Our room was nice and clean. The people working at the hotel were very nice and very friendly, we felt very welcome! The food for breakfast and dinner was good. The national park is near, good loaction, although the roads are a little bit adaventerous at times. We had a nice stay and would recommend the hotel.

the only negative thing we experienced was one the hotel is not responsible, not at all. There was a big bus tour, that included some rather bad people (low level of respect towards hotel staff and other guests, I was also yelled at...). But this is something that shall not take anything away from the nice stay we had there.

This place is a little piece of heaven on earth. You can see birds all over the property, beautiful nature everywhere you look, the pool is a special treat. Breakfast was fantastic. We ate so well, and having the restaurant in the property was great as the region is quite isolated. The staff were wonderful, so caring and kind. Our room was spacious. The hammock out on the balcony was a pleasant surprise. Overall, excellent!

Be mindful of the road conditions to get to the hotel as it is full of holes, and there is no internet signal, so I'd recommend you download offline maps to ensure you find the place. As an idea, it would be great if, on the way leading up to the hotel, there were more signs to help us find the way.

The room we had had a lovely view across the forest and was wonderfully peaceful. It was quite a distance away from the restaurant and pool etc which was not an issue for us but a 4 wheel drive was needed to drive to the room. Just be careful which room you book! The room itself was well equipped with a large comfortable bed, great walk in shower and a hammock on the balcony. There is a nice pool and some lovely walks from the property. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially at reception.

Breakfast was OK, nothing special, but we suffered from following a large tour group…..

The staff was very accommodating. They were very flexible, kind, and helped us out with whatever we needed. The rooms are spacious, the pool was perfect, the balcony overlooking the forest felt like a dream, and there is an excellent trail on the property that goes to a small waterfall/swimming hole. The property is well manicured and taken care of and was quiet and peaceful while we were there. We had Walter take us through the Santa Maria sector of Rincon, and he was super knowledgeable and chill, I highly recommend him, he's an excellent guy. The lodge is out there, so if you don't have a car make sure to come prepared with cash and whatever else you need, there isn't a store or ATM on site.

I don't have anything bad to say, they were great to us.

Tucked away in the remote forests on the slopes of the volcanoes of Rincon de La Vieja, Rinconcito Lodge is a great place to stay. 40 or so clean and comfortable rooms and cabins set in well-kept gardens teeming with bird life, plus an iguana that lives by the swimming pool. There's an on site restaurant serving a wide range of reasonably priced meals (including five veggie options). We enjoyed two great tours courtesy of guide Walter. The first was a full day hiking from one entrance of the National Park (Las Pailas: fumaroles, waterfalls and boiling mud) through the steep and dense forests to the other entrance (Santa Maria: sulphur pools) with a horse ride back to Rinconcito to finish. The second tour was Rinconcito's private and exhilarating zip line canopy tour, with seven cables through and above the forest. We also loved the trail on Rinconcito's land through the forest to the volcano mirador. The roads to get to Rincon de la Vieja are not well maintained so 4WD is useful. But it's well worth the journey.

Nice pool and surrounding hammocks. Expensive dinner menu. Good breakfast. Most of the staff friendly.

Still a fair bit of building work going on. Did not like the ramp and access routes where they asked guests to park the cars. Roads to and from the hotel have major pot holes and driving is slow. There was no free coffee at reception nor in the rooms, which is unlike most of the Costa Rican places we stayed at. There was a group of school kids staying (possibly as part of a study trip) who were a bit noisy in the evenings. No need to park cars next to bedroom balconies, it spoils the views. Hot water was rarely present.

Beautiful location, exceptional views, great food (dinner separate cost) and buffet breakfast was delicious. We paid a little more for the superior room - Mountain View, 100% worth it. Hammock on the balcony was perfection. We saw toucans and parrots every morning and fell asleep listening to the nature sounds at night. Bed was MASSIVE and so unbelievably comfy! Huge walk in shower.

Everything was wonderful but we would’ve liked a coffee machine / kettle in our room to enjoy a coffee on the balcony when we woke up.

A beautiful, cozy lodge. Lovely grounds! The staff were wonderful, warm and friendly. David is a great manager. Anthony was so kind and helpful. Jose arranged an amazing day adventure for us. Food is good in the restaurant. Nice swimming pool. Beds were a bit on the hard side, but nice linens made it ok. The shower was a bit of a challenge, but it had hot water and we made it work. Our room was at the top of the property, also a challenge but we are in good enough shape to handle it. Ask for a lower room if walking is an issue. That said, Anthony was extremely helpful with our luggage.

Nothing I didn’t like, but I recommend you download the WAZE app to find it.

Breakfast was really great! I also highly recommend getting the option for breakfast included as there are not many food places nearby (really none unless you're willing to drive >20mins). The property is also neat - the pool was kept up well and there was a hiking trail you could catch from their property to waterfalls and a viewpoint which was nice! We had a broken AC unit in the first room we got and were moved to a different room right away! Hammocks on the room patios were a nice touch!

Roads to get here aren't great, but it's inland Costa Rica - this shouldn't be surprising! There also were some ants in the bathroom and on the counter. This location is quite remote, so keep that in mind with your expectations! We had a minor power outage (literally the entire resort) lost power for about 10mins one night when we were there.

I am unsure why this lodge has a 2-star rating on Booking; it should have at least 4 stars. Here's why: 1. The location: It is spectacular; you don't see anything else but mountains and hills surrounding this lodge. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is in its backyard, providing several activities to do either independently or with a tour guide. We opted for guided tours offered by the Rinconcito Lodge (note that not all tour guides speak English). We took the horseback ride tour, starting at the Rinconcito. We rode for 45 minutes to the Santa Maria Rangers Station (entrance fee not included in the tour price). After leaving the horses at the Ranger station, we walked to the hot springs, the Morpho Waterfall, and the enchanted forest. I also highly recommend the canopy/zipline tour; we did 7 lines of canopy, and the views from the largest lines were breathtaking. The entire experience was amazing! 2. The room: The bed was comfortable, and the room (we had the mountain view room) was exactly as described in the Booking listing, with a mini fridge and AC which we did not need to use because the temp in that room was perfect. There were no surprises, except for the fact that we were amazed by how beautiful the room and the views were in real life. Waking up every morning to the sounds of colibris and other birds was simply amazing! 3. Public areas: All public areas are well-maintained and clean. We spent hours in the hammocks by the pool, and the pool itself was clean and well-kept. We absolutely loved it. 4. The restaurant: It was fantastic, albeit a bit pricey. The food was well worth it! Breakfast was included so that was a huge plus. Their drinks and desserts were fantastic too. We had the best food in Costa Rica at the Rinconcito Lodge. 5. The staff: They truly have a fantastic staff who care about their guests having a great time. We felt so welcomed, as if we were family :)

One downside is that they didn't have enough vegetarian/vegan options on their menu. It would be great if they offered, no-cow milk (oat, soy, almond) for breakfast, and more vegetable dishes. I also wish they offered complimentary coffee, coffee was not free.
