Michael (the owner) is an excellent host and goes out of his way to make sure every guest has a good stay. He knows everyone by name and is very helpful with booking activities / onward travel. I needed a computer to do my university application and he set one up in my room for me! The complimentary breakfast is varied and delicious. Room was good and clean.

The highlight is the included breakfast which is the best I ever had in a hostel. You get a choice of several options and a big bowl of fruit. The staff is very nice and always ready to help you plan your stay in vang vieng. The beds are comfortable and the rooms stay dark which is nice for a sleep in. Good value

It's was very quiet when I was there. This could be a positive depending on your preferences. The bunk beds have no curtains. No control over aircon.(but staff is friendly and flexible with it)

One of the best hostel stays I've had. I came in late at night and i could still check in. The dorms were super clean , comfy bed , air-con work well . They put me in a female dorm and the people there were super friendly. Its located at the heart of town so its very accessible. They helped me book all the tour , hot air balloon ride and train ticket to Luang Prabang Overall 10/10 would recommend.

The staff is so friendly, helpful and attentive. Michael runs a really smooth operation, and his interactions with each and every guest are top notch. I was very impressed during my stay, and the facilities all met my expectations. The location is very favorable for a night out in town. The breakfast involves quite a lot of fresh fruit, which I was very pleased with. I would certainly stay here again in the future.

There were no social activities in the hostel to spark new friendships. Nonetheless, I had no trouble meeting many new friends, which I somewhat attribute to the nature of Vang Vieng as a city. It's just the right size to see everyone you've encountered in recent cities/activities.

We loved our stay here!!! The host was so kind and went out of his way to accommodate us- booking taxis, trips and just generally being so nice. Plus the dog Jack is so cute!

I had a really lovely stay here - so lovely that I ended up staying for a week! Michael was a big reason for this and Jack Sparrow the dog😊 He was so kind and made me feel very welcome, he always helped me with anything I needed. The accommodation was very clean and served the best free breakfast I’ve had during any of my stays whilst travelling! The rooms were comfortable and the other guests were very friendly - I found it very easy to meet other travelers here. The location is good, everything in the town was within walking distance. Thank you so much Michael, I’ll be coming to visit you and Jack Sparrow again 💛

I stayed in a private room and had the basics in needed. The common/break area is great way to meet people if that’s. What you’re after. Decent breakfast with tea or coffee included. Good location. I would stay again.

Nothing really. One there was storm and it was very noisy lots of banging and rattling on the building but minor and can’t be helped.

Vang Vieng wouldn’t be the same without Vang ViengRock Hostel and especially Michael and his crew. I will seriously go back to Vang Vieng just to visit them. So clean, so accommodating and super affordable for what you get. Free brekkie too. Can’t go wrong.

nothing to complain

We were expecting a crazy party hostel and we're pleasantly surprised! There was some music on a couple of nights but nothing loud. Loved the pool table and football table downstairs. Lots of seating and ability to socialise but also possible to stay in your own space if you want. Our room was clean and spacious. Couldn't hear anything from the downstairs area. Rooftop was lovely and rarely anyone there so could work and do yoga in peace! Breakfast was huge and delicious. Michael was beyond helpful - sorting out everything and anything at the drop of a hat and even driving out of his way to help us with our bike. Highly recommend for this price!

We put in a white wash and clothes did not come back clean

The receptionist is nice and you can book a lot of tours or buses to other cities with them. They speak English well and you get a free baguette omelette in the morning with some cut fruit. The rooms were nice and fairly clean and plenty of showers and sinks. I never had to wait to take a shower.

Nothing I disliked about the stay.
