I travelled from Pattaya by train to the main train station in Bangkok. As a 74 year old solo traveler (lady) I spent hours on the internet researching a suitable hostel in Bangkok close to the station. I was impressed with reviews and photos of Noir Café & Hostel and booked a bed in an 8-bed female dormitory – the very first time I have ever stayed in a hostel. I was certainly not disappointed. Although their closing time is 6 pm, they agreed to wait for my arrival at 7 pm. I was warmly welcomed by a lovely young lady, who booked me in smoothly, showed me my bed and the other facilities. I had a bottom bunk (didn’t want to risk climbing up a ladder). I had a thick curtain for privacy, comfy mattress, charging outlet and a security cage under the bed with a lock to house my small suitcase. The bathroom was a few steps away - very clean and it had shower gel and shampoo as advertised. The AC in the room was also welcome and was not too cold as the curtain protected us from any direct cold draft. They operate a café downstairs but unfortunately, I was not able to sample their food (which I read was delicious) because I left at 6:30 am with a taxi to Thonburi train station, from where I was travelling to Kanchanaburi. The owner was extremely helpful and ordered the taxi and waited outside with me to make sure that he found the address and also explained to him in Thai exactly where I needed to go. I was very satisfied indeed with my stay at Noir Café & Hostel and would definitely recommend it. As mentioned, I had never stayed in a hostel anywhere in the world, but if this is an example of what can be offered, I was very satisfied indeed.

I did not find anything not to like - everything was very satisfactory.

If you have an early morning train then this hostel is ideal, as it's only a 5-10 minute walk to one of the main train stations in the city (Hua Lamphung) and they make a good espresso.

It was super clean, so quiet and very near to China Town.

There was no hair dryer, no elevator and there is charge 50 baht for the towel.

Great location, friendly helpful staff, comfy bed with curtain and locker. One bathroom and two showers. Shampoo and shower gel provided. Bring your own towel. Plug socks beside the bed. Downstairs a cafe and restaurant. Highly recommended ! Hard bed I like it, pillow too big for me, but I usually sleep without.

They could add a "roof" on the top bunk beds. In the bathroom/shower there are no hooks to hang clothes and towel.

Probably the cleanest hostel I have ever visited. The bathroom was good. The staff were nice and chill. Bed was big enough and the lamp, plugs and storage space are everything you can want from a hostel It is a walking distance from the blue line metro

- the AC was causing my throat to dry and to make my nose stuffy. I have slept in rooms with AC before and since - that is the only place where it has happened, consistently over the course of 3 nights The mattress and pillow were harder/stiffer then what I would call comfortable. And I do prefer hard mattress and pillow, these were a bit too much - I was hoping to meet other travellers and socialise with them. Either due to the small hostel or the fact that we were at low occupancy, this didn't happen

I liked the location being close to Chinatown which made finding great food for a decent price easy. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly if I needed anything. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The coffee quality was great and a fair price as it didn't come with the stay. The security of the building as well as the rooms were well designed.

I didn't like that the bathroom shared space with the shower if you needed to just use the restroom and someone was showering. Both showers also didn't have many places, shelves or a caddy to hold your showering items. The entire bathroom was wet after someone showered so a water squeegee would have been nice to help dry the bathroom faster for future users.
