It is an attractive traditional old building in wood. The location was great, right in the centre of town and the bus stopped right at the doorstep. Our room had a nice view. We had asked for vegetarian for 2 of our group and they said it was not possible as they used fish stock, however they put in a lot of effort to give us two vegetarian meals and breakfast from their menu items. We really appreciated that. The food was good. The lady at the reception in the evening was very helpful. The staff was good. They have a very pretty outdoor hot bath.

It is a little shabby and over priced. The rooms have no attached baths, you have to bathe in the public hot bath. Though the food was good, we had to cook our fish/ meat in the soup as raw meat is served and we couldn't eat that. It may be part of the Japanese experience, but we need our tea /coffee and they only keep Japanese tea in the room.

The meals were amazing - beautifully prepared and presented. So much thought went into them and they were delivered by a lovely Japanese host. The beds were on tatami mats with hard pillows .....something that you expect in a Japanese Ryokan.

The outdoors onsen didn't seem very clean .....there were floaty things in it! Also privacy is a concern outside to street - indoor is private.

The building is old and super beautiful and is located in a small little village (if you can call it that) along the kumano kodo trail. We hiked from the kumano hongu taisha which was a pretty intense walk. It really felt like coming home after such a walk. We were welcomed into the most beautiful room of the hotel and immediately made our way to the outdoor hotsprings. Dinner and breakfast in the room were very traditional, parts of it was not our taste but overall well cooked. We would LOVE to come back here.

The indoor hot spring can do with a deep cleaning. The wooden floor seems a bit moldy and is quite slippery. Luckily the outdoor hot spring is amazing.

- The service is fantastic - Nazomi is a great and kind host. - The food was incredible - The old building is charming - The rooms were cosy (good heating), nice lighting, comfortable futons (although the pillows were a bit hard for me, but my partner was fine) - Onsens are clean, beautiful, water piping hot! - Perfect location in a unique little town

It is true that the hallways are dated, as said in other reviews. However, I wouldn’t let this turn you off visiting. I knew what to expect, it didn’t impact the enjoyment of my stay. It’s a very old building and the areas that matter are well maintained. Although the hotel would benefit from the investment. Some noise can be heard from the other rooms. Most people are going to bed early so it’s not a problem!

A faded but beautiful Ryokan in a wonderful location, Yunomine Onsen is delightful. Our room overlooking the river was very comfortable and the sitting area was the perfect place to relax, listen to the river and read after two day’s hiking. Our sore feet were happy and aching legs revitalized in the onsens. We especially loved the outdoor onsen in the garden. The view from our room upstairs was fabulous: the temple across the river and the dark cedar and bamboo forest that comes down the steep mountains right to the edge of the quiet village. The food at Adumaya is excellent. The staff are kind and helpful. We loved our stay and wished we could have stayed another night. Arigatou Gozaimasu!

Good location, near tourist attractions that can be walked to The staff were warm, polite and helpful. The overall atmosphere is quiet. On the day I stayed, there were only 3 rooms. The room is clean, large, with a private toilet. The food is carefully prepared using local, seasonal ingredients. There is a parking lot specifically for guests, so you can drive there yourself.

The shower room must be used at a specified time, which you can choose when checking in.

Adumaya Ryokan is the perfect way to explore Yunomine Onsen. We stayed two nights as part of our hiking route through the Kumano Kodo, and coming back to Adumaya to relax on its multiple baths was one of the highlights of our trip. The ryokan is a deep and layered blend of history and tradition; the service is unbeatable, the dinner incredible, and the experience a real treat. We particularly appreciated the above-and-beyond help they provided to ensure our next leg of the trip was seamless.

The cost was a bit high, but after factoring in the impressive dinner, facilities, and service, I'd say you get very good value for money.

- Location just in front of the bus stop - excellent food and hospitality, it felt like Japanese fine dining experience in a private dining room. - onsen both indoor and outdoor

The ryokan could use some refurbishment here and there while keeping that rustic feeling of Japanese traditional ryokan. Maybe it’s peak season, but I felt that the per night price is a tad steep.

The food, particularly the evening meal eas absolutely exceptional. The standard of cooking , the quantity and the service really could not have been any better. We really enjoyed the onsen baths too. So relaxing after a day hiking.

Our only criticism is that the carpets, walls decor in the corridors were all abit shabby and even dirty. This was such a surprise when everything else was so wonderful

The staff was amazing and only outdone by the dinner we had. The traditional Japanese dinner had a huge array of items to eat and nothing disappointed. The property is very old but it is obvious there was great care taken to every item someone touched. The stay was appropriately priced for the experience and I would very much recommend staying here to anyone traveling in the area.
