This traditional townhouse is located in a quiet neighborhood with an authentic feel to it, and my refurbished room had kept the charm of the times. The waterfront, some major sights, the bus and train station... are all within walking distance. The basic, customized breakfast came with fresh fruits and was included in the price. Staff and host were very friendly and ready to meet some special requests that I had. I stayed during low season (January) and found I surely received value for the money I paid.

My room was situated at the street side. Although the street was very quiet at night the room is situated right on top of a restaurant, and the chatting of customers continued until approximately midnight. A minor point: the mattress was very comfortable, I found, but the pillows seem to be filled with some synthetic (?) material that seemed out of place with all the other natural fabrics and materials in the room.

I have stayed at Alcacaria more than four times and continue to enjoy the tranquillity in comfortable surroundings and a quiet neighbourhood. The property is everything that I need and I enjoy the owner and the day to day manager.

Location, cleanliness, breakfasts and person who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms. Very helpful and friendly. I appreciated the fan in the room. Near to bus and train station, also to park and old part of centre with market and close to river. 30 mins walk to river beach. Close to ferry to Tróia.

Room would have been cramped for 2 people for a stay of more than a couple of nights. For one it was fine.

All went perfectly well, the place is well located, in a quite street however close to the main city Avenue and pretty close to the railway and bus stations. Frankly, I did not expect such a nice room, every detail taken care of with good taste. Confortable bed, everything clean in a warm ambience. The breakfast also exceeded my expectations, again, everything taken care of with good taste. The day of your arrival you fill a "breakfast form" selecting the products you would like to see included in your breakfast, you also set your breakfast time and then the next day when you come to the breakfast patio, everything is there waiting for you at your table, the coffee just made, the milk warm and everything fresh, very nice indeed. The staff is simply amazing, always trying to do their best for a perfect stay. The Wifi also worked perfectly well, differently from any other wifi connection you might have in other similar places that is usually standard, here is better.

The only thing that I missed was a TV set in the room, I understand the idea is make the place as quite and silent as possible, however I am a Tv person, that's why, sorry about that.

It’s a simple BnB with great staff, nice breakfast selection, and a pleasant, simple room, bathroom and small terrace. While it lacks a/c it has a fan and a door that cleverly opens and it remained pleasant although the temperature was over 85f at times. Cannot recommend enough.

The room was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was very good. The building was very interesting. It’s an old building that is well maintained. The attached restaurant was very good with excellent staff. The restaurant’s owner/chef was very friendly and helpful. We liked Setúbal.

The directions to the rooms could be better. The access codes were sent via WhatsApp and I didn’t get them until after we got there and was given access by another guest and the owner of the attached restaurant. No air conditioning. The parking was on street on a busy street.

Super friendly place with decent location to centrum, train station and seaside. The room was small but spotless and freshly renovated and, in the end, perfect for a small family like us (2 adults and one two y.o. baby). Highly recommend choosing the option with breakfast which was very good and served daily by an extremely friendly lady. The greatest thing is a restaurant downstairs serving great Portuguese food and fantastic wine at a decent price. The staff is super friendly and always ready to advise and help. We spent every evening after putting our daughter asleep and leaving with a spy camera while sitting and enjoying our stay downstairs.

The room was great but (for this price) missing small details like extra hangers on the wall and maybe even a small TV. Also, non-tight sliding toilet doors are not very comfortable when you need to use the toilet. They just could be more soundproof.

Extremely clean. Lovely bathroom with good shower. Nice breakfast.

Parking not easy as need to keep topping up the payment - street parking is 4 hours max although free between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. No real storage for clothes in the room.

It was perfect for my needs , it was a 10 minute walk from the centre but near a park so made the walk enjoyable especially when the bagpipe player was practising

A really good choice for the money. The room is a little bit small, but it has everything you will need for a few days. They cleaned a room every day and the breakfast was really good!

The only negative is that they forgot to send us the self check-in details and we arrived pretty late in the night (around 11:30 pm.) And the phone number on the booking.com site is not working, so we asked a few locals to help us out. Thankfully the owner replied quickly so we could get in the room.
