Breakfast was offered as a continental box delivered to your room or as a full meal at a sister location, the Schaffner House, not far away. We chose to have a full meal every morning. The food was excellent as was the staff. The location was also excellent. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance. And, of course, the restoration of the stately architecture and historic design of the Summit St Inns and Schaffner House are appreciated.

I have two rather minor complaints. We didn't have access to any ice as the machine was broken. A temporary solution would have been in order. And for some reason the touch pad locks at the two locations, Summit St and Schaffner House, had different sequences of operation which we weren't informed of nor familiar with, so we had to wait at the door at Schaffner House until someone let us in. This was slightly frustrating. The solution is to install the same locks on all locations and also don't assume that everyone knows how to operate touch pad locks.

A truly spectacular inn! We visited Winston-Salem as part of our college tour through North Carolina, and always eager to avoid the sterility of the chain hotels, found this gem of a hotel. The Baldwin room with two queen beds was perfect for our family - super comfy beds and a spectacular bath and shower, lovingly restored. Breakfast was good, although we came on a day when the restaurant wasn't open. The wrap-around porch was our favorite place for an early morning coffee, enjoying the marvelous gardens around the house. The neighborhood is great - quiet, beautiful, with several excellent restaurant a short 5-minute walk away. Wake Downtown was 8 minutes by car, and Wake Forest another 20 minutes away - we are glad we made this choice!

Our breakfast was "only" continental on a Thursday morning. 5 days a week it is in the restaurant and by report spectacular.

This was my first visit to Winston-Salem and I was very glad I chose to stay at Summit Street Inn. It was really beautifully decorated and cosy warm, especially in the middle of a snowy weekend. The team were great and so friendly & helpful. They even prepared food on one of the evenings due to the weather conditions to make sure no-one would go hungry. I was there originally for a running race and would recommend it to groups exploring the area. When this was rescheduled it turned into a writing retreat for me and was the perfect set up with beautiful parlours to sit peacefully in, watching the snow fall and be creative. The location was great and I could walk to a nice wine bar (Joyner's), restaurant (Quanto Basta) & cafe (The Remedy). Very easy parking and lovely historic homes in the surrounding streets to admire on a stroll.

The breakfast box offered was good. The utensils to eat it with were flimsy. The sit-down breakfast at the other inn (a twisty drive with lots of turns, about a mile away) was good, but they are understaffed. The Inns themselves were gorgeous!! They are decorated with antique furniture, which isn't ergonomic at all, but very pretty to look at. The staff is helpful and friendly.

I was a bit confused when I arrived because the Inn itself didn't have an address or a building name. (could be exhaustion from traveling- but since there is more than one property, a specific sign would have helped) An individual pitcher of milk would be much more authentic than little plastic containers. One comfy chair in the room would help a lot with relaxing. Also, the temperature in the room swung widely, perhaps more insulation in the attic would help.

The house is nicely decorated. The room was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was delicious at Founders. Make sure you follow the printed directions. The restaurant sits on 2 one way streets. So seeing and getting into the parking lot is challenging. I look forward to returning.

I can't think of anything I didn't like about Summit House Inns. Maybe a nice reading chair or two would have been useful in the room. But that is a personal preference. There were other cozy areas in the common areas for sitting and relaxing.

Staff was incredibly attentive to our needs and very friendly.

This isnt related to the inn...The complementary breakfast at Founders restaurant was painfully slow. It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food even though there were only 6 guests dining at the time. Another guest waited nearly an hour for a waffle. Food was delicious when it came out but it wasn't hot, just warm...so it was an issue with the serving staff. I recommend requesting Summitt Inns "breakfast in a bag" option if you're looking to get going quicker.

The Inns are in a lovely older part of Winston-Salem. Each room is decorated differently. My room was quite large with a very comfortable king bed, fireplace, large walk-in shower and a separate tub. All the amenities are first class and it was like stepping back in history to experience a bit of gracious southern charm. I loved every minute and wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks so much for a beautiful stay!

The historic house has so much character and charm but has been beautifully and carefully updated. The bathroom was modern and the bedroom had great personality. I felt like I was staying at a friend’s house!

They served a cold breakfast in the dining room but supposedly a hot breakfast at their sister property, which has a restaurant. I tried to go to the other location for a hot breakfast but couldn’t figure out how to get in or if it was even open. I couldn’t find any staff and eventually just gave up. That was a little disappointing.

Our large room with a comfortable king-size bed was well-appointed. We loved receiving a small bottle of wine, chocolates, and both sparkling and still water. The large shower with multiple shower heads was also fantastic. I recommend this inn, as well as Bernardin's restaurant next door.

We had the option of enjoying a continental breakfast at the inn or a full breakfast a mile away at the Shaffner Inn. We opted to walk to the Shaffner Inn, but were disappointed with the menu items we chose. The service and veranda setting, however, were great.

Beautiful property, very comfortable and quiet! The staff made sure we had everything we needed during our stay including wine upon our arrival. Breakfast is provided either on this property or it’s a short walk to their sister property for a delicious hot breakfast. Also within walking distance to nice restaurants for lunch and dinner.
