Our double twin room was very modern and the perfect size for 5 nights. The little touches like the green tea bath products and the complimentary matcha tea experience in the lobby were amazing. Although we weren’t planning on it initially, we had breakfast at the hotel every morning of our stay. It was the perfect combo of more familiar western-type breakfast options and traditional Japanese fare. Reasonably priced, too. Honestly, this was one of my all time favorite hotels.
The beds were very firm which I had read in the reviews, so we asked for mattress toppers. I thought the location would be annoyingly far from the major sites but it was nice to stay in a more mellow area of Tokyo and it was also nice to start each day with a 10 minute walk to a train station.

The rooms were spacious for japanes standards, well equipped and clean. The hotel staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. However, there was only one person at the reception who was able to communicate efficiently in english language.
The breakfast was not really appealing for us. We expected a european or continantal breakfast. For these standards it was poor. So we decided to skip it. Much to less continental european food such as baguette or toast with cheese, ham etc..- Compared with other hotels we visited in Japan the communication was difficult because the reception staff was not able to communicate efficiently in english (with the exception of one person). Walking distance to the next subway station was much longer than expected.

The location was excellent. Quiet but close to Shimbashi restaurants and easy walking distance to three train stations and the Tokyo Tower. Although the room was small it was very well equipped, plenty of toiletries replenished daily and exceptionally clean. When I requested an extra soft pillow it was delivered to our room in minutes. The bed was firm but comfortable by Japanese standards. Our luggage was happily stored on our last day and the checkout of 12pm was a bonus.
We paid for breakfast on one day as it wasn't included in our room rate and it was a bit disappointing in choices and no scrambled eggs when I asked even though the photos and description included them. The photos of the breakfast overall didn't reflect the reality on the day we ate there and I would have given a 10 rating otherwise.

Very nice location, while not directly in busy districts it allows for a calm environement while only 10 minutes away from Shimbashi Station which allows you to take many train lines, such as the G line to go to Shibuya to the west, Ueno and Asakusa to the northeast. You can also have a walk and visit Ginza to do some shopping, it's a very convenient location! The room is not the biggest but functionnal and pretty. Everything is clean and the room service is very throughout. A tablet is there to control every part of the room from it. Check-in is quite fast and check-out is even faster as you only need to press a button on the tablet before leaving, you don't even need to go to the reception floor. We did not try the breakfast but there is a café at the first floor which seemed nice and clean. They serve a lot of matcha-based food and drinks. The blanket is very warm, soft and comfortable.
Beds are a bit on the hard side. While common in Japan it's not the most comfortable bed you could find, but it's okay

We loved the size of the room - very specious with enough room to open both of our very large suitcases. The bathroom was spacious and a great tub. Amenities were replaced daily and quailty was fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would return without a doubt. The beds were firm but easy to get use to. All the staff were very helpful and accomidating. Hotel has luggage forwarding services which the staff organised.
Location wise train station is approx. 10mins walk but connects to various lines. Maybe be something to consider depending on plans and group dynamics.

The hotel was so lovely and quiet in a very quiet area of Tokyo. We felt as if we were the only people there and we stayed during Golden Week! The room was so clean and comfortable. We loved making use of the Amazon fire stick for the three nights we stayed! Staff were very kind and caring. I was so massively impressed with this hotel and honestly I don’t know if we could have stayed somewhere better while we were new to Tokyo. It was such a great way to settle in if that makes any sense. Lots of little shops near by and just great distance to train stations and local parks.
Honestly there’s nothing I didn’t like

A nice peaceful location with quite a few options to eat and drink around the hotel. The hotel had a cafe of its own, which looked quite good, though we never really eat at hotels we stay in. 2 easy to access stations, Onarimon is a 4-6 min walk, while Shimbashi is around a 10 min walk. Both Tokyo tower and Zozo-ji is really close and makes for a nice walk. Tsukiji market takes around 30mins to get to on foot, but we enjoyed the walk and built up quite the appetite. The property is well taken care of, very polite staff, the room though a bit small was comfortable and exceptionally clean, the daily room make over is real bonus here. 1899 specialises in Tea and I would recommend to all tea aficionados to give It try.
I found the beds a tad bit stiff, but after the 2nd night, you get used it. I wish they had an in-hotel laundromat too.

We ended up with the corner room, which was over the top. We had plenty of room and very nice access to AC power. The bathroom was exceptional, and the toilet was deluxe. We loved the breakfast, and the food service people are awesome! They make you feel special at this hotel, it is a great experience. They have a 7-11 across the street that was amazing;-) I see a lot of 10 out of 10 reviews, and I can not give this because we stayed at the time of the cherry blossoms, and it was very expensive. The location is comfortable, but not the most convenient. Overall, we loved our stay!
The location is not the best. It is really in a business district, not very close to attractions. We found ourselves taking cabs a lot. I am sure that other reviewers have mentioned the ultra-firm beds, which are kind of strange for such a nice hotel.

love the beautiful and clean rooms, the staff is helpful and kind. the bed is very comfortable and I love the selection of tea in the rooms. it's my third stay at this hotel and I think it's a gem
When I went to eat the delicious buffet there was Chinese tourists letting their sick child cough all over the food, the child was just standing and coughing for several minutes on everything. it was disgusting. As well they were yelling and being disruptive so it could not enjoy my breakfast. I had to ask the staff for food that had not been coughed on, on previous trips the breakfast was one of my favorite parts of the hotel so I would like the staff to to enforce more rules on bad behavior of such guests.

We love its decor, its serenity, simplicity and cleanliness. The service is superb. The room incorporated a well designed compact bathroom with a surprisingly deep bath. It was so comfortable! We also appreciated the room purifier/humidifier. It made the room so pleasant. The breakfast offering at the restaurant was incredibly well thought of and incorporated elements of Japanese breakfast style in a western style setting. We loved it! The availability of a tea ceremony gave the element of the serene perspective with the Japanese hospitality and culture. What a wonderful touch. Thank you for the fantastic experience!
Nothing.
