I had an excellent stay at this hotel. My tatami room was absolutely adorable, full of charm. While there's no private bathroom, it wasn’t an issue at all since most of the time is spent enjoying the different onsen. The shared toilets are clean and there are plenty available. The value for money is incredible. This was the most affordable place I found in Yufuin, and it fit my small budget perfectly. The level of service exceeded my expectations, especially considering the price. There are three onsen baths, which can be reserved for 40-minute private sessions. After a certain hour in the evening, they become freely accessible. Breakfast was delicious, varied, generous, and filling. The staff were truly wonderful. They gave me great advice about exploring Yufuin and tips for the next part of my trip. And let’s not forget the hotel cats : they're incredibly cute and sometimes even come over for cuddles. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Thank you for everything!

The private onsens are quite nice & novel experience for us, except when it was dirty. Location is close to the train station (walking distance), very handy. Free bike rental is good to explore around town as well. The room is set in traditional Japanese style with futon and sliding bamboo/paper doors.

The female onsen was dirty when we used it in the afternoon. The service that we received felt very perfunctory (probably because the receptionist was also the owner? our check-in experience didn't feel very hospitable) The overall interior of the building felt a bit run-down and old. There is only stairs, no lift. Quite a hassle when you got a room on the 3rd floor and carrying suitcases.

Quiet and convenient access to the nearby tourist spots and facilities. Really liked the onsen experience and it was really fun for me as a first timer. The hot spring water was really enjoyable to soak in during the autumn cooling weather. Great, kind and friendly staff attending to our needs. Resident cats to pet and greet everyday.

Nothing much really, only that we have to share the common toilet and that the only shower place is at the hot spring area and we need to watch the limited time available for shower. Oh, extra power points for charging of appliances will be great too. Otherwise, it was really a great stay, all good 👍

The staffs are so friendly and helpful! They helped me with my query on bus to outside Yufurin (Mt Kuju) and even checked the weather that it was safe to trek. The onsens (3 baths) are excellent each with their own character. The hotel has an excellent system after evening hours that the onsen became private, each room can book a 40min slot. The rooms are cosy and clean, with everything you need working. I especially loved the small kitchenette that allows me to cook simple meals each night. The hotel is a 5min walk to big supermarkey Aeon, which make it convenient! Love 💕 my time here !

Amazing + large, private onsens (can be booked just for you/family), with changing area and showers. We stayed at a much more expensive hotel later, and this onsen was far nicer. Great lounge area, with free drinks and manga. Comfy, traditional Japanese lounge-wear provided. Great location, few minutes from central train+bus stop. The staff were also incredibly supportive - Yufuin was hit by a typhoon when we stayed here, and they went above and beyond to look out for the guests.

Small room - not much space to do anything if the bed was made, even simply to sit down on the chairs. The lounge was where we spent most of our time, but this was fine for us. No space for hanging clothes. No elevator. Toilets are shared, showers only in the onsen (and must be booked - but this was not really an issue).

The staffs and the owner are super friendly and helpful. They really put in much effort to ensure the guests are comfortable! A homely place to stay away from home! The cats are therapeutic too !

Nothing! I had traveled Japan oftenly, to get such a safe and comfortable place with such reasonable rate is rare, in fact this is the best experience I had in Japan so far 🙌🏻

We really liked the guesthouse. Even the small room was plenty of space for us, and it had a balcony too! The free bike hire is ab excellent way to explore Yufuin. The staff were also very friendly. Also, there are signs up on every language saying to keep voices down at night, so PLEASE DO, the walls are paper thin. There also seems to be no step-free access to the rooms, so be aware.

I stayed at this place for two nights, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. They have a dog and a cat who "work" from 9 am to 5 pm by greeting guests and relaxing. Both animals are very calm and friendly, and they welcome head pats! During our stay, one of my family members accidentally left an item behind at the hotel, and we had already departed for Sapporo. I contacted the hotel, and they were exceptionally accommodating. They actively searched for the missing item and offered to ship them to our next hotel or location. They promptly provided us with the shipping receipt, tracking order, and ensured it was sent to the correct location, along with clear instructions on how to receive and retrieve the item. The cost for this service was very reasonable. Furthermore, I had pre-paid for a two-night dinner reservation at a restaurant affiliated with the hotel. The yakiniku and grilled course was delicious and satisfying. They also generously offered a selection of unlimited drinks, including soft drinks, liquor, and cocktails, which guests could prepare and serve themselves.

Everything was beyond expectation ! The very central location, you can rent bicycles and wander around, you have unlimited access to a soft drink bar, a private access to onsen through reservation at the reception, and also a very helpful and kind staff....I totally recommend this place for people who own a pet or not.

The only negative aspects of the hotel was the Wifi (it wasn't working) and no elevator.

Wonderful, beautiful Japanese style room and onsen. There are 3 onsen to choose from to reserve. We booked the semi-outdoor onsen, and it was absolutely gorgeous. We were curious and went to look at the roof top bath. The pictures here don't do it justice. It is small (only big enough for 2 people), but has been beautifully decorated.
