The staff was excellent — attentive and welcoming. However, the true highlight is the castle itself. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully prepared. Additionally, the location is both beautiful and peaceful, especially at this time of year, making it the perfect retreat.

The restaurant menu could be slightly improved, particularly with more options for children, which would be helpful for families traveling with kids. That said, please don’t get me wrong — the food itself was absolutely outstanding!

This is all about the location. A wonderfully restored castle in a beautiful setting. A compliment to the interior designers - the decor may not be to everybody's liking but the "castle theme (in a modern sense)" is excellently carried out in so many details. Attentive service! Great wine list (and good advice from the restaurant staff regarding the wines, since they are little known outside of Slovenia)

Some small details not really worth mentioning, but one does have rather high expectations of an R&C hotel. Mainly that the quality of the food in the restaurant was not quite up to the level that this hotel promises. Nothing to complain about .. but not noteworthy either (maybe we had been spoiled too much at the R&C Kendov Dvorec where meals were extraordinary); great winlelist, though

Light coming in the room above and on the sides of the blackout curtains, a few leakages from the roof which were not fixed/painted. At the dinner we overheard the conversation at the next table; there were four people, one of them didn’t eat meat which meant we could not have the meat based set menu, but then also the other three were not allowed to have the set menu. Waiter said that “it is either the whole table or no one as that’s their rule!”.. which we saw as very inflexible and a bit unprofessional perhaps…we understand the situation would be different if only one of the four would want the set menu. However, we loved that they were able to accommodate our dietary requirements and also their homemade ice-tea was lovely.

We enjoyed a completely pampered stay - definitely a plus on a 10 week roadtrip abroad as the hotel afforded total downtime on what was otherwise a whirlwind tour of places we've never explored. The hotel is amazing for its location and history, and the wine tasting experience in the old castle tower was a highlight.

Location and ambience were brilliant. Staff was exceptional! Best customer service ever. Access to the sauna and pool at sports centre.

Should include on information sheet about the automatic drying of bath tub and also the quirks of Google maps to get to the Toplice thermal baths.

Although the room was stylish and a good size, the bathroom in comparison was very small and not very well lit … water could have been hotter.

The restaurant was closed for two days, bar food at least would have been great, the swimming pool was not at the location but another hotel.

Fantastic suite, staff very helpful and friendly staff ( we arrived increasingly late and they still made sure they fed us!). The island is a lovely tranquil spot

Wasn't aware in advance that a function would limit the restaurant one night. We would have appreciated advance notice since we needed to find alternative arrangements.

I booked my stay through booking.com It looks that I booked single room with mistake. By check out hotel charged me additional 130-140€, what I think it is real rip off. I believe that my room has no value of 340€ and I hot very upset. I am not sure if I will ever stay there again.

Great location and „castle“ atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. Dinner was outstanding.

Breakfast was mediocre, somehow no yoghurt available for the muesli/ cereal. Not quite 10 points.
