Fantastic location and so quiet (even with being across from the train station). Staff were very friendly, everything was very clean, the guests were all very conscientious and quiet, and the onsen bath was a nice bonus. We were able to leave our large bags locked up after checkout and come back to get them easily, which was really handy. The bento shop next door was extremely good value and convenient for taking on the train (open after 10am). I look back fondly at my stay already!
The kitchen area was very basic but we didn't use it besides making a cup of coffee. There is one hot plate for those wanting to cook. It was no problem for us because we didn't want to cook!

Oyado Hana is a lovely traditional property with an excellent location! You are near the bus stop and the train. You can walk to the harbor area - which has a large free foot onsen facing the ocean! So great 🙂 You can easily walk to restaurants - a very good one right next door, and walk to a whole covered street with shops. This is a fairly quiet coastal town famous for their tuna, including a tuna auction by the harbor early in the morning. We had a very pleasant stay here for 2 nights after hiking 2 days on the Kumono Kodo. The staff here is helpful and friendly. A big plus for the onsen you can reserve at the property, a fresh water dispenser in the hall, a common kitchen, supplies for coffee and tea, and luggage storage. We would definitely stay here again if we have a chance.

The host was very friendly and helpful, he showed us the facilities very kindly. Overall I really enjoyed the experience, we were given a time slot to enter the private onsen, the water was boiling and that was good, although the appearance of the space has an old and dirty look, it seems that the brown of the tank walls is due to the minerals. They could still improve the facilities to make them more welcoming. The room is small but it had a window and a warm blanket.
There are only two bathrooms, one for men and one for women, which I think is too few to support the number of rooms the accommodation has. The walls are also not very soundproof, you can hear everything, and other guests don't know how to respect sleeping hours. Unfortunately, this is not something that the accommodation owners can improve, as it depends on the guests.

The owner was a very nice and friendly individual who was ready and willing to help whenever it was needed. In fact, I accidentally lost a personal belonging of mine; through direct messages on booking.com I was able to contact the owner and he was kind enough to deliver my item to a hotel I was staying at, at a later date - with no guarentee that I would pay fot it. Once I received it I made sure to explain how greatful I was for his service He is a kind a trusting owner who cares for all his customers. I would highly recommend anyone staying in Katsuura to stay at the inn! The bamboo mat floors are soft and comfortable and give the experience of what it is like to stay in an old traditional japanese home. The futons provided are warm and didnt hurt my back, there is a vending machine with a kettle and cups/bowls to use if needed.

It seems like a good base camp for those who are going on a Kumano Kodo pilgrimage or visiting Kumano Nachi Taisha, Hiro Shrine, and Nachi Falls. The station is right outside the front door. You can catch a bus to Nachi Falls right in front. The owner is very kind and speaks English and Japanese. All the tools are fully equipped. I can feel the owner's delicate in all the tools and props. The shower room and hot spring bath are also well maintained. The owner is a master of customer service. She greets me kindly with a beautiful smile.

We stayed here after completing the Kumano Kodo trail. We were able to send our bags here ahead of time which really helped, we left them after check out as well to enjoy Katsuura. Everything was great, the staff was super friendly and accommodating! We got a private onsen time in the evening after our trek and it was the perfect way to finish the day! The location is super convenient being right by the train station, only a few minute walk. We got great recommendations for food as well.
if there was onsen time in the morning that would be nice. everything was good

This is a pleasant no-frills guesthouse that aims to please. It had the perfect location for my needs- essentially across the street from the train station. I got a room that faced the station and was worried that I would be kept awake by overnight trains. I was not at all - it was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was referred to restaurants and told about the fish auction and market. They have luggage storage and a little kitchenette for some basic cooking. The use of the private bath/onsen is included in the price. It can be booked for 1/2 hour upon arrival. The tub appeared quite stained and at first I was unsure about getting in. However, the water was crystal clear and felt wonderful. I recommend staying here, especially considering the reasonable price per night.
There was nothing I did not like.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. The tatami room with a futon mattress was cozy and gave a nice traditional touch. It’s in a great location—very close to the station and the bus stop to get to Nachi Falls, which was super convenient. There was a kitchen available with some basic cooking equipment, though we didn’t use it much. One of the highlights was the onsen—it was a relaxing way to end the day. Would definitely recommend it if you're visiting the area!

I don’t think you could find better value for the quality of accommodation provided. It was on par or exceeded more expensive places we stayed. The guesthouse is clean, cosy and well-equipped (small kitchen, large bath, comfy beds and fantastic pillows, heating in the rooms). Staff are lovely. I can also highly recommend the restaurant next door for dinner - I’m still thinking about the steak!!
The only thing that bothered me was there was no small lamp in the room (just a very bright overhead light).

Had great facilities, clean, Japanese style rooms. Very good location. Across from the station but never heard the train. Very close to Onsen & restaurants. Helpful staff there was always someone on hand.
It was very good. Didn’t realise we could have rented a yukata. We had finished the Kumado Kodo in the rain but the staff were very lovely & offered us towels to dry off. A yukata would have been nice as everything was damp, but that’s all, it was great for the price
