My room featured a huge bed, beautiful wooden floors and a very large bathroom. Everything was clean and the shower etc in the bathroom worked well, as did the air-conditioning. There was a reasonable amount of choice for breakfast and staff was extremely attentive and nice. Paid about 36US$/night for two nights with single occupancy, which I found very good value.

I thought that some of the equipment in the room had fallen into disrepair or were just old, but this did not bother me. I didn't use the balcony as it was directly by the loud, dusty road, which should be kept in mind. Also, minibuses Park right out front with their motors on early morning to bring people to the alms ceremony.

We upgraded our room so we could have a balcony with a river view and it was lovely. Very good value for money. They organised train station pick up. Great spot for breakfast. Walking distance to everything

The shower was terrible, it needs to be replaced. The towels were stained brown. They have a weird system where you must leave your room key at the front desk when you leave the room but the keys just sit on the desk where anyone could walk in and pick them up. It made me feel very uncomfortable

Excellent location in Luang Prabang’s historic district. A short walk from the district’s most beautiful ways and best restaurants.

Vans shuttling tour groups arrive at ~5:30 a.m. every morning, disgorging loud, ill-mannered passengers who pay to have a plastic seat and a small basket of sticky rice to give to the passing monks as if feeding animals at a zoo. Ban Lakkham River View and its guests are unwitting victims of this daily parade/charade until Luang Prabang’s city government recognizes how this organized, accredited, for-profit activity has degraded the piousness of the monks collecting alms from residents, as has been the practice for generations. Not the guest house’s fault. But you will be awakened by the motor vehicles and crowds.

We had a lovely stay at Ban Lakkham. Our room was very spacious and clean and we were provided with juice on arrival/early check in which was a nice surprise. The staff were polite and helpful, we ended up renting a motorbike from around the corner but you can hire through the hotel and they offer different excursions. Breakfast was nice sat out on the river - it is menu order with fresh juice, fruit & nice coffee. The baguette that came with breakfast was lovely !

We have nothing negative to say about the hotel itself. Just be aware not to expect luxury if you're booking a transfer through the hotel. Our minivan to Nong Khiaw was non AC for 4+ hours and oversubscribed so when we arrived there was no space for my partner and he was handed a stool to sit on in the aisle.

What more can I say than what has already been said and praised so many times? Everything is accurate! The staff, the room, the location, the breakfast and the amenities, all attractions within walking distance are a great pleasure. The only thing I can think of to add to the list of superlatives is the state of this beautiful home with a soul: Hardwood floors, French doors to the porch, high ceilings, furniture in the style. It’s eclectic, style without fuzz and luxury without pretentions. Urban life on the banks of the river including traffic, crowing roosters and the cat in heat. Thank you for making me feel at home! Thanks for a great week in Luang Prabang!

Absolutely nothing

Enjoyed our stay at Ban Lakkham. The rooms and the hotel itself are lovely, old colonial type digs, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Bath room was good also. Beware of the floors, they are insanely slippery (very nice hardwood). Dont get about in socks, you'll break your neck. The lads were more than happy for pointers and to organise tuk tuks and the like.

The lovely but deadly floors as mentioned above. Another minor gripe, being made to leave your room key at reception EVERY time you left the building. Kinda weird, like your Dad knowing where you are at all times.

Frebch style was very impressive, room was lovely, good size, fabulous balcony eith very comfortable chairs, all very relaxing. Breakfast on the riverside was very good, lots of choice (10+items), plus fresh warm baguettes, hotel was absolutely spotless and generally very quiet and relaxing

Be aware there are extensive works on the riverbank to make a road and shire up. Being worked on every day early morning until early evening so this makes it noisy and slightly tarnishes the atmosphere. Also the hotel on a road with the river the other side of that, so can be quite noisy with passing traffic. Inconsiderate guests were talking loudly whilst watching the daily monks alms ceremony around 5 30 so be aware of this too.

It is a small hotel but very charming with the Nam Khan river view and very quiet area. We appreciated very much the breakfast in front of the river. Breakfast was very good. The staff was really nice and efficient and particularly Tom. I really recommend this cosy hotel to anyone who will visit Luangprabang.

It is not often that you come across a real gem to which you can not wait to return. This was it. This is a family run hotel where you feel you are a guest stepping into someone's private home. You are asked to remove your shoes as you step across the threshold, and from there, you become part of the family. The rooms are very cosy in dark teak with all the little touches you hope for. Make sure you book breakfast as this is served overlooking the river, and for us, this made the trip. You are right on top of all the major sights, all of which are easily walkable.

I can not say anything negative about this great place to stay.

Great location close to the town centre but overlooking the river so very peaceful during the day. Breakfast by the river a highlight. Walking distance of most of the sites and in good reach of good bars and restaurants. Tom was very helpful throughout our stay and the rest of the staff very friendly.

The downside of the location was the proximity of the monks call to alms- perfect for people staying in the hotel but we experienced a number of people parking their motor homes and tour mini buses at 5.30 am, slamming doors and walking noisily past to reach the event. This resulted in some early mornings for us. This is an issue outside of the hotel’s control.
