We loved our stay at La Prometida. In a month of travelling it was our favourite hotel. So many highlights. The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. They gave us great information about the area, what to do and recommended some excellent local restaurants. The property is an oasis of calm and everywhere is beautifully appointed and decorated. The breakfasts were delicious, preceded by a pot of fabulous coffee left outside your room to enjoy whilst waking up. We enjoyed the occassional hour or two at the pool with a cocktail and snacks. If I'm ever back in this area I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Javier, Selva and Sol were wonderful hosts! we stayed in Cottage 1, which has a brilliant outdoor space. I was concerned about being by a black beach as wanted to stay on a golden sand beach ( Punta Uva) however, Playa Negra is excellent as it is close, quiet and one can swim in the sea without the riptides experienced on Playa Cocles (although a great beach and only a short drive). Puerto Viejo has got some fab restaurants, including Koki beach restaurant. All just 10 mins by car. The surf school is well worth a visit, as is the Jaguar Centre, close by. The breakfasts at La Prometida were great and delivered to our cottage on our specified time. We had all the privacy of our own space but with the convenience of a hotel; breakfast, cleaning, advice where needed. I had booked La Prometida back in Jan/ Feb and the wait was definitely worth it. To the owners: we are sorry we missed you but rest assured we were well taken care of. Thank you!!

We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at Cottage. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel very welcome. We loved the spacious sunroom, well-equipped kitchen, and the convenient parking spot. The morning coffee delivered to our room was such a nice touch — so good! Breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. The location is also very convenient for exploring the area. The only downside was encountering a few unpleasant insects in the bedroom and kitchen, but otherwise, it was a great stay!

The rooms were private individual buildings nestled into the greenery. They had great decks with fans where you could sit privately listening to and watching the birds. The rooms were clean and in good shape. The main area where the pool was a great place to relax, swim and watch the birds and an iguana that seemed to live in one of the trees. The staff (Selva and Flora) were great and always willing to provide recommendations for activities, tuk tuk drivers, and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent with fresh juice and fruit every morning.

The location is a little from town and restaurants, but an easy walk to the beach. Walking at night to town wasn't feasible (it was very dark). There was a nearby resort that had a restaurant which was decent and was walkable. The tuk tuk ride was 4,000 colones each way, so added up. Even with the above, though, I'd stay there again because it was so secluded and relaxing.

True gem, close to the beach. Rooms beautoful, well kept with attention to every single detail: it has been well thought out. And to us this how we like to spend a night in a hotel. Breakfast: wow, it’s all fresh made. They make sure you eat and drink enough. 😀 Fran and Andy know what hospitality is. Thanks so much! We only stayed 2 nights, which we regretted. We wanted to stay longer but La Prometida was fully booked. (Dont’t make the same mistake: yes! Book that extra night)

For your first time in Costa Rica, this is the perfect place. In addition to exquisite design, you will be warmed here with incredible care. The hotel staff will advise you on how to spend your time and the best places in the area. All recommendations were 100/100. In the middle of the vacation, the massage in the room came in very handy. The breakfasts are delicious. The hotel is family-run and small, so everything is done with great love.

I conveyed a request to the staff to warn guests about repair work a little in advance so that they can plan their time. I had half a day to work and if I had known, I would have chosen some other quiet place on the beach for this time, rather than sitting listening to the sound of a drill in my room. My husband left at this time and I had no opportunity to change location

Very beautiful, comfy and I’m very good shape. The location ist great. Just 20 min walk at the beach or 5 min by car from the town. Directly at the beach, very quiet but with a restaurant, bar & supermarket next door.

There was everything you need for a good holiday, just perfect! And the little bungalow was very beautiful. We loved the terrace for the morning coffee ( they bring you every morning coffee or tea 😍) the bed was very comfortable and we just felt so safe and relaxed.

We stayed at La Prometida in Puerto Viejo for three wonderful nights last week. We were absolutely impressed by both the accommodation and the hospitality of Selva. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail: from the fresh coffee delivered to our door every morning (complete with adorable heart-shaped chocolates on Valentine's Day - a lovely touch!), to the stunning Ibiza-style interior of the villas themselves. This stay will definitely remain one of the highlights of our 15-day holiday. In short, a true paradise tucked away in a quiet side street of the breathtaking Playa Negra. An absolute must!

Breakfast was colorful and delicious. The bathroom was spacious and clean. Also the French press coffee at our door before 7am was an useful idea. Selva was really helpful with tips about the area (restaurants)

Answers were given a bit late. They offered coffee in the morning at our room (great idea) but forgot the "splenda" and once I asked for it...they never answered back so I had to go directly to the lobby after waiting for more than 1 hour.

My boyfriend and I stayed a few days at La Prometida and we loved it! We had the pleasure to meet the owners who are a super welcoming and hardworking couple. The hotel’s manager, Selva, gave us amazing food recommendations as well as outdoor activities which we really enjoyed. The hotel’s design and service were outstanding. We also loved the breakfast. We look forward to come back soon!
