Oh wow. I wish I could stay here forever. It’s so cozy, and I loved the old-world charm. The place is very well maintained; the wooden floors and walls are in perfect condition. We had two big beds in our room, which were perfect for me, my son, and my nephew. There’s also a cozy balcony overlooking the street. Despite being in a quiet location, everything is walkable! The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. One of the staff members, Ian (apologies if I misspelled your name), showed us a map, gave us tips on how to get around, handled our laundry (which was done in less than 24 hours), and even booked our bus ride to Hanoi. Breakfast is included, though it’s served off-site. You just need to walk a few meters down to a riverside café. The staff there were so thoughtful—they even packed meals for my son and nephew without us asking, since only three of us went and they were expecting five. (There's free water refill here, too!)

I felt spoiled by the attentive staff who arranged my river cruise and offered cold towels at breakfast. My twin room was spacious, with a desk that made it easy to catch up on work. The garden seating area with shaded umbrellas was perfect for afternoon relaxation. Only complaint: the mattress felt slightly worn and creaked when I turned over. A mattress upgrade would enhance sleep quality even more. Despite that, I’d return in a heartbeat for the warm hospitality, cleanliness, and unbeatable location near Luang Prabang’s best temples.

During our couple's stay, the villa's location on Kounxoau Road proved perfect for alms-giving ceremonies high outside at dawn. Staff members greeted us enthusiastically and stored our luggage when we took an overnight boat trip. Our room was clean, polished wood floors.

Some staff struggled with English, so we needed gestures for directions and communications. Despite the slight language barrier, theirs hospitality and the serene ambiance made our stay memorable.

nder the shade of mahogany trees, the villa’s courtyard was my personal sanctuary. Wooden benches and tables invited me to journal each afternoon. My single room’s balcony looked out to potted orchids and hummingbirds. Staff always checked in politely to ensure I lacked nothing. Even with the bustling city just blocks away, nights here were whisper-quiet, making sleep effortless. A hidden gem I’ll recommend to every friend heading to Laos.

Rooms were lovely and clean with everything you would need. The receptionist was very helpful too and we booked some activities through them. The breakfast is at a restaurant which is about a 1-2 minute walk away which I didn’t mind as you got to sit by the waterfront and for a buffet breakfast it was nice they had some Asian and western breakfast bits like fried rice and eggs but also toast, croissants and jam. Overall a very nice place for the price you pay it’s good value I don’t know why the other reviews are so negative.

- Location was great. It is within walking distance to the busier areas of Luang Prabang, but being a bit outside of that area resulted in a really quiet and serene stay. Monks accept alms right in front of the villa without any crowds. There are a few temples within a few blocks of the villa. - Room was very clean. Housekeeping came in daily. Water is provided in the room and more can be obtained from a water cooler in the lobby. AC was great. - Breakfast was good. It's a buffet breakfast served at a restaurant on the river about a block from the hotel. It was a nice opportunity to visit a restaurant on the river. - Staff was good overall. Most of them spoke enough English to get by and someone was at the front desk 24 hours. The man at the front desk in the morning was very helpful with helping others give alms to the monks and walked us directly to the breakfast restaurant. They were also good at responding to emails and offered transfers from the train station.

- The shower was disappointing. Water pressure was low and hot water was rather limited. - Shoes must be taken off before entering the villa. This wasn't an issue for us, but be prepared and try to wear shoes that are easy to take off. - I thought that we had booked a room with a balcony, but we ended up on the ground floor. It was fine overall, but make sure to confirm that your room will have a balcony if this is important to you.

Well located a block from the Mekong with comfortable, clean rooms in the old city Ammata was a good option in a city with so many guest houses.

We stayed here 10 years ago and were a little disappointed with the reception area as we came and went- they were always glued to their phones and never looked up.The buffet breakfast was located 200 metres away and wasn’t very good - we ate there only twice in the six days we were there.

Mr.Vong who work at reception is very helpful and friendly! When we come, he bring for us city map and recommend all place to do and see in Luang Prabang, I booked one day tour to go Pak ou cave by slow boat and go to Kuang Si Waterfall. That is amazing! He can help all thing I need, sim internet, washing cloth and bike,… And in the morning, he bring me to breakfast at restaurant on the bank of Mekong river, that is live view and full energy for us all day! Very friendly staff in a great location! The rooms were spacious and clean and all service was great! We loved being able to watch the procession from the balcony.

We would have preferred fresh coffee instead of the pre-brewed one for breakfast and an extra bin inside the bedroom (there was one in the bathroom) would be a great addition. Those are very small complaints though and it was excellent value for money!

The location was amazing. Not only was it near the river and a quick walk to historic centre, but it was on the monks alms route. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful with inquiries. Breakfast down the street on the river was really good as were staff at the restuarant.

The room was very clean, but a bit spare.
