It was so good to be back 8 months after our wedding and we were surprised not only did person working on reception there remember us but all about Emma's mum, where do I start this is beautiful venue and always so special to us. We had a lovely meal in the evening 10/10 food compliment to chefs and top serveice by waitresses. We stayed in one of higher prices room as we upgraded at discounted prices (offer as we got married there.) but it was worth every penny although even lower price rooms are also stunning at this venue, however I love a bath. This may be negative for some people but wasn't for us as it was nice that there was wedding (can't Access gardens and chapel, so we did next day instead.) but it was lovely too see a wedding on and me and my wife had little dance on our balcony listening to music and before hands we were listening to speeches very emotional in a good way. I could rave on and on and on about this venue. I would recommend it not only as a hotel but also a beautiful wedding venue and I have no doubts we will return in the future!

Myself and my husband had an amazing trip here for our 10 year anniversary. When we arrived it didn’t look how we imagined. It was truly deceptive on approaching. We were checked in by the lovely Annie on reception. She was so warm and friendly and we were told where to go and how to get around. Not long after check in, we went down for our pre-booked evening meal. I recommend prebooking before arriving at the hotel, as they do get busy. The very nice Chloe came over to serve us. She asked if we’re just having a get away or there for a special occasion. When we told her it was for our 10 year anniversary, she came back with two glasses of Prosecco on the house. Such a nice touch. We ordered our food, and it didn’t take long to arrive at all. It was the most incredible vegan charcuterie board I’ve ever had. Everything tasted incredible. After the meal, we took our drinks outside to the beautiful gardens and enjoyed the seats by the fire pit. Our room was warm and cosy with a fab array of high quality drink and snack items. We had a very comfortable night sleep, which we don’t always when we stay in hotels. On check in, we had booked a breakfast time slot, which we were early for in the morning, but they were more than happy to seat us. Ian, who served us was really friendly (he had been there the night before to box up some of my meal, as I couldn’t quite get through it all). The breakfast was really high quality and a great way to start the day. We really didn’t want to leave. Myself and my husband are already planning a return trip. Thanks to all the staff that made it a great stay. We had been shown around the wedding area (just out of sheer curiosity as we are already married). It was stunning. I now need to find a friend to talk into getting hitched here!!!

Fantastic location, lovely room and balcony, beautiful bath and shower, very relaxing The restaurant was great, nice and relaxing and quite casual, great atmosphere, food was great and reasonably priced The outside space was lovely, ample seating with small fire pits and lovely to sit out on a night Overall a great stay and will return, I made sure to ring in advance and make sure there were no weddings on as it’s not the largest hotel and I can imagine it gets very noisy and busy when there’s an event on

Staff were mixed, the management staff were absolutely fantastic, very approachable and went the extra mile Bar/restaurant staff were mixed, some great, some aloof, everyone was nice and certainly didn’t ruin the experience

Nice rooms with good matrasses (unlike most pubs where we slept), very nice location and good food (breakfast and dinner) with a nice (though small) selection of beers to taste.

The heating turned on full blast somewhere during dinner, it seemed like one of the valves had broken and was permanently opened. When returning the room was boiling hot, after which we returned to the lobby. After shutting down the central heater for the building the temperature (luckily) quickly dropped and the night was pleasant.

Our room was fantastic. Huge! The decor was very impressive, classy, super clean, ornate. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The breakfast menu is first class. The location was perfect for us on this trip. There was no wedding party happening during our stay, thankfully.

I wish I had asked how to adjust the heating in the bedroom. It was very hot. I am sure staff would have been very helpful. I would not want to be an independent guest if a wedding was happening at the venue, I would feel like an intruder. I am not sure if the Hotel would inform you of this.

We did not expect the warmth of the genuine friendly greeting and attitude of the staff throughout our stay. Sue just happened to mention the little fact that we were celebrating our 54th wedding anniversary (mortifying me, I wanted to keep quiet!!) Bottle of Fizz appeared in the room, complimentary glasses arrived at our table....WOW! The general manager stopped to chat and gave us a private tour of the magnificent garden and wild flower water meadow. This venue specialises in weddings etc. I cannot think of a better place. Breakfasts are good and varied, all are catered for on the extensive menu. Creative interiors, hand painted furniture in the classic French Imperial style. Over the top decadence in spades. Theatrical in the extreme. An experience not to be missed. We enjoyed it all immensely !!

Very unique and quirky. Absolutely beautiful gardens & grounds. Excellent quality food in the bar/ lounge area with friendly staff. Nice atmosphere in the whole place and nice selection of cocktails in the bar. Good quality bedding and nice touches in the bedroom, with complimentary chocolate, filter coffee, luxury toiletries and soft bath robes to use. Tasty breakfast and nothing too much trouble for the staff.

After booking we received an e mail telling us due to a private function. We would have no access to the outside grounds, gardens or inside lounge area on the day of check in. Also there could be excess noise until midnight. We could use the bar area for food & drinks. Access to the grounds & gardens would be available from the following morning.

Well where do I start, we are getting married here in Decemeber and staying here again for taster evening has 100% confirmed we picked the perfect wedding venue, food is exceptional, very clean and classy. The staff are credit to your company every single member, nothing waa too much. When a hotel gets new manager you do always wonder what going be like but got say new manager fanastic to see him getting stuck in with his staff and very welcoming, also great to meet master of ceremony tiny tim always good too meet a fellow welsh man and lovely to meet our wedding co-ordinator Alisha. All so professional. We fell in love all over again with the venue. Last time we stayed in room 12, this time we stayed in room 10 and what a beautiful room yet again. Taster evening just wow I don't have the words.

Going home.... wish we could stay longer, leaving this review and we only half way home!

This hotel is a hidden gem and a must if you are celebrating something special. We took our teenage granddaughter from Canada with us, who was blown away like we were. The gardens stunning likewise the lovely wild flower meadow and stream. We arrive when there was an open wedding day event, the hotel was a buzz with brides to be, tables laid as they would if an event was taking place, it was certainly a way of show casing the gorgeous facilities. Our room was just like a picture in a lifestyle magazine, two huge wooden Indian doors lead into the bathroom with one enormous bath, pure bliss. Dinner took a while, we were in no hurry therefore just enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. We all slept extremely well and woke to a beautiful cooked breakfast. We want to thank the team, all aspects of our stay were exceeded. We will be back that's for sure.

We stayed to have a drink after dinner in the restaurant area at the end of he bar, as all other areas were closed. We did feel that it lacked the character with only two high wooden tables and four high stall around each one. This is not a negative just an observation since the rest of the property was so well presented.

The setting gardens etc are beautiful. The inside of property has stunning and tired areas- the the rooms design & quirkiness is very appealing however it is in need of some tlc and upgrades - the ambient lighting is cosy but rooms need the option of something brighter for more personal needs like make up

Room 21 - Very tired - broken window wouldn’t stay open , broken bed base head sunk when laying down - not clean enough window sills were covered in cobwebs etc - NO HOT WATER for entire stay and no apology offered. Public areas - The management did not have sufficient staff on duty for number of guests they knew would be there. Staff obviously felt under pressure showing in their customer service attitude. Breakfast had no white bread only 1 kind available had to purchase lattes/ flat whites etc separately to avoid ‘office coffee’ which again for the cost and status hotel aims to be is not good.
