I had three goes at booking this hotel as the first two times of trying Booking .com either changed the price or the availability of rooms from the original priced and availability shown to when i went to book a room . I'm glad I persevered as I like the look of this hotel and its location right across from the Wakayarma castle. This hotel is more geared to business /corporate stays ,but don't let that stop you booking . The room are spacious ,well appointed with a descent size bathroom for Japaneses standards. The way to the reception is through the foyer of the ground floor of the building it occupies and then up to the 5th floor lobby. The staff were friendly and welcoming , even giving me a towel to dry myself while I was checking in ( I had just walked the 20 minutes from the train station through the pouring rain ) Try and ask for a room on the southern side as it faces Wakayarma castle. Free tea and coffee was all down at the lobby alone with tooth brushes and other things . Floors 8 and 18 had the microwaves and vending machines . unfortunately no beer in the these machines Wakayarma has no metro but does have a great bus system with a stop right outside the hotel and is mid point between the two railway stations , one operated by JR and the other by the local Wakayarma railway line Plenty of restaurants and shops in and around the area

The Breakfast was a bit expensive at 2200 yen compared to the other four hotels I stayed in during my Japaneses holiday But I'm unsure if the restaurant was part of the hotel or just in the building and used by the hotel. It does face the castle and can be seem from all the tables. The elevator had a mind of its own and would frequently over shot my floor then come back down with no one in it and if i wanted to go to the ground floor it would first stop at the 5th lobby floor then go back up and not continue to the ground floor even though I had pushed the ground floor button.

Beautiful view overlooking castle. Colour scheme in room and bathroom very neutral. Carpet appeared clean and unworn. Good water pressure and hot water. Water in room was drinkable which I appreciated. Also appreciated the provision of coffee sachets in the lobby for making coffee in one’s room. The one woman at the front desk when I arrived at the hotel in a panic because I had left my phone on the bus from the train station was most helpful (and adds to my positive rating of the hotel)but the younger man who had initially received me at reception couldn’t have been less helpful. He had no English at all and although I can’t criticise him if I can’t speak his language i feel some English fluency should be taught for personnel on reception. I noticed other foreigners from non-English speaking countries were using English to communicate.

My suitcase didn’t arrive with me on my flight so I had nothing but what I was wearing. Would have appreciated the usual in-room robe. Had loud speaking neighbours one night and found I could hear them too well so sound insulation is lacking. An extra towel rather than just one bath and one hand towel would be helpful.

I think it was very recently renovated so everything is new and very clean. We highly recommend a room with the castle view, it's spectacular!

It was hard to find the lobby, the signs on the first floor/building entrance only include the hotel name and arrows which lead you into the building lobby and towards the elevators. There is no sign on the 1st floor to confirm the lobby/check in, is located on the fifth floor. However, once you're in the elevator the buttons confirm hotel floors and information.

The check in process was a bit tedious but got it done quickly enough in the air-conditioned lobby (5th floor) in the hottest summer. There were baskets of complimentary toothbrushes, razors, wash cloths, q tips etc. available for all guests. It was awesome that they gave our kids a separate goodie bag with slippers, kids toothbrush and paste set in cute little bags my kids actually gasped and kept throughout the trip and even afterwards. There is a family mart that’s open 24 hours right on the ground level with pretty much everything you need. The bakery on the ground level was also phenomenal. Even if you don’t book it with breakfast, you will find plenty to eat around the property. Great location overlooking the Wakayama Castle was a huge plus. Wonderful views from the rooms we had (17th floor) will be remembered for sure. I highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was situated just infront of Wakayama castle and it was awesome in may ways. The breakfast they had was superb & it introduces both Japanese & Westen taste. The hotel was near to many shops & restaurants as well.

The room was a bit small for 2 adults & 1 child but we manage to sleep on the bed vertically instead of the traditional position (horizontally). I wish they had more food choices in the buffet especially for western.

The view and location was perfect, in the middle of the city. And even tho it was pretty hard to find a taxi in the city, there always was plenty in front of the hotel. It was very convenient and the staff was always more than happy to help

The waiting times for the elevators were pretty long, and to get Some daily appliances you had to go to the lobby to get them (including the elevator waiting time)

Location was good, opposite Wakayama Castle. Located above a small mall with a convenience store, bakery and a few small restaurants. There were also other convenience stores and small restaurants nearby the hotel. Car parking was at a 24/7 public carpark, directly opposite the hotel. We booked a family room, huge size with 4 beds, very comfortable plus the room came with a washer/dryer in the bathroom. Extremely convenient.

Troublesome to have to take the lift to another level where the reception is. There were only two lifts so it was a long wait during check in and check out times. No onsite carpark and you have to park in the building next door. Awkward location because it’s not very near the wakayamashi station (20 mins walk away).

We stayed for 2 nights to explore Wakayama. The hotel is in front of Wakayama castle which is interesting to explore. The room was clean and spacious. We didn't have a view of the castle but the room had a nice view. The best part was breakfast buffet with lots of options. It was one of the best breakfast. There was a big bookshop underneath, which was a bonus for us who are book lovers.

We stayed here as a stopover for just a few hours. Somewhere to rest, shower and get a bite to eat. We wish we could have stayed longer! The room was SO comfortable. Good size for the 4 of us. Super comfy beds and pillows. Bathroom was bigger than usual Japanese hotel and even had a little bath. Staff were very welcoming, spoke English and were super friendly! Having a combi (convenience store) downstairs was also a blessing.
