The owner, George, is a wonderful friendly and helpful man. He was communicative throughout our stay, and on the morning of our departure was there early to make us breakfast and take us up to the ferry. The location is wonderful. The breakfast is made by Vera, who is a total delight. So friendly, happy and making us feel welcome and at home. She cleans the room too. Now let me address why I am giving a 10 and there are others who give below 5 - simple… this is a basic and friendly Greek place to stay. No frills no fuss. Just a great place with genuine people. If you want 5* go elsewhere - I’ve done that around the world and I could have been anywhere. Greek hospitality and good value and a genuinely nice man in George, going with the flow and experiencing a genuine local stay - this is it. Don’t stay if you want the Hilton. Stay if you want a family feel.

Pythagoreio was, in my opinion, the best place in Simos. This hotel is in one of the most beautiful locations, right next to the ferry terminal. It has a beautiful sea right in front of it, with free sunbeds. Because the sea was pebbly, we had to walk to a nearby cove with a sandy beach. Our room was spotless, and the sea view from our balcony was magnificent. We planned to walk around in the evenings and eat elsewhere, but the food and live music at the hotel restaurant captivated us so much that we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. I'll always remember the days of dancing and having fun with their delightful songs with a smile. I've visited about 15 countries and countless cities, but Samos and the wonderful people of this hotel will always be in my heart. Thank you for everything. :)

The Tarsanas Hotel is ideally located in the beach hotel. The hotel has its own restaurant serving traditional Greek cuisine. The rooms are larger than the regional standard, the room had a kitchenette with a large fridge with freezer compartment. The breakfast is rich and plentiful, with fresh fruit for breakfast. From the restaurant terrace it is only a few steps to the sea. Guests of the restaurant receive a sunbeds free of charge. The beds are comfortable and the location is quiet, you sleep very well to the sound of the sea. The rooms have a balcony, on the sea side you can see the island of Agathonisi and Karavopetra.

The location was excellent. Right on a little beach with free sunbeds if you were staying at the Taverna.. The food was really good, typical home cooked Greek cuisine.. For the price of the room, the breakfast was much better than we had expected, eggs, toast, yoghurt with honey, meat and cheese etc, tea, coffee and fruit juice. Our room was simple, a little bit outdated, and the bathrooms need modernising, but it was a good size with a lovely view from the balcony . All the staff were really friendly and the live music 3/4 nights a week were great.

Don't let first impressions put you off, this is not a hotel with reception and bar etc.. It is a very old traditional building with character, which does have the appearance of being run down, but if, like us, you want a simple Greek experience with amazing hospitality, then Tarsanas is the place for you. Ps. if you are allergic to cats, this is not for you.

This traditional hotel is located on the sunny south coast, on the beach, with no road between the building and sea. It is extremely convenient for the Pythagorian ferry. We received a wonderfully warm welcome, were well looked after and our room had everything we required for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was sufficient to our needs, included delicious yoghurt and honey, and being serenaded with live classical guitar. Both the building and its owner could be described as a touch idiosyncratic, but in a very pleasant way.

I'm not a great fan of the plastic shower curtain, but in this case it worked quite well and I managed to shower without flooding the floor.

The town of Pythagorio is incredibly beautiful, small and cozy located on a steep hill with a very cozy harbor. The hotel Tasana is located at the very end of the harbor boulevard and is really worth a visit. Typical Greek atmosphere, especially because of the nice staff and the special owner, a very nice man. The terrace is located from the sea, you can take a nice dip tomorrow or relax on the sunbeds. Enjoyed the delicious dishes that differ every day depending on the chef's inspiration.

The fact that we totally relaxed throughout the 7 days, we felt welcome both by the owner of the Tarsanas hotel and by the residents of the beautiful city of Pytagorio. I really appreciate and am grateful for the facilities included in the price: breakfast on the terrace by the sea, fast wifi, deck chair on the beach, as well as for the personalized services received. I got exactly what I was looking for: unpretentious atmosphere, naturalness and uniqueness at a reasonable price. Hotel Tarsanas is a healthy stone house with wooden balconies and a sea view, surrounded by beautiful climbing flowers, a house with a unique personality and history of the owner George's family. The hotel is located right next to the sea, close to the harbor at 1 minute, from the heart of the city at 2-3 minutes and from the house of the cute street cats of Pytagorio just 1/2 minute. The atmosphere of tolerance, acceptance, enthusiasm and self-respect created by the cultured George, his friendly staff and the wonderful Vera left us with some of the most beautiful feelings of all the countries we visited. Finally, the summary of our impressions is a saying from the elders: it is said that "man sanctifies the place", which is absolutely concretized in the description of the Tarsanas hotel. If Samos is a natural diamond, then the hotel is a real pearl that deserves all the admiration and respect

Hotel Tarsanas was an incredible place to stay for the five days I was on Samos. The accommodations are not “fancy,”  however, they provide everything that you need. I definitely recommend a room with a view, because it was breathtaking! The staff was so nice. The cooks and wait staff were very accommodating, especially the lady that serves breakfast in the morning and also takes care of your rooms The owner, George, was very hospitable and really helpful when answering all of my questions. I can’t say enough about the food! Some of the best I’ve had while on vacation!!! I wanted a place that had breakfast included, but I was only able to eat breakfast one time because I was so stuffed from dinner the night before. I made a point of going down the last morning of my stay to sample it, and I was not disappointed!  Location is perfect. It’s a short walk from all of the other restaurants/bars and tourist shops. Ferries are also a short walk away, which makes it convenient for a ferry ride to Turkey or another island. I highly recommend Hotel Tarsanas  for anybody’s stay on the island of Samos!!!

I could not figure out how to work the TV, but I didn’t ask for any help. It actually turned out to be OK, because I read quite a bit sitting on the balcony.

All of the good things said about hotel Tarsanas are absolutely true. We chose Tarsanas because of the legendary hospitality of the owner and that there were lots of cats. George was very kind to us, he is learning some classical guitar pieces and there were several nights we just sat with him, had some snacks, and he played for us. We had an awesome time!! The location is unbeatable. We fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean every night. The room was large, private, and pretty comfortable. We had a fridge and could store some fruit, meat, and cheese for travel lunches.

There are a few things, but we were aware of these before and booked regardless because, for the overall value, it didn’t matter much to us. We decided not to use the hob in the kitchenette because it looked like it might not work well. The kitchenette could stand to have a few more dishes to accommodate at least two. The toilet had a leak. The bed was a bit uncomfortable after two weeks. Nothing big, though.

The location is amazing. Just a few steps from the beach, the harbour and the city center. The hosts are exceptional and super friendly. The view from the balcony is fantastic. The place is genuine Greek and very charming.

The bed was a bit hard and the bathroom needs some renovation.
