From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease. CG greeted us with a warm smile and took the time to explain everything about the Eco Lodge and its surroundings – a personal touch we really appreciated. The lodge itself feels like a hidden paradise, perfectly nestled in nature. It’s peaceful, serene, and full of charm. The natural swimming pool is a real highlight, perfect for cooling off during the day, while evenings are filled with the calming sounds of crickets and frogs – a magical soundtrack to fall asleep to. The staff were wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their genuine kindness made the stay even more special.

Staff, food were excellent. Also good English speakers. Evening had a nice dinner party vibe to it. Host hooked me up with a bus to get off the island before the impending typhoon hit. Not sure how they did it, but our bus skipped the horribly long lines at the port to cross to Haiphong. We were then escorted, not to a ferry, but a speed boat that got to the mainland within ten minutes.

The nature trails leaving from the property were...not really trails and required long pants/sleeves. If you can rent a scooter, which I couldn't the first day because all of theirs were already rented, it's a nice, quiet location and you can go wherever you want.

After two weeks of traveling through Vietnam, Cat Ba Eco Lodge was exactly what we needed to unwind. Peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature – we loved just sitting on the veranda and listening to the sounds of the forest. The whole place is beautifully designed, and our bungalow was clean, cozy, and perfect for relaxing days. The team was super friendly and attentive. Especially a big thank you to CG at the reception for taking such good care of us! We did some hikes straight from the lodge, rented a scooter to explore the island, went kayaking, and just enjoyed the calm atmosphere. The food was really tasty, and the family dinner on our last night was such a lovely experience! And of course, the adorable dogs and puppies totally stole our hearts. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back someday!

Breakfast was limited, but good pancakes. Was in a natural setting. Room was too dark, not enough lighting. The staff was very helpful in arranging local tourism and transport to and from the hotel. It's a bit off the beaten track. To get there we took a bus from Hanoi about three hours to the ferry point. From there a bus and then dropped off on the side of the road and picked up soon after by a taxi. Our trip out was good, door to door in Ninh Binh via taxi, bus, speed fury and mini-van

After a week in Hanoi, this location was perfect. The forest and chalets were so beautiful and peaceful, I immediately asked to stay an additional night. I happily ate every meal there and, although it was 20 minutes from towns/harbors, the staff was extremely helpful in arranging transport and tours (including special requests). I appreciated the sustainability ethos, especially as my main goal on the island was seeing the critically endangered langurs. It also couldn't have been easier to get there from Hanoi -- they arranged one bus/ferry/bus trip that included hotel pickup and dropoff. I enjoyed meeting the other guests as well. Just a truly wonderful stay thanks to the skillful and generous Kien, Hieu, Cuong, Hằng, and Aye.

This was a wonderful, quiet place to stay away from the noise and bustle of the village. I had some wonderful, quiet evenings sitting on the deck of the cabin, watching the sun set with a glass of wine. The food was excellent! The staff went above and beyond to help me plan my stay on the island, organizing tours and transport for me. With their help, everything went without a single problem, and I had a wonderful time! A huge thanks to everyone who helped me during my stay and were just so wonderfully kind and accommodating. Nice birding and wildlife watching nearby! Thousands of butterflies, if you go at the right time of year.

Lovely peaceful environment. Good staff . They arranged scooters and booked our onward bus tickets which was useful. Food can be got at the resort but there are good and varied options in Cat BA town. Internet quality in the chalet I was in was not very powerful but worked well in the main reception area. My chalet needs a little bit of maintenance ( cracked bathroom tiles) and the bedding had holes in the cotton covers (moths?) My chalet had two double beds in it which took up most of the space. For two people it would have been too small. We enjoyed our stay

The Eco Lodge was our favourite stay in Vietnam! The staff Kian, Cuong and Thai were exceptional - they were friendly, funny and kings at karaoke. The food was amazing, the eggplant tofu and the passion fruit margaritas were my favourite. Also beautiful scenery, clean rooms, just everything was SO GOOD! The chalets are beautifully furnished, very quiet, and idyllically located, with plenty of activities nearby. The food and service were consistently excellent, and we received great advice and support with our planning. Highly recommended!

The only downside is that the chalets are somewhat poorly soundproofed, so noise from neighbors can be an issue if you get bad luck. Additionally, some minor renovations could be beneficial. Otherwise, they are absolutely fantastic!

Absolutely lovely little lodge location in a valley outside Cat Ba town. The staff is wonderful and CJ is good fun to be around. The lodges are comfortable with good beds and bathrooms. There are options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Getting to town is basically only possible with a scooter, which can be rented on location.

Scooter rental prices are quite high compared to other places but not too crazy.
