I loved the location and layout. Would have really liked sidewalks for safer walking. Prices of meals were high and we felt a bit captive to eating only resort meals - but, for a few days vacation in combination with the rest, it was fine. Loved the salon, golf cart and ease of booking day trips. Staff were great - friendly, professional, and helpful. Shuttle worked well when we needed it. Overall, we ( family of child, adult dad, and senior grandmother) loved it.
Better road ways and sidewalks. Expensive food / meal choices.

Lovely pools, nice entertainment programme for kids, gorgeous beach. Our apartment has a good little kitchen area so we could do some self catering. Staff were lovely. We had a great time overall as our kids lov e pools
Had WiFi problems in our room. To be fair, they tried hard to fix it but the wifi in our room wasn't the best. Sofa in our apartment wasn't very comfy but luckily we were mostly at the pool! Some scheduled activities didn't run and we were there beginning of August which I thought was considered peak season

We love Playa Blanca - this time we went during rainy season - we spent first day mid-morning to early afternoon. Great waves on one side, and relaxing/calmer waters on the other side. We went later in afternoon next day and it was already too cloudy (rain coming in) and water was rough. Third day we came early morning before checking out and it was still high tide / water too rough. So best to come mi-day (around 10/11)
Wifi - we stayed in Arrecifes and wifi was great near the pool but not in the room (even if you connect to the other wifi that was meant for the room) Towels - not available in Playa Blanca, only for members.

Staff was great, very clean rooms and area. The restaurant was great and the pizza was delicious. The gourmet breakfast was great also. Playa blanca was very nice and super clean. The pool was also pretty nice and we were able to see many animals. There are small stores wre you can buy snacks or essentials. The hotel is far away from the main street or any other rural areas so is very quiet and relaxing.
All the facilities are too far from each other, you literally need a car to move from one place to the other (for example your room, restaurants, the pool area) or to go to playa blanca, there is a transportation service but you have to wait for it every 30 minutes if am not mistaken, I would not recommend the place to someone who doesn't have a vehicle. The private street to reach the hotel is not in very good condition and there is another route that is public but that route is even worse. Beds were not very confortable.

The premises of the resort are pretty big and there's a lot of preserved nature, so that's really nice. The check-in was easy, the room was nice, we had the last little hut-room in the row of huts and our windows looked directly into the jungle/forest, so that was nice, too. The property has access to 2 beaches - Playa Mantas seems to be public, even though i'm not sure how anyone outside the resort would get there, but Playa Blanca is private and you have to show a resort bracelet (or pay, i assume) to get there. And i understand why - cause boy, is that a beautiful beach!!! We had a delicious meal in their restaurant, had drinks, had fun with all the monkeys that come and try to steal things and then watched the most beautiful sunset. All in all, we had a wonderful experience! We also liked that the resort is not far away from San Jose and we could go directly to the airport from here for our flight at noon instead of having to spend the night in the capital. It was about a 2-hr drive to the airport (that's about 1 hr 15 min the whole way and about an hour for the last 5 km bc of crazy traffic :D so keep that in mind)
The cost of stay is pretty high, as well as anything you buy there, but it was worth it because the facilities were up to the standard.

The beach at Playa blancas is wonderful. Very large spread out. Lots of space. To enjoy sunrise / sunset you have to stay at hotel as access private unless low tide.
You must have watts ap to call cars to pick you up to go to breakfast. You can't get towels for the beach, except at pool, which you have to get a car to. Would be easier if you could use members towels at beach - an idea. Reception is very badly organised. Expect a long wait in wrong line and also people pushing past you, which the reception allow.

We did not know what to expect, and the pictures did not show an accurate view. It is an extensive gated property with a lot of what seem to be privately owned or time-share houses and apartments. The resort has 2 (semi) private beaches that are gorgeous, but the facilities feel a bit dated. We stayed in a 6-person apartment. All the bare necessities were there, but nothing more. We loved going to Playa Blanco, and the hotel pass gave us free access and parking. But the towel service is only valid at the pool at the main resort. We loved the overall experience, but it felt more like a community of regular visitors than a hotel/resort.
Show more pictures of the community and perhaps a map of the property to show the layout. I would like a bit more character in the room and not the bare bones set up it now is: no decorations, a living room with only 2 chairs in it.

The place is really good 💯 and safe. Has everything you need to enjoy yourself. It is my husband's favorite place. Beds are really clean and comfortable
I have been there a few times already. However, I noticed they were letting the ground go a little. The breakfast buffet is not as good as it used to be. This time it felt that something was missing.

The pools were amazing. The property was much much bigger than anticipated and I was surprised how far the 6 person apartment was away from the facilities like the pools and beach, etc. Playa Blanca was beautiful, tables and chairs were available but we brought our own beach chairs because previous reviews mentioned beach chairs were not available. There was a rip tide so need to be careful. Lifeguards were on duty at both the pools and the beach.Didn't get a chance to play mini golf due to rain. A fallen tree knocked out a pole and internet but it was fixed within a day. Plenty of towels were available in the apartment and cards were given to get towels at the pool.
The beds were not comfortable in the apartment we stayed in 7204. There were only 3 chairs with cushions for 5 people in our group in the living area.

Excellent installation, a lot of space to enjoy with the family, many activities. Access to Playa Blanca by car with parking available. Best beach in the region.
Not a dislike, but watch-out. Our room was located in a beautiful place “Selvamar” in the heart of the trees, beautiful. But 10-15min walk to swimming pool and activities area. And car/hotel transport recommend to go to Playa Blanca. The beach close to the pool is Mantas.
