Kosenkaku Yoshinoya has seen better days, but it is still a pleasant place to stay. Although the building is not spotless, the service is definitely perfect, and the dinner and breakfast were some of the best we had during our trip. The room was spacious, and the view was the best you can get in Totsukawa. We stayed here as part of our hike through the Kumano Kodo route. The personnel went above-and-beyond to ensure the next leg of our trip was seamless.

The building could benefit from some minor renovations, and some of the accessories in their onsen and sento are definitely due for replacement, however, the service and attention of the personnel are excellent, and you will definitely have a good time here.

The service here is hands down the standout memory from our stay. From the minute you walk in the door to the time you depart, the staff is exceptional! The service is again highlighted during the traditional meals which were also outstanding!!! Onsen is picturesque but definetely dated.

The property is dated and is in need of some sprucing up. Beyond just upgrades, the entire property from the rooms to the traditional baths desperately need a thorough cleaning, which was disappointing. Cleaning is free and simple and should be kept up with. Our room walls and the carpet flooring leading to it were littered with various stains. The baths, especially the mens, had mould EVERYWHERE which was a big turn off for me to use them.

The location was excellent, because it was surrounded by nature. We could see very nice views from our room. I like that the outside and inside shared baths in the hotel. My skin got so soft after I took a bath in the Hot Springs. They served us an excellent authentic Japanese breakfast, which amazed me a lot. Staff were so friendly and introduced a couple of restaurants near by for dinner. There is a supermarket closed to the hotel. We could send some large luggages ahead to our next destination because a post office in the cross street was conveniently there.

There were some spots needed to be clean, because it’s dated hotel.

All the staffs are so friendly and welcoming regardless we were a bit late for check-in... There was a great calm nice water view from our room, open-air onsen, and dining room. When we stayed in mid-April, there were just 3 of us and a gentleman so it was so quiet and felt like all for ourselves!

Just a reminder, it is a bit of a drive and quite challenging one as some of the roads are extremely narrow...there might be public transport available but if you're not used to those mountain roads, you best get some local help. If you're after an isolated and quiet night, this is a perfect place but if you're after just a quick stopover, it's best to stay somewhere else unless you're already nearby. Although, we had a great stay with super welcoming staffs.

The staff was so Kind and helpful. One of the most beautiful onsens we have ever seen (both, women's and men's outdoor onsen). The river view from the rooms is so stunning you could spend days in the internal balcony space reading and marveling at the emerald green water. The dinner was fantastic too.

Incredible view over the river from the room - absolutely stunning. Friendly and helpful staff and a comfortable stay. Lovely inside and outdoor onsen available to use. Also enjoyed the foot massage machine!

The corridors were very warm as there was no air conditioning in the common areas - thought it was lovely and cool in the room.

Had a knee injury from hiking and was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. Hotel reception lady helped me in the middle of the night and gave me an ice pack and loxoprofen patches. They went above and beyond to help a foreigner and I'm extremely grateful for their kindness.

It was an amazing experience of a traditional guest house with very traditional dinner and breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen and the view from the room was breathtaking. The subtle ways in which the staff took care of us made us enjoy every piece of it

The setting is beautiful. The food was excellent. The staff are remarkably kind and clearly hard working. I especially loved the setting of the hot spring, as well as the gorgeous view of the river from the room. I would love to stay here again.
