Lovely homestay in the middle of the mangroves. You can spot waterbirds, monitor lizards and monkeys from the window of your room! Boats and kayaks are available to borrow for free. Sometimes, it smelled the way mangroves smell, but only on the walkways, never in the room. We had a room with king size bed, which was great, except neither mobile internet nor wifi reached there (but they do reach the main area and probably most of the other rooms). Attached to a seafood restaurant, and there is a supermarket and a laundry service nearby. The reception desk seems to be staffed 24 hours a day, but not all of the night staff speak English.

What a truly amazing place. It was food for the soul. Total bliss from the staff to the view to the room. Imagine a wooden cabin on the edge of the ocean, surrounded with trees, sitting in a rocking chair on the veranda of your room watching the fish jumping playfully in and out of the water, They even provide a fishing rod if you wish. As the tide ebbs out, the herons come gracefully walking along standing patiently for their catch . A kettle with fresh water and coffee is replenished. The bed is so comfortable and the sheets and duvet fresh white linen. Although it is remote, there are shops, supermarket , laundry and eating places within minutes walk . If you want to treat yourself to a relaxing stay, you can't do better than here. I booked for 2 nights and stayed 10 ✨

I like the concept of fishing & relaxing at the balcony. Space enough for a family of 5. Near convenience store n restaurant. The seafood restaurant had very nice food especially the tomyam. Love it

The room lock always malfunction. Should repair for safety purposes. We didn't lock the room always because its really hard to unlock it. Bathroom got no hook to hang the towels. That is so basic to put in bathroom.

Relaxing stay at Gayang Friendly. Staff friendly and speak English. Parking for car in n front of homestay is Restaurant onsite, open 11am. Wifi strong in reception area but no coverage in room. Bed comfortable. Good aircon. Nice view of water. Bathroom very small. Water in shower hot. Quiet at night.

What a gem of a place!! awesome views! Comfy beds. Near to a few good eateries or you can eat at the attached Thai seafood restaurant.

Nothing but some people might find the place needs to have some work done. Skitting boards are coming off , sinks loose, toilet seat loose, door lock a little bit wonky. We didn't mind for the price!view made up for it

Great views, clean, friendly staff, free kayak out into the mangroves, birds, very recomendable, the places merits are well worth its shortcomings, choose your room well, I prefer the "chalets" with a view.

Bathroom small but fine, room enormous, slight smell at low tide but ok, noisy lizards on roof but no real problem.

We booked for one night and ended up staying five nights! The staff is very friendly everyday giving us coffee, water and soap. We had the room with the balcony and we could fish right from there! We also took the boat out on the harbour. We spotted monkeys and some big lizard. They also have a little gym that we could use. Very close to shabandar beach and karambunai beach.

Plastic! Plastic! Plastic! Completely ruining the entrance to the homestay!!! Unfortunately this seems to be a problem everywhere in Sabah. (And Sarawak)

Lovely for a nature lovers...high tide u see water along the mangroves, low tide see biodiversity of baby crabs, monitor lizard, storks, monkeys and some other species of birds...the room is clean and roomy but lobby dusty. Reception lady very helpful

The room is spacious and clean. The atmosphere is nice, can enjoy the kayaking.

The armchair is very old, the curtain looks old and the toilets to small and old, it looks like will get crack or spoil any time.
