The receptionist, Ellie (Brit), was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Ellie welcomed us, shared her number (so we could get help if needed), organised a tour for us, checked in on us etc. She really highlighted how kind she was today though when we'd had a few troubles and she went out of her way to make us comfortable and as happy as possible. Literally amazing! Thank you so much. Otherwise the hostel is lovely - nice clean pool, warm showers, free towels, smaller dorms (we stayed in a 6 bed) but also privates available, food was quick and good quality/prices, hammocks, fairy lights etc etc. The hostel is slightly out of town so attracts a friendly but more chilled/mature group. There's also a fun bar within about 2 mins walk of the hostel with pool, board games (Scrabble and Catan!), food and the best cocktails. But yes thank you Ellie for treating my sister and I so well. Greatly appreciated

We aimed to be in a chilled hostel and this one is great for that and has a secluded beach across the road that's gorgeous but if you want to stay in the middle of town, this place won't be for you. This place is called Sol Beach but the locals call it Wood Stock, that's how it's labelled on Google Maps and that's what the sign in front says - just something to be aware of.

Nice to be out of the town in the evening - much more chilled out. Atmospheric pool area was beautifully planted and lit, with a relaxed vibe, lively with friendly local families. Staff were incredibly helpful in making the most of our time, organising our taxis, trips and onward transport very smoothly and doing our laundry. Issues with air-con remote battery and leaky shower-head fixed immediately when reported. Staff so courteous and keen to communicate despite language barrier (thanks to Google Translate!).

During the day, and early in the morning, the road is busy and the rooms are disturbed by the traffic noise and horns. If you plan to go to sleep before midnight, beware the beach and the little beach bars do local karaoke (and it is not always high quality!). The beach was very littered but it was a pretty bay setting for the view over the sea.

We had a nice stay at Cat Ba SOL Beach - (Woodstock Beach Camp on Google)! We stayed there for a few days and we were quite happy to don’t be in the city center of Cat Ba which is not very peaceful neither charming. The landscapes around the hotel is beautiful! Room was spacious, bed were comfortable and it was quiet at night. We didn’t have the occasion to see a lot the owners but they were very kind and were very helpful to change our dates. The room cleaning service is great, towels and bins were changed everyday! The pool is great, and there is a lovely cocktail bar 3 minutes away by walk from the hotel. We had really good nights of sleep there !

I think it’s important to note that you can’t swim in the beach in front, it’s full of garbages on the beach, we booked this hotel thinking we would enjoy the beach, but obviously we didn’t. We didn’t have a smooth check-in despite the fact that I communicated our check-in time several times per text, and it was not an early checkin (6pm). The young boy that welcomed us was sweet but unprofessional, same for the staff on the morning at breakfast, no one really welcomed us, they just said it was self-service but they were no more cups, nor coffee, nor spoons… Cocktails and food are average, too bad because the bar is very lovely !

Really cool place and everyone working there was really nice and friendly, inviting us for food and live music in the bar across the road. Breakfast was really nice and the beach across the road is beautiful with swings. They rented scooters cheap and also helped us book a boat trip around the island and bus to Ha Giang at really good prices

The accommodation has very positive and chill vibe. The pool area is amazing, food was really good and room was clean and cozy. The staff was super nice and helped me with everything (bus, boat trip, laundry, bike rent...). Comparing to the Cat Ba town full of multi-floor concrete hotels and the constructions everywhere, this place was much better and calmer place to stay. Highly recommended.

After the September typhoon the beach nearby is full of garbage and other things. It is not a hotel staff fault, they are working on it and it will take lot of work and time to make it nice again. I just want to mention that so other guests are not dissappointed. The typhoon disaster consequences are visible all around the island. Local people are working hard to restore everything though.(November 24)

Fantastic breakfast for a fixed price! Really helpful staff. They have motorbikes for rent and helped with transportation to/from the island. It's far from the town but really cozy. They allowed us to leave our luggage and come back and shower which was extremely helpful and really appreciated.

The beach across from the hotel isn't really a beach to swim at. It's full of trash and debris. Still a beautiful view but I wouldn't book here if you were looking for access to a lovely beach.

Absolute amazing staff, helped us organize all trips and the transport. Food was very tasty and value for money, especially fried rice with chicken. We traveled with 2 small kids, and the kids enjoyed it, especially a nice big swimming pool. We could hear the see waves in the night in our bungalow which was very nice. Free WiFi.

There were no hangers, it’s close to the road but it didn’t bother us. It would be nice if they have more comfy seat in the restaurant/bar area. In front of the hotel there is a beach (but trust me-you don’t want to swim there, so much dirt around).

We arrived during têt week, Elly was very welcoming and nice to us, we had great advices and attentions from her and the staff. The hotel has several spaces which is great, and having the beach just in front is just perfect. We also rented a scooter for 2 days, which did the job to move around the island. Our 2-year-old son and us had a quiet wonderful stay. Thank you very much again !

My stay at the CAT BA SOL BEACH was undoubtedly a positive experience. The excellent location of the hotel allowed me to easily access all the attractions and activities in the area. Furthermore, the internet was of high quality and reliability, which was crucial for both my business and leisure trips. The outstanding aspect of my stay was unquestionably the excellent service I enjoyed. I would like to particularly mention DOAN , who was extremely attentive and helpful throughout my entire stay. DOAN went above and beyond to ensure that all my requests, questions, and even potential issues were addressed promptly and efficiently. Her care and professionalism made my stay truly memorable. One of the most noteworthy things DOAN did for me was independently plan my departure schedule, ensuring that I could enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning and still make it to the airport in time for my flight. This was extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
