I had never visited Ostrava before and therefore had no real expectations of the city. The hotel proved more than adequate for my two night stay and I would stay here again if I ever return. I did walk to the hotel and it took me about twenty minutes but I later learned that there is a tram route that passes by the hotel on a service that departs from the main railway station. Staff were courteous and the breakfasts were adequate.

Not a major gripe but just an observation really; the hotel could do with a minor refresh to enhance its appeal.

Rating of 9 is for value. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Excellent hot breakfast including eggs. It is about a 14 minute walk from the train station which is shorter than the vast majority of Ostrava hotels, which center more south toward the Danube. Staff had good restaurant recommendation, worth the 22 minute walk to the south. The in-room folio says checkout is 12:00pm but hotel policy has changed and it is now 11:00am.

The hotel was very nice in terms of the building, the room including the bathroom and the parking situation. Parking is at the back of the hotel, not visible from the street (a good thing) and takes away the stress of finding parking anywhere else. There are enough spots and enough space. The breakfast was delicious and had the ammount of options you would expect from a normal hotel breakfast. The staff was friendly. We really liked that there was always someone in the lobby, we felt really safe because of that. Eventhough it felt like not everybody spoke at least some English the communication with staff always worked out. The hotel is located near 2 tram and bus stops. Getting arround was very easy and comfortable. The walk from the stations to the hotel is short and safe, at least during the day and on busy days like the festival time. The hotel is definitely a good place to stay for Colours: good to reach by tram, safe, nice rooms and good breakfast. There is also a nice supermarket just arround the corner.

It sometimes felt like some people in Ostrava do not like people who do not speak Czech. We had some very uncomfortable run ins because of that. Its not just when you approach people for something but also getting approached and them finding out you just do not understand them. Some of the few people we interacted with got really mad. Just be mindful of that in Ostrava or maybe the Czech Republic in general. The area arround the hotel felt unsafe at times. However, those instances were rare. During the festival you tend to not be alone when exiting the tram. Like in any city you just need to be careful and pay attention to your surroundings.

This was an older style of room but was very clean and has a comfortable bed. Great shower with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was included in the price of the room & was limited but sufficient.

Nothing really, the price was really good for what was included. Friendly staff who called me after I checked out to advise I had left something. Rhonda.

I have used this hotel several times when on train travels had to stay in Ostrava overnight; three tram stops from the station, trams running frequently even after 10 pm- very convenient location. The room is OK, the staff is very friendly, reception is open all night. Will stay here also next time when traveling through Ostrava,

The restaurant closes early (as almost everything in the neighborhood) which is a pity. It is a good idea to ask for a quiet room; trams are running from very early. Otherwise nothing to mention here.

Parking available. Clean and convenient. We left early, before breakfast. Staff provided a takeaway breakfast- simple but good.

We booked a room with an extra bed, but the bed was not made up when we arrived. When we asked the staff, they asked us to pay extra for the extra bed, even though we had already paid for it before. However, we managed to sort everything out and the bed was made.

Breakfast was a very good hot and cold buffet served from 07:00 Mon-Fri and 08:00 at weekends. My room was comfortable, well furnished and adequate in terms of space.

There was nothing with which I was dissatisfied.

Hotel Nikolas has an excellent location between the train station Ostrava-Hlavní nádraží and the city center. We met about 3 receptionists during our stay, but they were all very nice. Large, spacious room in the attic of the hotel with a view of the garden. We had a kettle in the room so we could make coffee or tea at any time. Private bathroom with huge bathtub. A bottle of mineral water was free in the room. Breakfast buffet, from which everyone can choose. Very good Wi-Fi internet connection.

I do not see any cons of this hotel. It is very likely that I would stay at Hotel Nikolas again next time.

Location of this hotel is excellent with tram stop few metes away and not far from central Ostrava. Ostrava train station is also within walking distance. WiFi is good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok. Rooms are very clean.

Loved this hotel, 10 minutes walk from the main railway station, or three stops by tram (very frequent). Tram/bus network also useful to get into the centre of Ostrava (trams/buses every 5 minutes) which takes about 15 minutes to walk. Check-in was very quick and efficient. Our rooms were excellent, very spacious and I enjoy the decor of this establishment. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, we were always acknowledged, and staff would stop for a chat to check that we were okay and enjoying our stay. Breakfast was excellent, a great selection of hot and cold food available.
