I loved the smell of incense at the entrance hall and the smell of tatami's in the room! Air in the room was really good. Traditional futon was nice to sleep on. The room was simple and had that very nice retro feeling, also the long table front of the window was really convenient! Ryokan's location is super good! Convenience store was really near to find. The staff was really nice and understanding! Over all the customer service was very good! I took the morning breakfast and it was maybe the best one I have ever had! It looked really simple but the dishes were really delicious!

What I didn't like was not the ryokan's fault, but the other customers with families who didn't respect the rules and kept being really loud until late night.

Our first time at a ryokan was a lovely experience! The staff was helpful and upon arrival we got to book the charming bath area for ourselves for an hour that night. The ryokan was also able to customize a vegan breakfast for me when requested at check-in :) The traditional tatami room was cozy and it was also a nice experience to roam the atmospheric hallways in our yukatas. Really flexible service too, we were able to leave our luggage in storage for a few hours even after checking out! It was also not busy at all which was a nice extra luxury. A great location for a one night stay in Kawagoe!

As it's an older building, some things are a bit dated. It's mostly just part of the charm, but the private bathroom in our room did have some small specks of mold and a funny smell. The air conditioning also smelled a bit mildewy at first when turned on. Other than that the room and public spaces were clean and comfortable, so it was definitely a positive experience!

The room was spacious and comfortable, one of the best Futons on our trip. The location was good, slightly out of the busy part of town, but very close to Kawagoe Castle Remains and walking distance from plenty of shrines. The highlight was the bath setup - plenty of sitting showers and wood lined walls and large bath for a reserved soak!

Although it didn't bother us too much, just a warning for other travellers, it's better not to have as much luggage as we did. (4 different suitcases for 2 people) because of space in the door entrance to the room. Just something to be aware of!

Great little ryokan in the historic center of town. It is small independent inn housed in an old building which gave it lots of character. Staff were very nice and friendly. Location is within 3 to 5 mins of the historical street which is good for tourists. Excellent transport with bus stops nearby to Kawagoe Station.

Shared toilet and sink was slightly inconvenient. We can book 1 hour to use the showers/bath. Facilities are a little old but in good condition. Cleanliness really depended on your neighhors to all pitch in!

Location is superb, walking distance to all main shopping streets and restaurants. There’s around 3-4 parking space available for the guests to use. The room is very spacious for my family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). There’s a toilet and wash bin in the room while guests need to book time slot for the private bath on the ground floor. So be there early to book the time you want for bath.

Stairs, they are steep and narrow. Please avoid big and heavy suitcases.

The location is incredibly convenient, the staff are lovely, the room was beautiful, the building is lovely and the breakfast was divine. I really can't say enough good things.

My only two gripes are that (at least in the family room) there is next to no sound insulation. You can hear absolutely everything. Every cough, sneeze foot fall and yawn. The building also shakes when a heavy vehicle goes past. The other issue is that the futon I had was quite thin so I woke up sore where my hip rib and shoulder bones had been digging into the floor. I know the sound issue can't be helped with such an old building, but it's worth considering if you're a light sleeper.

Pros are 1. Located in the old town area 2. has a few parking lots 3. very clean, a good breakfast.

Cons are 1. no bath shower in the room. You have to pre book your 1 hour shower slot. 2. the futon was rather thin and not comfortable and the pillow was too small. 3. no 2 bottles of water provided. These are cheap basics. 4. no kettle provided despite providing some tea bags. 5. no elevators, so need to climb up sleep stairs if your room is upstairs.

Very convenient, the bus stop was right outside the hotel, and its along a bus route for a beautiful shrine! The rooms and facilities were spacious, tidy, and clean. I loved the small public lounge area too. Staff were very sweet and helpful! They can speak English ☺️

They don't have USB outlets in the room, so bring your own! I asked the front desk for one and they gladly me lent me theirs though, so not a big problem!

Great location walking distance from the old town with a amazing burger restaurant right on the corner. Private onsen rental time given at check and for no extra charge, which was lovely and made my teenager much more comfortable with the onsen thing. Breakfast was fantastic and very authentic

We absolutely loved our stay here. Looking back at our trip it was definitely one of our favourites. The private onsen is lovely and the complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate is a nice touch. We opted for the breakfast and even that was 10/10. Super close to the bell tower and little edo. We’ve recommended to our friends already. The owner and her son were both very friendly. We felt at home.
