The property is very quaint and cozy. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. I love that it’s directly on the beach. I enjoyed the food and most of the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good Every Day.

The one thing that stood out to me the most was one staff member in particular. I’m not sure why he was very unpleasant to us and even raised his voice a bit my last morning when I approached the main food area by the lobby to ask for a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise. He was pleasant to other guests. The previous days, I noticed that he puts efforts to not interact with me and friend in the dinning area. He just ignored us by turning around, not making eye contact and ignoring us even when we kinda waved at him as he served and chatted with a table next to us.

Small charming hotel, with very nice green garden where you may see local animals hanging around. Every morning we watched sunrise in the beach, during this time they offer coffee for the early birds! After that we went to yoga class. The bed and pillows were good, room was quiet, rooms are very basic, and nothing special. Hotel personnel is very kind and helpful. We arrived at 10AM and got the room right away. Day before I asked for early check in with an extra charge, but they refused. During check in at 10AM they did not ask any money for early check in. Food: Very good breakfast and dinner. In the morning, some food is served as buffee, most of the main dishes have to be ordered, some dishes were with extra charge, however there is no need to pay extra as there are many options that you can order for free. Dinner - soup and salat is served as buffee, main course and dessert has to be ordered separately. Every day the menu changes, there were two options of main dish and dessert. Food and the drinks in the beach bar is also very good. Food prices at the beach are very reasonable, cocktails start for 185MXN. Beach: small and charming beach area, the area is not big, however there were always free sun beds. For swimming, I suggest to use swimming shoes, as there are some rocks in the sea. If someone wants to snorkel, then there is nothing to see. Shops and walking around: The hotel is far away from Playa del Carmen centre - you have to take a taxi. There is nowhere to walk around in the neighbourhood, closest shop is 1.4km far away. We went to the shop few times, however we did not miss the "walking around" part at all. Would definitely stay again in this hotel! :)

We had a wonderful stay at Petit Lafitte - the food and staff were terrific. We didn't have the all-inclusive dinner option but ended up having dinner at the hotel most nights because the food was so good. We loved the secluded pool and private beach (the swimming area is a few hundred feet to the right - and the beach was objectively better than the beaches in front of the 5-star luxury resorts in the area) Our room and beds were very comfortable; the wifi worked well for my husband, who had to take work calls. We had an issue with our room AC, which was fixed immediately. Petit Lafitte is such a relaxing hotel; it didn't feel crowded, and it's family-friendly (not a party crowd) I enjoyed the daily yoga and the lazy afternoons spent on the beach. We will definitely be back.

My husband is a runner and says the area around the hotel is not so great for runs. Our room had 2 double beds (full size) and we're quite tall, so next time we'll make sure to book the king size bed.

It was like stepping back in time the simplicity of it was top notch The attention to detail in the food was beyond my expectations. All staff went above and beyond to be friendly and it was amazing they would remember your room number. It’s a small resort and it was everything my husband and I were looking for. It’s not a big party place it’s relaxing and friendly.we celebrated our 30 year anniversary here and we will become a regular visitor. If your looking for relaxation great food great drinks not having to make reservations to eat or have a dress code THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE.

For us there wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

Such a charming and beautiful place! We loved being right on the beach, doing yoga every morning (the instructor was fantastic at Spanish + English instruction), and the staff were so kind and helpful. The food was also really good - it was thoughtful and made with high quality ingredients. For breakfast they had a great buffet with made to order options as well, lunch and drinks were for sale at the cute bar and patio overlooking the water, and dinner was either a buffet or made to order with a few nice options. Overall this place is fantastic and I can find no faults. We hope to be back!

This is the nicest place you can find around Playa del Carmen that is beachfront for sure. It has lots of character, it’s very nice and clean, the staff is great -very friendly, food is good (they easily accommodated one of us being vegetarian). The live entertainment was very nice, and one evening they even served dinner on the beach terrace with a bbq and bonfire. plenty of beach chairs and early coffee is provided if you wanna see the sunrise. You can’t indeed swim in the see right in front-you can dip your toes in to cool down though, but the piece where you can swim is really not far, only a few meters away.

The rooms aren’t the quietest, the fridge is rather noisy and in our room (on the top floor) you could hear the rain and wind quite strongly, but nothing earplugs can’t fix.

The bungalows with the nice sitting platform on it is wonderful. Very close to the beach. There are 3 types of bungalows; ocean front, ocean view and garden view, Ocean view might see the ocean from a little back, but still beautiful. Inside is quite comfortable, beside a big double bed, there is also one bunk-bed on the bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were also very good; besides open buffet, you choose from the menu for the breakfast and they give at least 2-options for the dinner. There was different music for all of the 5-nights. Bar in front of the ocean is great as well. They garden is beautiful, full of birds and nice plants. Monkeys were around, it was great to see them; only for 1-day. The other days our daughter waited for them, but they do not show up. I made yoga for 2 mornings, and it was also so good. Free sunbeds were available to enjoy the ocean under the coconut trees. They provided us the breakfast boxes for the days that we took the tour.

The lobby is definitely not good looking. Neither the neighbor buildings. Hotel is quite far away from the center of Playa del Carmen, not possible to walk (we tried), only option is taking the taxi which is quite expensive. It is worth to mention that all region, and the hotel, is mainly full of Americans. So this situation might be too noisy for others. During the dinners and also for nights, we really suffered. I woke up each time even though I had earplugs due to their noise. During the dinner as well, surrounded by extreme noise...But this is of course not the fault of hotel. Overall, the proximity of the beach and bungalows are just wonderful.

This smaller hotel was absolutely beautiful—so much better than the large five-star resorts in Cancun. It had a peaceful, calming vibe that made it perfect for reading, writing, or just relaxing. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service felt personal and genuine. There was plenty of shade when needed, but the sun and natural light were just stunning. I especially loved the morning sunrise service—it really set the tone for the day. I met a woman who had stayed there four times, and I completely see why. I wish I had extended my stay—it was such a special place, and I’d definitely go back.

The restaurant was lovely and reasonably priced. They do cater to vegetarians, which I appreciated, though the vegetarian dinner option we had wasn’t the best. Also, the bed was quite hard, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable.

Really lovely spot. We came after a couple days at a luxury all-inclusive resort and were so relived to come here. Quiet, no crowds, lovely bungalows! Stayed with young kids and elderly parents and everyone had an amazing time. Plenty of chairs at the beach, very comfy chairs. Wonderful massages and very reasonably prized. Would absolutely recommend if you are looking for a quiet getaway and don’t need all the entertainment at the big resorts. Our kids (6 and 8) preferred this over slides and kids-clubs. Many European families (like us) so it was nice to be with likeminded people who were looking for the same (relaxing) experience.

The staff was not the friendliest. We’re not used to big tipping in Europe (but still did) and felt they were not too keen to provide amazing service in the restaurants. Prices of the lunch was quite high.

A wonderful small hotel/resort, with a Mexican design and atmosphere, where you can enjoy a swim in the pool and then take a short 20-meter stroll to the lovely beach, with sun beds and hammocks. The food is delicious and varied, with live music most evenings and special holiday menus. The staff is incredibly friendly and keeps the property spotless. The beach bar offers stunning views, and there's Wi-Fi reception throughout the property, including on the beach.

The location, while secluded and peaceful, has limited transportation options. Situated outside the city and surrounded by large resorts, getting around often requires assistance from the reception, which can be costly. As an alternative, we communicated directly with a local taxi driver and negotiated a lower fare.
