Location! Boutique hotel located in a fortress. Accessible to towns outside of Amsterdam.

Hotel was much busier than our previous stay.. Seemed largely occupied by business groups. Didn’t have a relaxed leisure vibe. Restaurant was busy most days and evenings so didn’t have our meals there like we did before. Menu didn’t look as interesting. Not all the staff members knew how to resolve issues and had to wait for someone with the knowledge to fulfill our requests. Unpleasant smell around the lobby hallway restrooms which we had to walk by to access our rooms.

Wonderful central location, beautiful building, welcoming and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable, sofa in my room, lots of lovely little touches. Dad particularly appreciated the piano on the landing! The restaurant area was warm and cosy, with a real feel of it being somewhere locals went to have a coffee and catch up. Breakfast was amazing and definitely worth the price. We also had a delicious and copious dinner there and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Lighting in room was very dim near wardrobe so I couldn't see instructions on safe! And the heating controls were complex - we struggled to get Dad's room warm enough for him, but then he is 85 and it was December!

The air in the room was not the best

Beautiful old building, clean and cosy room, served breakfast, in-house (good) restaurant, free parking at walking distance.

There's no a proper reception. The staff work both for the hotel, the bar and the in-house restaurant but it seems that the hotel has lower priority. We had to wait 3 pm to check-in (in fact the expected time) and then we found another customer's luggage in our room: the receptionist justified saying that somebody from the staff put them in the wrong room. This left us a little bit unsafe. Digital room key may be an issue for those who are not so familiar with digital technology. Indifference of the staff. Considering that it's described as a 4-star hotel we would expect more professionality.

Nice quaint hotel that I would highly recommend. Overall I really enjoyed my room. I loved the cafe on the church property.

When having to climb stairs to get into bed, there should be a light switch in the bed area to turn off the main room light. I would have liked a more secure place to leave my luggage while I explored Naarden after checkout. I came back to get it and it was still in an open location by the bar. I wasn't happy with the breakfast offered for the price. The breakfast was the same as I purchased at a Budget Hotel in a different city which was lower in price as well as all-you-can-eat buffet. I would have preferred to select off the menu for the price I paid.

We got upgraded for free to the suite. The owner apparently doesn't like when the suite stays empty and hands out upgrades consequently. Try your luck, maybe you'll get upgraded too 😊

A small critique about the breakfast. We received a breakfast menu and it would have been nice to be able to know the details and have a choice in the order to reduce waste. Otherwise the breakfast was nice but a bit lackluster compared to other similar hotels.

Checkin was unbelievably easy. We met the friendly staff at the restaurant foyer and received our room assignment along with room access. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless. I must mention the shampoo, soap, and other amenities were the very best! Last but not least the restaurant food was spectacular and the servers were attentive and accommodating. We ate most of our meals at the Vesting restaurant and the Chef even prepared a nice take away lunch for our next train journey. We visited three countries and found accommodations in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France wonderful all the way around. Among the three of us travelers it was unanimous that the Vesting was our favorite amidst some amazing establishments.

We didn’t have any complaints. There is a small elevator to the above floors which is great when you have luggage.

Shower, toilet and sink are all in separate space, so for example when one person is taking a shower, the other can still use the sink.

The toilet room is so small, feeling like you are closed in a tiny space when you’re in there. There is barely space between the toilet and the door that it’s even difficult to properly put your pants back on.

Stayed in Roome 10 (suite) which was absolutely amazing, super high ceilings, fantastics views, great bath on the mezzanine, brilliant showers and the best bed we had during our 3 week trip through Europe.

Seems the gas fired fireplace has been disconnected which was a shame.

The suite is perfect for a romantic week end and the restaurant really worth trying. We were a bit late with checkout and everyone was very kind and gracious about it. The details in the design of the room, the bathroom, the double wall-in shower, all very carefully planned and designed.
