The staff was very welcoming and accommodating of our needs: we were late to check-in and they made sure to ask if we wanted to eat at the pub. The room is spacious and luminous with plenty of sockets, an adequate armoire and armchairs and a side table. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure in the shower is good. Breakfast was grand, with good choices, from a very generous fry up to an abundant porridge. The last day we had to leave early and they packed us a breakfast roll with a coffee! We also dined thrice in the pub, there is a good choice, food is good, portions are big and the price is very nice. There is also a good choice of beers and a fantastic cider.

The bed is a queen with a somewhat soft mattress, as we are used to a bigger and firmer bed it was a bit small. We still slept fairly well.

On arrival the staff member who met us was friendly and helpful. The room was first rate; clean, tidy and welcoming. Dinner exceeded our expectations - we both had the lamb stew - which proved to be exactly what we wanted after a few days of restaurant dining in Edinburgh. A delicious breakfast was served by an equally friendly and cheerful member of staff. The Gun was a brilliant place to stay and provided the ideal place to rest and recuperate before heading back to Cornwall.

Some of the fixtures and fittings were starting to show signs of wear, but these did not detract from the most enjoyable, welcoming and friendly experience overall.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They couldn’t do enough and even arranged taxi to the nearby village where we were going for the wedding . They also allowed early check in so we could leave our bags and get ready in time. Communication on the day and before arrival was good and efficient. Rooms were clean and bed with firm mattress, very comfortable. Decent shower, coffee/ tea a biscuit in the room with a kettle is always welcome touch .Plenty of fried breakfast variety, just what’s need it after a day/ night of party . Also cereal variety . Beautiful view from dining area. The pleasant enjoyable experience at The Gun just added to our beautiful day spent at the wedding.

One of rooms was overlooking the main road so it got busy and noisy early in the morning. That could not be helped. We should have closed the window. I had ear plugs so did not bother me . Would still return to stay again .

The perfect little village Inn with a woodburner in the corner and a great view from the Dinner / Breakfast room. Part volunteer run as a community enterprise, a lot of work has gone in recently to completely modernise and make this a top stop over if you are heading N or S. Loads of nice little touches and a simple menu with good hearty country food at reasonable prices. Dont often leave reviews but this Country Inn / Pub was exactly what were looking for as we searched on the move. It also has a good outside seating are for a sunny days.

Lovely clean and modern rooms, friendly staff and lovely food and drinks all at a very reasonable price! Gorgeous breakfast with a stunning view of Northumberland, what a lovely little place and I highly recommend to anyone looking for reasonably priced accommodation!

Only thing was the front door lock is a little ‘dodgy’ and this was indicated to us upon check-in by the staff. I’d suggest repairing the door lock instead of advising guests to take a photo of the emergency numbers if the key doesn’t work. We were fortunate enough to check it before we left for the evening but it did make us a little anxious!

This is one of the friendliest places I have stayed. All the staff were as accommodating as they could be. The room I had was modern and in faultless decoratiove condition. Everything was clean and fresh. The breakfast was freshly cooked and faultless and also hearty. The evening menu was unpretentious and as a result perfectly cooked. (Having said 'unpretentious' for desert they came up with a homemade strawberry cheesecake that would not have been out of place at a restaurant charging three times as much.)

We loved seeing the framed pictures tell the story about how the community brought this place (back) to life. The room was very comfy, the breakfast was delicious and we loved the location. The location is perfect for stargazing - if you're lucky enough to get clear skies, unlike us - because it's on the corner of a road that just goes on and on through fields. Walk away a bit from the road and the houses and it's perfect for stargazing.

It would have been nice to get a heads-up from the staff to say we would be the only ones staying over that night. They have four rooms and appropriate signage asking guests to be quiet and considerate of other travellers. I inched up and down the creaky stairs when going out to smoke but then realized the next day I did it for no reason, as there wasn't anyone else staying overnight.

Our friends were getting married nearby so we stayed here the night before. The staff were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. It was actually during Storm Darragh and the staff blocked us rooms for the next night in case we had nowhere to stay due to local power cuts. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We had the best nights sleep with no traffic or noise. The full english breakfast was lovely in the morning with tea, coffee and juice. The night before we had a few drinks in the bar, played pool, darts and chilled out.

Breakfast and evening meals were excellent with great caring service. Staff were lovely and proud of their place. Quite rightly. Community pub saved from the hands of developers. Made for the best experience. Unfortunately a car problem meant I couldn’t do what I wanted to in the area but staff were really sympathetic and helpful

Absolutely nothing

Location is a bit out in the sticks but that doesn't bother us as we have a car. Great for walkers. Staff were lovely and I like how the property has been brought back to life by the community. Excellent value for money. The food was good - nothing to fancy but good choices.

It is adjacent to a busyish road but that didn't bother us really.
