The spa massage was amazing and the crew very nice and helpful. The coral project team was interesting to learn more about sea life, we had very nice talk. It's a very good place to relax, meditate and rest. Also depending on the bungalow you get you can have a very good view and a pleasant terrace to enjoy the sun with the sound of the sea but it's not the case in all of them as the privacy can be different.

The prices are very high compared to similar resorts in south east asia, I would say minimum 25% to 30% higher. You need to deal with many stairs to go up and down with the sun. It can also be a bit rustic as water and electricity shut down, however that's usually part of the experience on an islands. The taxi boats of the island are a bit expensive, especially traveling alone, about 5 MYR per minute after 7pm but this is not specific to the resort.

Absolutely everything. From the incredibly kind and accommodating staff who were ready to help and answer any questions with a smile on their face, to the room, which was spacious and very comfortable, to the incredible excursions planned in order to explore the islands, to the views of the sea with the baby sharks and tiny fish that swim peacefully around you, everything was more than anyone could ask for. It felt like much more than a hotel, it was more like an ongoing adventure and learning experience about the sea creatures, how they restore and help keep the coral reefs safe and so much more. We loved everything about it and didn’t want to leave.

I genuinely cannot think of anything I didn’t like.

The views from the room and rooftop were absolutely stunning. The food was delicious and the full-board meal plan was convenient. Staff were polite and helpful. The eco-friendly concept is admirable. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable.

Too many stairs between facilities — not suitable for elderly guests. The beach was rocky and difficult to swim in. No water bottles (even glass) were provided in the room. Instead, we were given metal bottles and had to walk up and down several stairs to refill them from a shared station. Shampoo and soap were very weak. Only one toilet paper roll was provided for three guests, and the trash bin was very small. No iron was available in the room.

The resort was designed and built with huge sympathy to the environment, without the use of heavy equipment. The villas blend into the hillside and have beautiful views. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, it feels like nothing is too much trouble. The food was fresh and tasty. The boat trips which were included were excellent and well-organised, providing a chance to see the corals, varied sea life, and beautiful beaches.

There are a lot of steps, so you need to be reasonably fit and mobile.

I loved the location of the hotel- it’s in a beautiful bay with a home reef. The swimming pool was excellent as well. You can walk easily to fisherman’s village (15 mins) to see the floating mosque and I walked to Long Beach which was further (over an hour) but also stunning en route- past quiet bays. My teenage boys dived at Sea Voice divers who picked them up from the hotel jetty each day. They absolutely loved the dive centre and its friendly and knowledgeable staff. Be sure to contact them in advance to book diving if travelling in July/August. We all had a fabulous holiday.

I was worried it didn’t have a dive centre but Sea Voice Divers were superb so that didn’t matter in the end. If you are diving the all inclusive deal makes less financial sense because it includes snorkeling which my children didn’t use. I think Alunan could possibly benefit from visible hotel managers- which we have experienced in Indonesia. This isn’t a top luxury hotel - e.g. you have to arrange your airport transfers (although the hotel staff are helpful with this). Also, table mats would be nice! The buffet was small but I think that was to avoid food waste which I totally appreciated.

We stayed in the family suite, it was very spacious with a clean and modern look. Had an amazing view and the amenities were great. The staff were super friendly and helpful, Special thanks to: Front reception: Diana, Priscilla, Cel, Asyiqin, Fatin Breakfast staff: Aidil and Hasni General staff: Adnan We also booked scuba diving with the coral reef project, Haqim the instructor is extremely caring in the water and made the experience very safe and enjoyable. Alunan has a great ethos around caring for the beautiful natural beauty and takes care not to damage the coral reef. Loved our stay here

The availability of water dispenser. Availability of renting SUP and kayak.Really convenient as we get to do the activity in front of the hotel. The hilly walk towards the room as u get a bit of exercise. Within 10mins walking/short hike to fisherman's village - convenient Nice SPA - had a good spa session there.

We couldn't watch TV as it appears to have WiFi issue, could not be connected. But since we had our phones plus doing outdoor activities,hence wasn't much of a problem.

Amazing staff, great excursions, great air conditioning and Babu was a lovely and affordable restaurant

The breakfast could have been much better. There was a lack of common sense with some things i.e no coffee available because machine wasn’t working bc of storm, but they could have offered instant! And then the receptionist and excision staff communication was lacking- you’d hear one throng that would then be corrected by another. An fyi, there is availability to get cash out at Fisherman’s village and in between coral bay and long beach. There is no ATM - you need to do a transaction and they’ll give you the cash.

Breakfast buffet was adequately sufficient & tasty. Bayu restaurant has the best view🤩 Located on a private beach. Away from crowded waters (Long Beach is full of parked boats with their sharp anchors protruding on the beach! Hazardous! Plus we’d have to swim in between the boats!) Alunan’s private beach is nice & quiet for our enjoyment. Alunan is THE BEST of Perhentian’s resorts. Modern & CLEAN rooms & facilities. CLEAN food preparation areas & CLEAN & comfortable dining areas. Walkways & common facilities are maintained clean all the time! Kudos!

Menu is quite pricey 😅 I loved the slopes Alunan is on. Some may find it a challenge to move about especially if their rooms are far on top😅

It’s close to both nature and sea. Alunan Resort offered me and my family the best and excellent accommodation, programs and basically all the things that we needed. The management and staffs there really treated us like family. We were very well taken care of. I am so glad that we have chosen Alunan Resort.
