal, the food course was small portions (I'm a typical westerner who lifts, so it wont be the same for everyone), But I believe for that price you should have some more convenient options. Some minor room details. The price.

The receptionists, staff and service were very accomodating. The traditional Japanese Ryokan style was exceptional. The food serving during dinner and breakfast were exquisite. The highlight obviously were the private and public onsens that had natural spring water running all day! The fact it was winter time and snowing with views of the mountain vistas was tranquil and heavenly. That's becuase Yukimurasaki is 3,000ft above sea level and the clouds were touching the mountains.

Just wish I had more time to see Takayama. As I reserved it for one day. In the future I will add another day including to see the sights on the Shinhotaka Ropeway.

The staff and family members were absolutely fantastic. The dinner and breakfast were beyond expectations too - the chef/owner's creativity and craft was something we appreciated. The private onsens in our room were great with an awesome view of the mountains. The ryokan also allowed us to reserve the public rock- and cypress-themed onsens and these were enjoyable too! Our stay was really nice and comfortable. We would return again if we ever have the chance! Thank you for the great hospitality.

Just a super minor one - while we note the place is slightly old, it may be worthwhile fixing some of the wallpaper or paper doors just to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

This ryokan features both Japanese and Japanese-Western rooms. Our party had one of each, with both featuring two en-suite ofuro: one part of the usual shower/tub set up, open to the outside by windows, and a separate free-standing tub on the balcony. Water for both is directly sourced from the hot spring, and it often needs to be cooled off with tap water before use. Rooms comfortable, with great views of the mountains. River was low when we visited, but would be impressive after a big rain. Meals excellent—management made a point of doing an even better job on our second night. Irori (hearth) in lobby a nice feature.

There’s a road between the ryokan and the adjacent river, so occasional truck noise can be heard.
