Honestly, we booked Manseiro for their seafood. The Kaiseki dinner was the best we ever had (and we had many in Japan for last 2 decades) with super fresh and premium ingredients! We stayed 2 nights and the 2nd night’s dinner was even better than the 1st night! Very grateful for the detail attention given by our server (a senior lady) and the chef. Fantastic location, just 7min walk from Kii-Katsuura station, 5min walk to JF Katsuura port that host the largest tuna fish auction in Japan every morning, and a short ferry ride right from the front door to their sister hotel’s popular 2 cave onsens. This ryokan has very good and clean onsen facilities too, with much less crowd compared to their big sister hotel!
The clean western room appeared to be tired with dim lightings and no views (facing a wall). We would probably try the tatami room if we decided to return for their Kaiseki dinner.

Facility is very clean and the room was nice. I booked with dinner and breakfast, and both meals were exceptional. And the furo/onsen. The furo at property is small but nice, but the real deal is at the sister property Urashima, to which you need to take a ferry to get to. Incredible experience!
The schedule for the ferry to Urashima is somewhat limited; it was too late when I got there the first night to take the ferry and back, and it was a bit tight schedule to take a bath in the morning to make it back in time for breakfast. I made it work, and it wouldn't be that much of an issue if you're staying multiple nights- I only stayed one night under a tight itinerary so I did not get to use the onsen as much as I wanted to.

We stayed in an ocean view, Japanese-style room. We would have preferred a non-smoking room, but only smoking rooms were available—Iuckily there was not a smoke smell and it wasn't an issue at all. Location and view were great, walkable to the train station. There were plenty of ferries to the other hotel for the cave onsen. Breakfast was also delicious!
More non-smoking rooms would be ideal, so people don't need to worry about a smoke smell, would be ideal.

The traditional Japanese breakfast was included with the tariff and it was fabulous. Lots of little dishes beautifully presented on a tray. Included a thin slice of tuna (Katsuura is a tuna fishing port) which you grill on a small fire in a pot.
Not the hotel’s fault but the floating pontoon opposite was creaking noisily all night with the movement of the waves in the port.

Centrally located near the train station and fish market. The hotel may look aged but the service is top rate especially the ladies serving the meals. The hotel is very organised. It has a decent in house Onsen or you can request to use the cave onsen on the island. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were very very good !
A carpet in the western room looks aged but the tatami rooms were very clean

About 5 mins walk to the Kii-katsuura Station. This traditional Japanese hotel is clean and the staffs are very helpful. They can communicate with very simple English. The breakfast is Japanese type and delicious. Customers can enjoy the cave onsen of another hotel (Hotel Urashima) for free.

Very nice comfortable japanese style room. Balcony facing the sea. Clean. Good breakfast. Not too far from station (maybe 8 min walk, easy). It was wonderful to have free access to Urashima resort. Their hot sprigs were awesome (two are caves facing the sea. WONDERFUL) (you get there taking a free ferry in front of the hotel)
Dinner there was expensive ($50), but when we looked around for food we almost couldn't find a place open.

The breakfast was Japanese very complete. It would be helpful if they had a little description of the food.
