We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hostel! The family that runs it is incredibly kind, supportive, and always ready to help with a warm smile. From booking tickets and renting a car/taxi to planning trips, they go above and beyond to assist their guests—not just as a service but out of genuine care and responsibility. The location is perfect—right in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu—making everything easily accessible within walking distance. The value for the price is unbeatable, offering comfort, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for couples and groups of friends looking for a cozy and hassle-free experience in Kathmandu.

Highly recommend staying at Bag Packer’s Lodge if visiting Kathmandu. The staff are unbelievably kind, communicative and generous with information regarding Kathmandu/transport/hiking, etc. The whole building is kept in immaculate condition. We booked a room with a shared bathroom and it was always clean! The breakfast is modest and yummy. The upstairs restaurant is also fantastic. Perfect location. We’ve stayed in a couple of places in Kathmandu between hikes and will now always come back here! Thank you for having us.

The place is absolutely amazing. Right in the heart of the Thamel. We had a very nice room, looking right at the main street, bars and shops. It has a rooftop restaurant. The laundry facility is perfect, very satisfied, very good price. There is non stop reception, safe place. Very clean. Take into consideration that Thamel is a noisy district of Kathmandu, but the Lodge even provides ear plugs.

Great place to stay. Very clean, also the shared bathroom was cleaned up many times a day. Easy location. Shops and restaurants for tourists are everywhere. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I stayed here for twice during my whole trip, because they have a free storage for luggage if you want to save your stuff while hiking or travelling somewhere in between. Also free refill for your water bottle. This was just great place to stay, highly recommend :)

Loved staying here, perfect location on a busy street with lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. Clean room and shared bathroom. Lovely management and staff. We are in the restaurant on the rooftop a couple of times and the food was great also. Highly recommend overall!

Neat and clean room . Helpful staff . Even small hotel service is five star with this money surprised. Restaurant at roof top is bonus for drink ,smoke and food . Hotel is located busy tourist area so I feel bit noise from street but I like it because I saw Thamel hustle and bustle life . Receptionist provide ear plugs but I don't need. I will come after a week again . See you guise .

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and spacious. Wifi was good. The hostel is in Thamel where thee ed majority of tourists are accommodated. Would definitely recommend for those travelling on a budget as it is great value for money.

The reviews we checked before booking are all true. The rooms on the front may get noisy but the staff is kind enough to offer you with ear plugs in advance or you can simply ask it at the reception.

The area has a lot of bars and loud singing at night.no fault of the lodge.

The owner went above and beyond and the staff are very friendly.

The street noise. A city that never sleeps. Although in all fairness they did offer a back room or earplugs which for 2 nights I never took them up on.

Very loud traffic (centric with very thin windows), there is a curfew - door gets closed at night so it is awkward coming back late as a stall member has to wake up to let you in
