My second stay at Candeo Wakayama! I love the comfortable window seat as a place to look out the window and dream. Rockstar Farms grocery is also right in the station and had great takeout delicious food. The rooftop bath is wonderful. The location is perfect for easy access to Kansai airport or the Shikoku ferry.

Really loved the sitting area big enough for 3 pax along the wide glass window with great city view. Enjoyed sitting there for a quiet reading. It’s located right next to WakayamaShi station so very convenient (if you hold JR pass you will need to take a connecting train, run in scheduled times, 2 stops away to Wakayama Station). There’s a Starbucks which in inside a library next to the hotel. It’s within walking distance to Wakayama Castle. The onsen on top floor offers magnificent views both day and night. There’s a small sitting area so you can browse your phone/tablet while waiting for your laundry.

The onsen water is not hot enough compared to a real onsen.

Great location for a quick stop over to rest, after a long flight to reach OSAKA, before we begin our travel in Wakayama. Simple and clean rooms, we got a Queen and a Twin. Twin has little more space vs the Queen in term of room size. No connecting rooms, so the hotel arrange for the 2 rooms to be closed to each other on the same floor (Thanks). Good breakfast in the morning before we start our day. Hotel is location next to the train station and on top of the city public library. Also offer good choice of good in level 2 connected to the public library. Great Onsen with a cool outdoor city view when you are in the hot Onsen enjoying the moon.

No big issues here. Just the access to reach the check-in lobby. There is no lobby or drive way for this hotel at ground level. You need to park at the public parking space for this building (House the Hotel, Library, Restaurants) and walk over the link bridge at level 2 or 3 to get the a lift that brings you to the lobby at level 11. Instructions was not given as we did this via Bookings, these are available if you contact the hotel and look at their official website regarding access.

The location was convenient next to Wakayamashi Station, (note it’s not JR Wakayama station which is a 10min train ride away). Downstairs a Pronto was good for breakfast and lots of restaurants right next door. The bath on the rooftop was good. Rooms were fine, always the juggling with 2 suitcases in Japanese hotel rooms but managed to squeeze them and us in. Staff were very friendly and helpful, allowed us to store our luggage for a week while we did the Kumano Kodo (we stayed there again on our return).

Not much else around the hotel by way of shopping etc. Good restaurants though.

The design of the hotels from bed linen to curtains and the room design aesthetic was beautiful, sleek and modern, with an overall art deco feel to the rooms. The onsen and sky lounge area on the top floor was beautiful and lotions and shampoos from the hotel were gorgeous. The outdoor pool overlooking the city, the river and the bridges and railway tracks was a great vista to overlook while outdoor bathing. The place was super clean and the staff were always friendly and very helpful. A very relaxing stay and the hotel is located over the municipal Wakayama library and the railway station which is a fantastic connection to Kansai Airport. A lovely stay was had by all in the Kandeo Hotel in Wakayama.

That was a great hotel and experience - Japanese bath / spa and Finnish sauna were great. Between 8-11am there is hardly anyone, especially during the last hour it was literarlly empty. Breakfast buffet was good with large variety to choose from. And the room with trains view and sitting area next to the windows were very much appreciated by our 5yo. Parking is a bit non-straighforward but quite convenient in the end - best to park in the 3rd level of the Starton parking from which you'd just walk through the terrace / mall to the hotel's elevator. Don't forget to give a parking ticket to the hotel staff for a discount stamp whe parking overnight.

The location of the hotel is perfect, situated just above the train station, with a lovely bookshop underneath. While the entrance was a bit tricky to find, it was manageable for us. The staff were super helpful and spoke good English, making the check-in process smooth and easy. Upon entering the lobby on the 11th floor, we were greeted by a large window showcasing an absolutely stunning view, which was a delightful surprise. Overall, the hotel was clean and comfortable, although the room was a bit smaller than we expected. The sockets were conveniently placed, making it easy to charge devices. The public bath on the 12th floor was fantastic. Although small, it was an outdoor bath with a beautiful view of Wakayama. The water was hot and relaxing, especially while enjoying the cool breeze.

We booked a corner room with an L-shaped window, but it was easily visible from the car park, which was a bit concerning. Additionally, the lift took quite a long time to arrive. We booked a double room, but we noticed that some in-room equipment was lacking; for example, we only received one of each item, such as a toothbrush, slipper, towel, and bottle of water. This was a bit disappointing, as it would have been nice to have enough for two guests.

The bath was good, the view from the room was good, nice staff, window seat was nice.

The location wasn’t that good - I misunderstood and thought it was near Wakayama JR main station but Wakayamashi Station is about a 10 train ride and the trains were not that frequent. Having said that, the hotel is right next to Wakayamashi station and there is a good complex of restaurants next door. But there is nothing much else in the way of shops etc around there.

Pros: location coming from the Kansai airport, Access to the onsen was included, the room was clean and nice. They also had umbrellas to borrow. There also is a convenient store downstairs with eating options.

No complaints really, but during laundry the dryers were busy (with one of them having someones done laundry just sitting in there) so I couldn't use them and had to hang the laundry in my room. Not a big problem but just a slight annoyance.

Exceptionally clean in all areas, very helpful staff, many good quality breakfast choices with some different items each day. Location was excellent for catching trains to different areas and easy access to taxis, drugstore, konbini and grocery store. Walking distance to Wakayama castle as well.

I read online tattoos are allowed in public bath from 1200-0600, but at the hotel the time posted was 1200-0400. I could not being myself to stay awake or wake up that early so was disappointed to miss the skyspa
