Very charming building and the Twin City Suite a friend and I shared was like a small apartment with a full size refrig which was nice to have. The staff, especially Stephanie and Elza where amazingly kind and quickly responded to any request we had. We had booked our next stay before we even left. The Founders Inn also had great dinner items (we tried many) and breakfast was okay.

Even though the suite we stayed in had a sink and dish drying rack, microwave, coffee, and a full size refrig, there were no dishes or utensils and now dish soap or dish towels. This meant we had to go ask for these items each time we needed them. That seemed like a weird set up to not even have just two plates, two bowls, two glasses and two sets of utensils and some dish soap.

Excellent breakfast fare and service, but continental breakfast only on Tuesday and Wednesday. Served pleasantly on porch. This is a very old house with no elevators serving 3 floors, but otherwise a unique ambiance. Only 2 innkeepers who do everything they can to accommodate. Great security, as combination locks employed after dark. Interesting experience. Our room was very comfortable.

Access to and egress from parking lot a bit difficult to a one-way street series, but more than adequate space.

not the property’s fault but road construction made access a challenge, fortunately the front desk person was able to guide me in over the phone. Took a very long time to get warm water in the ‘super sized’ shower…and it never got hot. There are a lot of steps from the parking lot to the entry and hauling luggage was not fun. If you have a small car the circular driveway in front will save many steps but not all…suggestion…an access point from the parking lot into the rear of the building. this lodging is historic so maybe consider an external elevator up from rear parking lot that is disguised and visually unobtrusive.

This place is is set in a cozy fashion,...you'll feel like home away from home. This place is not like a hotel room with modern walls and paintings (you get that anywhere else you go) and once in the room you're forgotten, no....Here you'll feel included from start to finish. It's sparkling clean everywhere you look in your room. Staff is awesome and the owner even more. Breakfast is free and it is prime. It's all you can eat but it's not buffet style,... you order at the table while you sip your coffee and the food comes to you in 5-10min. It's a full restaurant, you get the real deal. Parking free, location is great, you're in the middle of everything and have plenty of options to satisfy your curiosity.

If you're into TV and have particular channels you want to watch, ask if you get them in your room.

The property was absolutely gorgeous! The staff was wonderful and welcoming, and the breakfast the next day was exceptional!! The rooms were spacious and clean, and the beds were very comfortable.

Only a few little hiccups keep me from giving this property a 10: the mini-fridge in our room did not work at all. There was no toilet paper in our room, so I had to go down to the desk to ask for some. The property also didn't provide hand soap in the bathrooms, so we had to use the body wash from the shower to wash our hands. This wouldn't have been a big deal, however the body wash wasn't fully filled, so we ran out mid-shower in the morning.

The staff was phenomenal. The food was amazing. The vibe was adorable and I really enjoyed my stay in the king room downstairs!

My only comment if I had to find one would be I wish the downstairs area was a little better lit at night so if you didn’t feel like sitting in your room, it was more welcome. I also would comment on the soaps conditioner and shampoos. I think a scented one might work. But I’m honestly trying to find something constructive to say! I really just loved my experience

The piedmont room was super cool. Really big suite but was super comfortable. The wet bar and bathroom were great, tub was big enough for 2 and the bed was nice. Breakfast at Founders (downstairs at the Inn) that was included was really good and all in all you can’t beat the value.

The room could use some touching up. It is nice but the carpet it very stained which wasn’t a huge deal to us because you could tell it was still clean but still it’s definitely time for new carpet and maybe a darker color. Also there is some areas of paint and trim, tile on the sink, etc. that just simply need fixing to make the room what you would expect from a large suite like this. I understand everything is old but the things I’m talking about wouldn’t be big projects at all, also there was some old cake and drinks in the fridge when we got there. Just do a more thorough job cleaning, the small things make a huge difference for guests.

We actually stayed at the Summit home. We were upgraded because of a wedding party at first. I thought I was going to be disappointed because I like the Shaffner when I was looking For a place to stay. I was not disappointed at all in fact it really felt like I was on vacation after driving all day. The staff went out of their way to take care of us. It was exceptional experience. And breakfast was excellent. And Ky I was very attentive and very sweet.

The staff were efficient and personable. Breakfast coffee and omelet were outstanding. A lovely old structure.

Another room's shower sound through wall next to our bed was loud and unusual. Gratuity for the breakfast crew was unclear except for a small note at bottom of breakfast voucher "Gratuity not included" Should be obvious container near dining room entrance to collect the gratuity OR better yet, add $5-10 to room rent and pay out to staff.

the location was handy to the downtown where we went for dinner, the staff was excellent, the room was very comfortable, the wine upon attending was a nice touch, the breakfast was good, as was the server.

We are older and not technically oriented, so the television was hard for us to use and the internet did not appear to be sufficient. The location in conjunction to the highway was a bit problematic. I slept okay, but the noise of the traffic was a concern to my wife
