Super friendly staff - really went out of their way to accommodate the challenging vegetarian requirements of our youngest child. The staff was really so great and friendly and nice with the children. Also helped me out helping to book a ferry from Sagoseneki in Japanese. Can’t get much better. Nice spacious cottage houses. Many amenities included as well. Tasty yakiniku and shabu-shabu dinners (with lots of wagyu meat) and nice breakfasts too. Private inside and outside bath were great and hot. The cottage is showing some wear and tear but it adds to the charm. We would have happily stayed for a full week.
It is further away from mount Aso and Kurakawa onsen than you might expect. Keep that in mind.

Huge and comfortable beds, spacious room, helpful staff. Our room had both an indoor and outdoor private onsen, which we really enjoyed. We had a very relaxing stay, would go back in the future.
Vegetarian meals are not possible.

It's a little bit difficult to find the hotel, yet once we got there, the warm and welcoming reception staff, Nyimas, who checked us in, her genuinely pleasant personalities had made us feel right at home. The villa we stayed, it was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The in room onsen was a true highlight: soothing, clean, and beautifully designed for an authentic experience. Parking was conveniently located right in front of our villa, making arrival and departures effortless. Every meal was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, showcasing local flavors and fresh ingredients. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, with staff always eager to help and attentive to every detail. I definitely would consider staying again if I visit Aso in the future.

The property is exactly the same as shown in the photo. The property is at a remote location, it’s a quiet place which you can enjoy your time with you friends and family. The food tastes good 😎

Stayed for 1 night at this hotel. Hotel staff reached out from the booking platform after the reservation was confirmed, informing and asking me about meal preferences, check-in timings and other details. Response to enquires and requests were prompt, usually within 1-2 hours. Check-in and check-out was smooth and receptionist explained everything from the meals timings, parking and other house rules clearly. The room was big and bed was comfy. The location is also very quiet and peaceful. The in-room onsen was excellent, used it multiple times during the stay. Both the dinner and breakfast was great and we were so full after the meals. WiFi signals were strong Overall experience is fantastic.
The hotel is excellent, nothing to complain about. Do note that it is not easy to get to the hotel as it is in a small single-lane road. There are not many restaurants in the vicinity, so if you do not have a restaurant reservation for dinner, it would be wise to reserve dinner at the hotel in advance.

I think the ryokan in itself is very oustanding. 1. location: it's the onsen area so its not so different from others 2. room: we have private onsen house so it's superb nice to have your own onsen 3. half board: it's in the middle of nowhere so it's important to have dinner in there. the meal is okay (I would rate 7/10) 4. the house is nicely maintained 5. staff is overall very nice - with quite well spoken English
not much really. 1. breakfast: coffee could be improved, it's brewed coffee while i'm really expecting ground coffee auto machine these days so we get a nice Americano. 2. I planned to stay two nights but the first night i would have to come by 7pm but they insisted that dinner must start 6pm. so I decided to stay with other hotel instead who's more accommodating...

Beautiful location on the top of a mountain. Very spacious log cabins with a private onsen in your room. Excellent dinners and breakfast, definitely worth the cost especially as you are in a very rural location so it would have been difficult to try to find somewhere else for dinner. The staff were exceptional, polite, friandly, helpful, just outstanding!. We made the stupid mistake of leaving our passports in the room safe and didn't realize until we were 3 hours away. These were forwarded to our next hotel and arrived the following day. Outstanding service. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Wonderful staff, beautiful and clean rooms, great food. Calm and peaceful spot in a rural part of Japan. Many public Onsen to enjoy, Spas and nature. They offer great amenities as well. just an amazing experience, especially with the private onsen, which works wonders on the skin, body and spirit. We had an amazing time here!
A washing maschine would make the stay a 10/10. Its also only accessible by car, which is alright, but you definitely need to plan for driving around a lot. It can be a bit far from some noteworthy spots in the area.

The staff were delightful and very helpful. The younger staff spoke very good English and they helped the older staff if there was anything they didn't understand. They were all extremely welcoming and hospitable. The room and the bath were very clean and kept refreshed. It was a real treat! We felt we were really looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The setting is exquisite and there are other Onsen you can visit nearby. Having a car is a real plus, we saw people walking but much easier to hire a car. The food is delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. all local and fresh and accommodations can be made if you don't want the main that is on offer. I know there are many other Onsen Ryokan nearby but this one felt comfortable, welcoming and after three nights we really didn't want to leave.

We really enjoyed our stay. We booked a room with its own outside onsen tub, which was excellent. As we had our own private onsen, we did not use the common bathing facilities. As there are no restaurants anywhere near the hotel, we ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day. They prepared different meals for us each time, and the meal presentation and taste were outstanding. The staff were also excellent, and attended to our every request. Several staff members were able to speak English as we can't speak any Japanese. The location is a bit out of town along a winding forest road. It would be impossible to get to the hotel without a car and google maps. With the meals our stay was somewhat expensive but we would definitely stay again when we are in the area.
