I loved staying here, the property is beautiful and it smelt amazing too. I wish I had had time to stay another night; the roof terrace is lovely with comfy sofas and sunbeds to soak up the sunshine on. I loved that the water in my room was filtered and in a carafe, thus avoiding plastic. There needs to be more of this in Morocco. The omelettes at breakfast were divine. It was the best breakfast I had during my stay in Morocco. The location was great, just a short walk to the shops and restaurants, and to the ramparts. I did a cooking class while in Essaouira and brought back leftovers which I was able to put in the communal fridge and had for my picnic lunch the next day; great facility to have. Highly recommend and I would definitely return, if I'm lucky enough to.

The hairdryer in my room could do with replacing; it worked but the attachment falls off. Only a very minor inconvenience. There wasn't really anything not to like.

A truly wonderful Moroccan experience. This Riad is in the Medina, so from when you leave the taxi and have your bags carried to the riad the journey continues. All the decor throughout the riad is so authentically Moroccan & I loved it! From the roof terrace you can see all of Essaouira’s medina to the waves breaking on the beach. A real highlight was having my breakfast on the rooftop terrace. The owners are terrific at communicating and gave me great instructions for my arrival & stay. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for taking my perfume allergy into account. The room choice was perfect with windows to the outside! We found the Riad and our room beautiful, good bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Diner our first evening was delicious. The breakfast every morning on the roof terrace was wonderful. Deliciously prepared. Starting the morning like this was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful, lovely Essaouira. If we come back again, we will book with you again, Kind regards

It is very humid here, which is not their fault, however the rooms have very little ventilation, and no AC units, so our room was incredibly muggy and smelled of mildew, and everything felt wet, including trying to get in bed with wet feeling sheets and pillows which made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. We complained about this the next morning and the staff was quick to set a dehumidifier in our room which helped clear out some humidity. I would suggest to invest in a dehumidifier permanently in every room as this is a problem in the rooms. My parents room at least had windows to the outside which helped with airflow during the day, but still very muggy.

We loved the riad and we can highly recommend it! It‘s in the middle of the Medina and it‘s very calm during the night. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace is absolutely amazing. We also profited from a cosy almost-private 3 course dinner, home-cooked. The rooms are stylish and clean. We had quite a small room, which was fine - but we missed bigger windows (there were only two small ones at the top of the wall). Some rooms are close to the staircase, you might want to ask the staff beforehand if you can get one a bit more in a corner.

What a lovely place to stay in Essaouira. Close to everything, and extremely comfortable. The rooftop patio has a spectacular view of the water, and breakfast up there each morning was lovely.

There were some small gnat-like bugs in our room, up in the canopy above our bed and in the bathroom sink/shower. they seemed harmless, but was nonetheless a bit off putting compared to the lux feel of the rest of the lodging. In addition, one night there we decided to do dinner at the riad. The service and food were great--an incredible lentil and veg salad with a sardine tagine-but the ambiance was pretty lacking. Not a deal breaker, just noting you'll be in the room off the lobby with bright lights, no music and no windows--I imagine that once weather is nicer dinner may be hosted on the rooftop, which would be quite nice, might be worth asking ahead of reserving.

The staff were amazing and very well organised at Riad Lyon-Mogador! Incredibly friendly and so helpful. At the start of your stay, they take you through a map of Essaouira and send you recommended restaurants and activities via WhatsApp so you always have them to refer back to. We booked a 2 hour horseride through the riad and they were quick to book and help us out. The riad is in a good location in the medina, around a 10min walk to the beach and fishing port and really close to loads of good restaurants and shops. The rooftop was lovely and breakfast was served there every morning which was amazing - fresh fruit, orange juice, eggs and pastries every morning! All in all, this riad was good value for money

Our room was very small with tiny windows up high so you couldn't see out. Only one of the windows, which was in the bathroom, opened, so the room was quite hot and stuffy during our stay. Although the bathroom was spacious and well equipped, it did have black mould growing due to the lack of air being able to get to the room.

Everything was fantastic, and the hosts are the most amazing people. Our room was wonderfully decorated and super clean. The property is old and the rooms are on the smaller side which we didn't mind. The perks are lovely big windows, and we especially enjoyed the decoration in the bathroom, which was not small at all! The breakfast is fantastic, at it very much felt french in a way, with great croissants and eggs. The terrace at the top offers amazing views of the ocean, it's super picturesque and great to lounge and enjoy the views of the city. The location is in the middle of medina, but not busy street at all.

I cannot even say how much we loved staying here. The location couldn’t have been better and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. We wished we could have stayed longer. The breakfast was the best we had anywhere in Morocco as was the accommodation which was clean and comfortable. I cannot recommend Riad Lyon Mogador enough. It would be the only place we would stay returning to Essaouira. Thank you for making our stay special.

The Riad has perfect location and super friendly staff (they even upgraded us to a comfort room just because they could). The place itself looks very new and it's very clean. The terrace is also super nice as it is higher than majority of the buildings around it, so it gives you a pretty nice view. Breakfast was also good.

The room, despite being very cute and furnished with taste, is a bit small. The bathroom is a bit dark (even though I personally enjoyed the vibe) but most importantly it is not separated fully from the rest of the room, is to say: the upper part of the wall is "missing" (by design) resulting in lack of privacy if you are not traveling alone. I think installing a glass top would solve the problem while keeping the esthetic.
