There is nothing not to like at this hotel. ALL of the staff at this hotel were amazing, totally professional, totally friendly, totally efficient and helpful. The rooms and the entire hotel positively shone, immaculately clean, large well equipped rooms, reception area sparkled along with the staff and Manager Lia and Gilbert who worked reception. Can not speak highly enough of ALL the staff at the Abell. Rooms large, light and super comfortable.Breakfast was great, very well presented and if there was some breakfast food you wanted then they would supply for you. Perfectly located near food, the riverwalk and street art. Thank you to all for a great holiday. Denise and Mark.

Nothing to not like.

The location was great value for money where there was an abundance of eateries close by and close to major attractions. I was fortunate enough to stay when the place had completed refurbishments. The refurbishments have been beautifully done. The room I stayed in looks very modern and was very comfortable. All the staff were also so friendly and hospitable! I really enjoyed my stay here.

Very minor (stopping me from giving a 10) - the room didn't have natural lighting. The window strip in my room had lighting coming from the artificial light in the hallway. This was a very minor issue given the room was very comfortable.

Our 1st time to Kuching...surprised to noticed how near the hotel to waterfront..Room ok..clean and comfort. Muslim restorant just below... Location is superb..👍

Parking area bit confusing...small and construction nearby during our visit.

The room and everything was great. The hotel is right next to the iconic cat statue and few mins walk from waterfront and the river bridge. No complaints about the room or service. I got included buffet-style breakfast, which was decent, and changed different types of food during the 3 days I stayed there, so it's OK. I usually ate early (around 6.30am) so I can't guarantee any food was left if you wake up late.

Staff asked me for a 100RM deposit on check in. I didn't care since I actually had 100rm available, and almost forgot about it. At check out, I remembered, and was like "hey where's my deposit"? The staff seemed to have no idea what was going on, and was asking me for a RECEIPT of deposit (?!) and it didn't seem they were going to give it back to me until another staff member showed up and magically produced an envelope with the original cash I had given at check-in. This was really weird. I'm guessing they were hoping that most people staying there will forget and check-out without retrieving the deposit. If you are asked for one, make sure to keep whatever receipt they give you (I don't even remember if I got one, if I did, I probably tossed it).

The location is very good, just a short walk from the marina and in walking distance to restaurants, shops etc. The staff were all very lovely, present, and attentive. The breakfast is decent and the restaurant serves lunch and evening meals too, I didn't try it because there weren't many veggie options but I noticed that it has very good reviews. The room was standard and a little dated in terms of interior but I thought it was very comfortable, clean and had all the amenities. The price is very reasonable and perfect for couples and solo travellers like me. Definitely recommend!

Generally clean and neat, well positioned locally. Good value for money.

Bathroom seem a bit small in the shower area, had quite a number of sandflies and not so nice smells coming up from the toilet but I guess that’s just age or we got unlucky. Tolerable for the price.

Great value for money in terms of location and facilities. The buffet breakfast offers a decent spread, but be sure to check out the Carvery Restaurant's dinner menu — food is excellent, & ambience is equally impressive.

While the room was spotlessly clean, there was a 'leftover' item found in the toilet — possibly overlooked during inspection. Kindly be more thorough in future checks.

I had a large king size corner room, comfortable, clean and quiet. The hotel is in a good location short walk to the water front area decent shopping close by and lots of places to eat. Also the hotel restaurant is excellent good food quality and selection. The staff are very good.

The only thing that was slightly bothersome was the internet. It worked, however intermittently it may have been the network issue.

Room, bedsheet, towels, bathroom all clean. No dust at all, except for some cracks and tiny stains on wall and windows which are understandable since the building seems old. All amenities provided. Small but enough for me. Staff friendly and helpful. Location just 3 minutes walk to the famous Poh Lam Laksa. Opposite has food too and must try the ice cream kiosk selling gula apong ice cream! 10 minutes walk to waterfront, old bazaar, 15 minutes walk to the old court house and carpenter street. Kuching is very walkable except for the hot weather. Grab easily available, easy to find hotel.

My room is by the street so in the morning there's quite some traffic. Also room wall quite thin. I can hear next door sneezing and coughing pretty clearly. My first impression got ruined actually because the first room I checked in was smaller, smelly, kettle and cups have noodles and ants inside, dusty, cracked walls and windows. The dusty dirty floor stained my feet just 1 minute in the room. I was so shocked and requested help from front desk and they suggested a room change and got the nice room after. Not too sure why the front desk was not informed about the dirty room and had me checked in. Also, I think that the hotel prices in the city a bit pricey for the quality, not just this hotel.

Good breakfast variety. We are light sleepers but we slept well for a room facing the street. We booked a twin room as that’s the only option available online but staff asked if we wanted a queen bedroom - which is great. Cold fridge and fully equipped.

Room is not well maintained with very noticeable marks, however it is clean.
