It is incredibly beautiful and well maintained. The stuff is kind, helpful and competent. Located in the heart of Chinatown close to all facilities and attractions but at the same time the rooms are quiet and you can have a good and peaceful rest.

The location was fantastic!!! The vibe, energy and buzz with the street market at night in China Town was just amazing! The live music every night at the RedRose restaurant was great.The musicians were very very good and it just created this cool vibe. This is definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed. I would stay here again if in Bangkok. The staff were fantastic…especially Korn and M!! They were super helpful and attentive, Korn helped organise transportation a couple of times for me. The room was beautiful, the decor and attention to detail!

The size of the room and the bath were massive. I could say this hotel has the best location of China town. Well decorated, I felt like I was in China during our stay. Service were top notch. Fantastic vibe at the bar near the lobby, they had live music and cocktails were delish ;)

Breakfast selections, I found it quite weird but other people might find it unique.

This hotel has a classic style in terms of flair and decoration. I guess it reflects its location in Chinatown and quite well done. When I checked in, I found that my room on the 3rd floor (301) was right next to the restaurant kitchen and the A/C in the room brought in a fair bit of food smell. I mentioned it to the staff and they moved me to a larger room on the 2nd floor without a charge. The staff was very friendly and frequently checked in to make sure I was comfy and happy.

Because the hotel is sort of "open-air" and has lovely ponds with fish in its interior, there are quite a few number of mosquitos present, and in the rooms as well. There is often live music happening in the bar/restaurant at the entrance of the hotel and this gets a bit loud into the night. I also found the prices for beer and drinks to be unusually high for this neighborhood and Bangkok in general.

What a great hotel it was perfect all round a great experience right in the middle of china town. Great rooms nicely decorated and a nicely decorated hotel in general. The staff were great and helped in anyway they could and also free snacks round the hotel aswell. Beds were nice and comfy and really big, plenty of toiletries and nice silk bathrobes. All in all a perfect stay i would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of China town .

Only thing if im being picky is not having the tv in front of the bed and having it in the living but that's just me

The property overall is fantastic, really lives up to the photos. The staff are friendly and helpful almost to a fault, like most people in Thailand! The downstairs bar is great, very atmospheric, especially at night. The room is sizeable and generally well appointed. The shower was good and the towels also.

The floor in the room wasn't very clean; when walking around in bare feet I stood on little loose stones quite often from where it had chipped. The lock on the door of the room also isn't very secure and doesn't inspire confidence. The bed was four-poster and nice to look at, but very impractical to get in and out of without disturbing your partner.

We stayed at the Shanghai Bangkok Mansions at the start and end of our two week holiday in Thailand.  The location was ideal, buzzy Chinatown with lots going on and we felt very safe even late at night. It doesn't come alive until after dark. Great live music each night.  I booked two rooms, mine was lovely and bright but the second room was on the opposite side so was dark. The beds are so comfortable. We asked for two brighter rooms on the return visit which we got.  The first person we met was Korn who helped us take our baggage to our rooms. He was an absolute star on our return journey. We were leaving in the evening following the earthquake in Myanmar with tremors felt across Bangkok. We arrived back at the hotel after being caught up in the commercial area in the afternoon.  He advised us to leave for the airport as early as possible. The city was gridlocked with metros and skytrains suspended and taxis in demand. He kept checking on us but unfortunately our Grab was delayed by 1.5 hours and never arrived. We were going to miss our flight back to the UK. He negotiated with a taxi driver who happened to stop and we are beyond grateful for his actions. It took four hours to get to the airport. Two hours whilst in the taxi.  We made the flight as it was delayed by one hour so please let him know we made it thanks to him!  All the staff are lovely but Korn really does go above and beyond and deserves special recognition. 

The opulence of the fixtures and the styling were outstanding and really made for a luxurious stay! The location in absolutely perfect right in the heart of bustling Chinatown with easy access to the best restaurants in Bangkok, public transport and the main tourist attractions such as the Grand Palace. Breakfast was great value and had a wonderful variety that would suit any taste.

The air conditioning wasn't working on the last day (and took a long time to be fixed) and apparently the mattresses in our friend's standard room were quite hard. Our king suite bedding was extremely comfortable though!

Shanghai Mansion is on Yaowara Road in Chinatown. Most rooms face the interior central atrium so street noise is not a problem although it means the rooms are dark since there are no windows. Breakfast is ample with great coffee, nice juices and a chef making omelettes on demand. We were in a king suite so the room was very large with a sitting room and large tub. The beds were comfortable. Loud music from the ground floor lounge can be an issue although the music was over by 930pm most nights, 11pm one night. The antique wooden door to the room is charming but can let in hallway noise; however, our fellow guests were very quiet so we were fine. Lovely tea and Chinese snacks served Friday and Saturdays mid-afternoon. Chinatown is a 10' taxi drive from the main temples and Royal Palace, and turns into a gigantic street food fest in the evening. This is a real working Chinatown and not a Thai neighborhood so you won't find many cafes and restaurants nearby that serve Thai food or Thai shops.

Hallway noise may be a problem although our neighbors were very quiet. You need to travel farther away to find Thai food and shops.
