My husband, daughter and I had a very enjoyable 2-night stay here, during our August visit to Praia de Mira. There was a bit of confusion at check-in, as we thought we had indicated a child with us (on Booking.com), but reception said no and we had to pay a bit extra for a cot. The boutique nature of Macarico felt intimate, yet somewhat decadent (after staying with family & a Holiday Inn). Lovely and fun "themed" décor, very comfortable room, excellent amenities, friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast, and quiet! LOVED the heated pool; 12yo wanted jacuzzi to be hotter, but you couldn't increase the temp. Great view of beach; you really feel like you're right there in the heart of things. Just the right atmosphere for both adults and kids to enjoy.

Since a cot was added to the room, it was a bit cramped and awkward. (The small table and two chairs were moved to just outside the bathroom. The bathroom has a glass wall that looks into the shower, which was inappropriate for when our 12yo daughter was using it; (husband had to go onto the balcony.) Also, the elevators continuously were not working... Not a big deal for us, but would be for someone with compromised mobility. And, of course, it would be nice if it was a bit less pricey! ;)

The staff, the decor, the architecture, the breakfast

The location area is a bit too packed with buildings, several of which are not that scenery pleasing. The pool is nice but too small for the number of guests, although only once it was too crowded for my taste. The garage access was a bit cumbersome, but we managed to park on the street most times.

Everything! So clean, spacious rooms and fantastic breakfast. Staff were lovely and it was right across from the beach. We had a balcony overlooking garden terrace with restful sound of a little water feature.

Location right on the beach. Room amenities. Indoor parking. Indoor pool and jacuzzi on top floor. Great breakfast included.

Mattress was on the hard side.

Great hotel to stay at, beach just over the road. Parking outside can be difficult but you can pay extra for the use of the hotel car park. Exceptionally clean, stylish rooms with the all important fluffy towels, all staff super helpful and friendly. The hotel only serves breakfast but great local authentic restaurants nearby.

My only bug bear would be that the room said had coffee/tea making facilities but only provided 2 pods for the machine so you had to pay for extra. This should be pointed out in the info.

Location to the beach and nearby restaurants were excellent. On site party garage was a bonus. Room ocean view was best in the area.

Perfect location next to the beach. Friendly staff. Breakfast is superb. Room well cleaned.

Staff seems permanently undermanned. The same person did the vacuuming, reception and bar duty all at the same time, with the expected results. It also was a bit funny giving the Fawlty Towers feel ;-). Some of the facilities (like Jacuzzi )were unavailable.

loved the location and the ocean views from the balcony. The room was spacious and very clean

The bed was uncomfortable and rock hard. We slept on top of the blankets to try and make it a bit better. But still woke up a few times a night because of the hard bed. Heavy sewage smells from the shower luckily stayed in the shower if you kept the showerdoor closed all day.

Hotel on beachfront , with lake a short walk behind hotel too. We stopped overnight on our cycle tour - helpful with bike storage. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Beachfront lovely, and walk along lake behind hotel even nicer.

Arrived on a Sunday of a long weekend in Portugal and beachfront very busy and crowded. However, by Monday morning crowds had gone, and peace returned!
