The place is fantastic. Everything is clean, tidy and well designed. Everyone from the staff was super kind. They really make you feel welcome. The reserve is quite large and it has plenty of animals. We saw elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, hippos, pangolins, cheetahs, warthogs and all sorts of antelopes. It was fantastic. Special mention to Rico (guide) and Mdu (tracker). They were both extremely knowledgeable, kind, engaging and fun! They went the extra mile ensuring we saw everything we wanted to see. They made sure we always got a good view of the animals and that we were comfortable. They answered all our questions and kept us involved in the decision making of that to do next. 10/10.

Just 2 minor things, not impacting the 10/10 score. 1) Some drinks were included some others weren't, but we didn't find out until checking out. The drinks during the drives were included the ones during meals were not. Just a surprise bill at the end. Prices were reasonable anyway, we were just not fully informed of how it worked and caught us by surprise. 2).There is a little gap between their internal rules (checkout at 11am) and what is posted on booking (checkout at 12am).

The security at the main estate entrance was very rude. Made us get off the car, walk to his office in the heat to fill in the entrance permit which took less than a minute to fill, this could literally have been done in the car. Upon his call to the lodge he says our names are not on the guest list. He almost ruined this beautiful experience.

The lodge accommodation was excellent, allowing great contact with nature. The staff was very friendly and efficient and lodge facilities very well decorated and comfortable. The safari games were amazing, with a special thanks to the field guide Jika and tracker Caswell - who made all possible for us to see all the Big 5 and beyond. It was an awesome time in family that will be locked in our hearts forever. We strongly recommend Moditlo Lodge and ask for field guide Jika and tracker Caswell - they made a big difference in our safari games!!!

All of the meals were delicious and fresh. The staff was amazing and helpful. The accommodations were comfortable and spacious. Also, each safari provided us with great views of the animals.

Everything was great I enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again. My room was comfortable, and the food was delicious. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

The location is great because it’s close to the airport, but it’s also close to the railway so you hear the goods train all the time. The rooms are very clean and spacious. We saw 4 of the bug 5. We met wonderful guests. Rico our guide and Mdu the tracker were amazing. Donald who accompanied us to our rooms when it was dark was also great, together with all the staff. We loved seeing the lioness with her cubs on our last day, thanks to Rico who would not give up on trying to find them. Seeing the herd of elephants was breath taking. The boma dinners were great (buffet style).

I wish there was more variety of food (during the game drives and during lunch). The gym is very outdated and most of the equipment did not work. The train. The wifi was too slow.

Our stay at Moditlo far surpassed our expectations in all aspects of the experience. Beautiful and tranquil luxury lodge with a friendly vibe from attentive, courteous and accommodating staff. Excellent food in Boma fireside setting as well as outdoor dining area. Lovely, ultra-comfortable accommodation with frequent visits from gentle nyala rummaging in the grass and entertaining monkeys. Game drives were expertly guided by Jika and his tracker, Caswell. We saw the Big 5 within the first 2 drives! Enjoyed lounging, relaxing and cooling off by the spacious pool between drives. Not a single complaint about our stay at Moditlo.

The lodge is close to a rail line so you can hear the trains go past often which takes away from the bush experience. Unfortunately you are reliant on other farm owners to allow access to their property when going on game drives which can restrict the area you’re allowed to view, but game is still moving freely

Love the location, the rooms were amazing, game drives were out of the world. Seeing so much in the short time that we were there. The staff was really amazing. I could not say anything bad about Moditlo! Want to go back!

All meals, not just breakfast, were delicious! Game drives. It's clear the rangers and trackers have deep experience in doing what they do, tens of years. It's what made our game drives so successful. The waitstaff - always attentive, mixing my drinks the wayni like them every time. The management - i accidentally left half of my wardrobe in my closet when I departed for Hoedspruit Airport, and the manager himself accompanied by one of the tremendous game rangers unexpectedly surprised me at the airport and showed me what i had left behind. I am forever grateful!

One day, i had a MINOR issue with the electricity and water pressure, both of which were likely related to load shedding. They were minor in nature and were fixed within the hour. I mention this not because it was any major issue but because i do my best to be unbiased and answer all questions completely.
