The service of offering a discount for parking was a great surprise. The cleaning staff were very accommodating. The local was the best - we could walk, or train, or tram or drive. And we used all of these modes. We didn't do breakfast in the hotel (nor for dinner ) as the restaurant had an "average" review. As there were so many other choices it really didn't matter to us. The room was adequate given we were out most days.

As we stayed for approx 10 days a slightly bigger room would have been good but it didn't mean we didn't like the place.

- Extremely convenient location. Literally opposite the JR train station (both local and shinkansen/bullet train) gate entrance. Door to platform around 5mins. - Lots of food options around. Two convenient stores within half a minute walk. Big shopping centres next door and opposite the road. Five minutes walk to tram and bus stops which takes you to most parts of Kagoshima. - Staff efficient, never had to wait to be served. They are able to communite with English fairly well. - Lots of free toilet amenities available in the lobby (free for guests); apart from the usual stuff (toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, toner, cream, shower cap, cotton buds, razors etc), they also have shaving gel which is not that common. Very thoughtful. Bath salt available. - Spacious room in Japanese standard. The bathroom is very nice. The showering cubicle and bathtub were comfortable. - TV with youtube and netflix function was nice. - We didn't use it but people can keep their luggage in individual lockers at the lobby. - Beds, pillows were comfortable. - Daily refilled complimentary bottled water. - Nice to have a late check out time of 11am.

- There was some emergency road work when we stayed and the noise lasted till after midnight. Not the hotel's fault though. - Room keeping staff probably didn't understand the English note we left behind, they made up our beds despite us asking them not to. Didn't bother us too much however. They have also mistaken our own slippers for their complimentary ones and disposed of them. - Would be best if there were more bathrooms in the lobby.

We loved everything about JR Kyushu Kagoshima hotel. OK, the hotel itself is getting a bit old but cleanliness can't be beat (we brushed our fingers over the furniture and there was no dust), the bed was comfy, the room was so spacious (we booked a deluxe twin room), the location is exceptional (particularly after a tiring day travelling with luggage), the staff speak English (when you're too tired to even think about speaking Japanese), the self-service lockers, laundry etc. Shops and restaurants right downstairs. I could go on. It is easily the best hotel overall of our 1 month trip around Kyushu. We will be back to Kyushu and also to JR Kyushu Kagoshima hotel. Thank you for a most comfortable stay!!!

Maybe if I'm being picky, perhaps the hotel could regularly replace the towels and yukata provided in the room as they are worn. Could be a cheap way to improve the experience for the guests.

The hotel is right next to the station which makes it easy to get to even when it was raining. Even though there was no breakfast, there are plenty of options around the area for food! I really enjoyed the amenities, especially the bath salts that were provided. I had a good soak for both nights I was staying and it was relaxing after a long day of walking and exploring. The room is spacious and allows me to open my luggage without any problem. I appreciated the microwave oven for me to heat up food conveniently even though it was late at night.

Very good value. Nice, clean and modern interior. Location can’t be better. It’s literally in the JR station. Very high tech too. The luggage storage uses a card system which doesn’t require any attention from the staff when you come back to pick up your luggage.

Nothing I can think of. Maybe a bit more space but I’m happy with the size which is way better than some small hotel rooms in Tokyo.

Clean, quiet, comfortable, close to trains, close to shops, polite staff.

I found the layout confusing - north & south ends no being connected. It would be good to have the food/restaurant situation clearer. My Japanese language is not good (first time in Japan) (my fault for not learning more) so I found it very difficult to know where to go, how to book breakfast beforehand. The staff did not ask if I wanted breakfast. None of the staff spoke any English and the signage was not clear. I know U shouldn’t expect English to be automatically accommodated, but it’s very common elsewhere and just a few clear signs in English would benefit the hotel as I would’ve used its facilities more. Once I found the restaurant & the staff allowed me in, it was really good, thanks.

The location is very convenient, it is located inside the JR station so you don't have to go far and just need to follow some signs. That said while it could be crowded in the station, the hotel has a relatively big and comfortable lobby inside. Food is plenty to find nearby and there is souvenir shop inside the station as well. The room is clean and modern. It's not what I will call spacious but the space and stuff they provide inside the room is adequate. The staff is also very helpful and understands english to a good degree when i asked for help to unlock my laundry from the machine. They also let me leave my luggage for awhile as I explore the city after I check out. Overall I'm very satisfied, really reccommends this hotel and hopefully I can go to Kagoshima again in the near future :)

The hotel only have one coin laundry machine and one drying machine (separately) when I did my stay, which while on a low season is fine, but having more laundry machine would be great shall the demand for rooms arise in the future.

The hotel is connected to JR station and it's super convenient with few shopping centers in walking distance. The room is very spacious ( compare to traditional hotel in Japan), we still find the room spacious with two big luggage open up in the room. There is washing machine and drying machine where we can wash our clothing from hiking. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they tried to accommodate our special request. There are many local restaurants near the hotel and we feel home when stayed here. Will definitely stay here when I visit again.

The hotel has a direct connection and entrance to the station (in consequence with the shopping mall) which is very good, close to everything! Also, the staff was very helpful with out luggage (storing it before the check in and helping sending it to the next hotel). The room is spatious, the bathroom is also big, and the breafast is very good

The location is still the corner of train station and Shinkansen which is quite convenient for travelers. Room is spacious at least compared to other hotel I used to stay. Breakfast is also good for wide variety of selection with nice tea. It is worth a revisit once I have the opportunity to travel in kagoshima
