The property is set in a beautiful location, absolutely picturesque. The views are incredible and the house is in immaculate condition.

The property itself is absolutely beautiful and I could not fault the place or staff who were extremely helpful and go above and beyond. However I was disappointed with the room we paid for. The room itself was described as “Superior twin room - Garden house” the images on booking.com showed a balcony, but we did not have a balcony. This is misleading, and was the reason we paid extra - to get a balcony. We checked the images on booking.com again and other rooms didn’t have a balcony, So the room we paid for was what we should have got. I don’t think a room with a balcony and a room without should be priced the same. This is misleading. The dinner was ok but not the standard of a 5 star resort. However the breakfast was beautiful.

The service was outstanding in every aspect. The staff made you feel at home and very relaxed in this beautiful, intimate property. One member of staff that really stood out was Joao in the restaurant, impeccable and exceptional interpersonal skills. Also, the food is delicious and a very good wine selection is available. A must is a massage from either Hannah, both highly skilled and delightful. The house dog, Wisdom, is the master of all as most Dachshunds are.

We had a wonderful time at this amazingly located gem of a hotel. Even in the pouring rain, this place looked spectacular. We loved watching the clouds roll in and out over the mountains. Staff were exceptional, so professional and kind. We loved the food and the kids had such fun exploring the grounds with a little bit of freedom. We will definitely be back. Such a quick ride from lisbon, even in a Bolt if needed.

We, a family of 3 and a dog, spent 4 worderful days at Hotel Casa Palmela. This wonderful property is set amongst picturesque lanscapes and vines near Setubal. The hotel itself is very beautiful and very well maintained. It has 2 swimming pools, one is more like for quiet rest of adults and the other one is more for splashing with kinds and it is bigger. We surely used the bigger one more. We also liked our room with a little terrace very much, the room had a very cosy and home feeling. The breakfast was good, filling and it was good variety for us. A few words should be said about hotel restaurant for lunches and dinners: the food is really awesome. very tasty, prepared by chef with the use of light hints of African notes. We enjoyed it very much and had all our dinners in the hotel. The sunset view from the terrace of the restaurant is also gorgeous, second to none!

I think I would add more options for lunch at the hotel restaurant. As mentioned above: the level of dining is fantastic, but I think menu could have a bit more variety, especially for lunch.

Lovely location & woods. We loved the restaurant, when Juao Sousa was on service. When he was there service was attentive and worked really well with local food & wine recommendations. Some of the other staff seemed untrained or unsupervised, which we felt on the days when Juao was not there.

Service is something they need to work on. Staff are friendly and attentive, but a lot are either untrained or unsupervised, we are not sure which. Reception staff have no knowledge about activities and don‘t help in coordination. They just give you an email address, which is unsuitable for a house with a 5 star rating. Coordinating their tour operators is something reception should do.

Location is amazing and extremely peaceful and quiet. Perfect to relax.

Staff seemed a bit underprepared, although always helpful. Food is good without being amazing. Having a biologic garden, I would expect another type of cuisine, where the “home” ingredients were the heroes. Meaning everything was good without being memorable. Overall, it all felt a bit overpriced, although I would come back for the quietness , comfort and the fact that is ao close to Lisbon.

Extremely tranquil setting. You were surrounded by peace and quiet all round in a beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely accommodating of us and our little dog throughout our stay. Luxurious and highly recommend. Close to the beautiful Arrabida. Also close to both Sesimbra and Setubal for amazing food options.

We would have hoped that there were free bicycles to explore the vast trails and grounds of the property.

Breakfast was really good with fresh quality food and a decent variety. Service was excellent. We had a great dinner at the restaurant, the for was delicious and the service outstanding. The hotel is very well located, in the countryside with a big forest nearby, but close enough to the city of Setubal to where you can drive in 8 minutes.

There was a little bit of a smell in the room, we booked a room where we could bring our two small dogs, but probably the previous client had a dog which left some urine. A part that it was nice and clean.

The staff were very kind and approachable. We missed breakfast by 10 minutes the next day as we were not told during check-in what time it was at -yes, the pamphlet inside the room did state the times but we were extremely tired after travelling all day and neglected to read it. The restaurant was nice (we decided to stay there for dinner as we were super tired) it was an expensive meal but worth the price as the food was fabulous. The house red wine was one of the best we have ever tried.

The bed was uncomfortable and we had expected it to be better given the cost per night of staying here. The bathroom would benefit from a fan as it got quite steamy after taking showers.

We really enjoyed our stay thanks to the fine accommodations and attentive staff! We especially appreciated the food, fine wines and room attendants that routinely made sure that our room was clean and stocked! Joao Sousa made sure that our dinners and wine were perfectly paired and presented! We cannot thank Joao enough for his graciousness! He commands the dining room like none other I’ve seen anywhere in the world! Between the property itself and staff, our visit to Casa Palmela was an experience that we shall always remember! We look forward to returning soon!

We loved everything about Casa Palmela. There were no negatives!
