Friendly and welcoming staff. Portia was very helpful in offering guidance on the best viewpoints along the Panoramic Route. The Sunbird chalet was very nice as a family unit, spacious and well equipped with internet (not fast), a battery & inverter power backup (no load shedding), private splash pool, outside shower, braai / barbeque facilities and full kitchen amenities to enable self-catering.

There was absolutely no cell phone signal, and we even lost GPS signal as we got closer to the lodge. While this isn't the lodge's fault, it would be helpful if they informed guests about this in advance. Driving a low-sedan was challenging, and my car took a beating from the humps inside the lodge. A bakkie or SUV would have been more suitable for the terrain. The white mosquito net around the main bed in the Sunbird chalet could use a wash. The chalet has a TV with a Xiaomi TV box, but no access to DSTV. The Xiaomi TV box allows guests to log in with their own Netflix accounts. It would be great if the lodge could offer some DSTV channels on-demand for added convenience.

The main lodge is beautiful with a lovely swimming pool set in extensive gardens where zebra wander through regularly. We stayed in Sunbird, a cottage about 500 metres from the main lodge which shared space with two other smaller cottages. Sunbird is spacious and well equipped but we ate at the main lodge where breakfast is served and a set menu evening meal.

The state of the road from the gate to the main lodge and from the main lodge to the cottage - it is tricky negotiating this in a normal hire car. The cottage is set close to the boundary with the main road and suffers from road noise which starts early in the morning. We were fortunate that there were no guests in the smaller cottages as it would impact on privacy if there had been. We had some difficulties with staff not understanding our requirements resulting in confusion over food and drink orders.

The location of the lodge in the green is great. The room size is enough for 2 people. 2 of the 3 staff we met were really nice, helpful and friendly. Both the breakfast, which was included in the price of the night, and the dinner, which had to be paid for additionally, were great. Sufficient and tasty.

With one employee I had the feeling that we were only tolerated and that she had no desire to work. There were a few unattractive corners that looked unkempt and unclean, e.g. the lookout point. The zebras that could be seen in the pictures seemed strangely apathetic. The lodge is a little far away from the panorama route for the drive.

Rooms are comfortable and spacious, with modern bathrooms and airconditioning. Very handy that there was a spacious mosquito net around the bed already. Food was also very nice, lot's of choices for breakfast and varying menu for diner. Service was friendly and always ready to help. The gardens of the lodge are beautiful, a green oasis in the savannah. We stayed for 2 nights and visited the Maholoholo Animal Rehabilitation center and took a boat tour on the Blyde River - can highly recommend those if you're in the area, unforgettable experiences.

Absolutely wonderful. Fortunate (Manager at Checking in) was amazing we had a late booking and she made sure we were okay and gave sound advise on our plans for the next day, she ensured we were comfortable with our room. The unit exceeded our expectations, cozy , clean, very comfortable beds.

That we only stayed one night

It was amazing – zebras on the property, a nice pool in our little private village, and a fun place for young people to enjoy drinks and have a BBQ. We had a few issues because someone joined us at the last minute, but the crew gave us a fair price for the change.

Everything was good!

The consideration. Since I was checking out before breakfast time; they offered to prepare a breakfast pack, which was delivered to my room within a short space of time.

The shower drainage. Water fills the entire bathroom floor. I was in a pool of water. The mats were all soaked.

Loved the wildlife that greeted us - zebra etc. Pool was refreshing. Room was super comfy and loved the mosquito nets around the bed. Dining outside on the terrace or within the open-sided dining area was a treat. Food was tasty. Location to the Blyde River Dam boat trip was only 10 minutes away.

Location is a bit "out-of-the-way".

We had a lovely warm welcome from the staff, who were very attentive and friendly throughout our stay. Dinner was excellent, served outside and breakfast was amazing also. If we had known how nice it was there we would have booked another night just so that we could relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Very delicious dinner, however, it was a not a buffet and meals were already decided, also, drinks were not included in the dinner price and we had to pay separately, disappointing.
