Loved the location - it’s not in the most fancy/expensive part of Muscat but in my opinion Hotel Mutrah area is way better as it is walkable by foot without having to cross major highways. Many nice restaurants and the souq were just a walk away (1-2 km). The room was also super spacious and comfortable with beautiful windows and a nice view to the city and cliffs.

There was a bar next to the hotel and the music was quite loud late at night. The good thing is that it sounded like awesome party music! This hotel is also not very new - maybe some might find it a con, but I personally didn’t.

The staff are all friendly and make sure your stay is comfortable. The restaurant serves delicious food and the bonus is they also serve alcohol should you want a cold beer after walking all day! The breakfast, if you have it included, is plentiful and varied. Our room was huge and water always hot. The hotel is walkable to the Souk and Corniche (2.4 km). From the airport take the A1 bus to Ruwi Bus Station. From there it is easy to order Otaxi (Oman's version of Uber) to Mutrah Hotel.

The rooms are dated although for me this wasn't a negative.

The location is good, 20 min walk to the market and the embankment, you can always take a taxi and go, a taxi is inexpensive. We had a car and free parking at the hotel. The staff is nice, friendly. The hotel has a restaurant and even a club, opposite a couple of cafes and a supermarket. The rooms are ordinary, everything is neat, the price was very cheap, breakfast was brought to the room.

The staff is great, helpful and friendly. The rooms are dated but clean and comfortable. The attached restaurant has great food and the included breakfast is complete and plentiful. The Souk and Corniche are walking distance 2.4 kms. There is a large grocery store across the street. You can buy liquor or beer at the restaurant which is rare in Oman.

I didn't like that some nights music pounds out of a bar and even though we were on the 3rd floor I still had to wear ear plugs

The location is as close to the old city as you will find. I could walk to all of the sights and attractions in the old city. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. My room 302, had perfect air conditioning. A very quiet hotel and the breakfast was superb. Everything was delicious...could not have been better. If you want to stay in the historical area of Muscat this spot is perfect. The price at Mutrah Hotel is in the lower range for Muscat but don't let that dissuade you...this spot is tops in value. There was not a thing I disliked about Mutrah Hotel.

I had low expectations given the hotel was very cost-effective vs others in Muscat so was pleasantly surprised when the room was comfy, the staff helpful and the location good as it was walkable to do the fort, corniche and souq. The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good for the price, and it was nice to be able to order alcohol if you wanted a drink.

The wifi in my room wasn't strong enough to work on my laptop, but I liked the room as it was quiet, so I didn't ask if I could try another room which might have had a better connection.

Last time I visited Muttrah hotel was over 10 years ago. I was happy to see the hotel is still doing well and still has the quaint elevator. The lobby is tastefully decorated with books and Omani artifacts. The rooms are simple and basic but clean. Breakfast was good considering the price we paid. Management allowed us to check out a little late, which was nice. Location is convenient to Muttrah Souq, Ruwi, and Old Muscat. I will be going back!

Kettle and coffee/tea making facilities would be nice.

In terms of price, comfort and location, this is the best option in Muscat. All the main attractions, the embankment, restaurants, supermarkets, a colorful traditional market, and a bus station to the airport are within walking distance. Large and comfortable rooms, fast internet, sufficient breakfast.

This cannot be called a disadvantage, but there is a mosque nearby and the first morning prayer is at about 5 am. These prayers did not bother us; we slept peacefully with open windows. But if this is an inconvenience for you, then ask for a room on the street side, and not in the courtyard.

I stayed here two nights on a 32 hour stopover in Muscat. This is the oldest hotel in Muscat. I arrived at about 2am and left at about 6.30am the next day. I slept in for breakfast on the first day and when I was leaving on the 2nd day at 6.30 the staff kindly (although I didn't ask for it) offered to make me an earlier breakfast in takeaway form which I thought was absolutely lovely and much appreciated because it was before the kitchen had even opened. The room was spacious and comfy with a big window and nice shower. Taxi to other areas was not expensive and easy to get on the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Its a wonderful place in Old Muscat. The price is on the higher side but if you are traveling in Muscat and want to be close to Old City then this is the best deal. The staff is nice, helpful and is always available.

Check in was very late but that is understandable.
