Staying at the Maxwell Reserve was like stepping into a beautifully preserved time capsule – one filled with old-world charm, elegance, and rich heritage. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to a different era, where royalty, polo players, and distinguished guests might have once roamed the halls. The interiors are absolutely stunning – full of intricate details, lush furnishings, and historical nods that give the place a unique and regal personality. It’s not just a hotel; it’s an experience. There’s a real sense of story behind the walls, and every corner feels curated and meaningful. The value for money is unbelievable. It felt like 5 star as the add ons of free cocktails, served breakfast, afternoon tea was all inclusive. One highlight for me was learning about the Sikh heritage woven into the property’s identity. The thoughtful inclusion of this cultural history added so much depth to the stay and made it feel even more special and respectful of the past. If you're looking for something beyond the usual modern hotel stay – something rich in character, elegance, and historical layers – I can’t recommend Maxwell Reserve enough. A true hidden gem in the heart of Singapore. A big shout out to the team including Rosie, Annand and Kergo in the bar and Simar on the front door. It's people that make you feel welcome from the time you arrive and will keep us coming back.

Very beautifully furnished, boutique hotel. Great location - 2 minute walk to the Maxwell MRT and Food Centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were upgraded to executive lounge - so had amazing breakfast, afternoon tea and drinks included. Loved the decor - very unique and luxurious. Would definitely stay again. We were worried about the reviews stating the building works next door, but we didn't even notice. There's a soundwall between the building works and the hotel.

Not sure what happened to the pool area. It's like they've forgotten they have a pool. It seemed abandoned. The pool is tiny, but we had expected that, but the chairs etc were just pushed into a corner, no staff. Very strange contrast to the rest of the hotel. The rooms aren't very spacious so it's not easy to have a suitcase open in the room - which is needed because there's no cupboard or drawers to put clothes. Wouldn't stop me from staying again though. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very luxurious and comfortable.

The staff at this hotel were so welcoming and helpful, I have honestly never encountered such a helpful hotel. They checked me inn at 0730 and had me in my room by 1030, well ahead of check in time. They also let me use the showers and pool after I had checked out while I waited to leave before the airport. All the staff were professional and friendly The rooms are delightful, historically decorated and very comfortable. This hotel is like a museum, there is lots of memorabilia on display and some interesting historical information displayed. The location in China town is also great and within a short walk of 3 MRT lines

We liked that breakfast was included and provided a lot if choice. Since it was made to order everything was fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly and professional which made us feel relaxed. Roy in the breakfast restaurant understood our specific requests and took the time to make sure everything was perfect. We liked the unique nature of the decor - it felt very Singapore / Historical and there are several lounges, bars, swimming pool spaces and library that make this hotel seem unhurried and relaxing. The surrounding area is safe and interesting to explore. This hotel made me want to revisit for longer.

Great location, quietness (or sound-proofing), furniture decoration at the entry, main corridor and restaurant, bathroom cleanliness, safe box, staff cheerfulness.

This is being super-extra-picky, in our case we had breakfast included as part of the package, we felt that the amount of food provided for breakfast was a bit excessive - some people might find this to be a positive though. The food was delicious though.

Great old Colonial style decor hotel, great location for easy walk to China Town and MRT to get subway to explore further. Staff/hotel team were all exceptional and attentive. Food, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good.

Room we booked had a balcony on RH side of hotel, unfortunately that is directly opposite a building site and balcony was a no go area, disappointed that we were never told when booking and upon arrival after booking in. We were found an alternative room but without a balcony, suggest if others book they check this firstly.

Bathroom was a good size but a little dated Pool was open and clean, but the pool area could’ve used some care and attention. Loungers/tables were pushed to a corner and pool bar looked unused for a while - could’ve been more welcoming for pool users

Great hotel with gorgeous theme through out in a great location in walking distance to a lot of the major sights. All the reception staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast service could use some improvements. The food was very good, but it took too long to arrive (we had to wait up to an hour for our orders to arrive) and one day I specifically asked for eggs first and pancakes second and it arrived the other way arround. Also pool area could maybe use some greenery or other decor to make it a bit more cozy.

This is very historic property which has been beautifully transformed into a luxury hotel. I stayed in a room that had access to the club lounge, where I was very well looked after by all the staff. The food in the lounge and at breakfast was excellent. Location is very good - minutes away from Maxwell and Tanjong Pagar stations. Lots of food and drink options locally.

Beautiful old heritage building recently refurbished and full of fascinating artefacts. Very quiet and comfortable in my room. Loved the breakfast and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff.

The management need to figure out their eco credentials. Towels were washed every single use, which is a waste of energy and no option to retain them. All lights on in the room all day after cleaning.. and aircon full blast. Glass bottles for juice at breakfast are recycled not washed. Simple things could help make contribution to helping reduce impact on climate.. and finally the chairs in the lobby are a bit style over substance. They are arranged like a kid has been playing buses with the parent’s chairs and you can’t actually sit on them.. so there is nowhere to rest in the lobby area. Which is just odd
