I have just enjoyed an absolutely fabulous 4 night stay at George & Pilgrims Hotel. The staff are all amazing, super friendly, helpful & efficient. My luggage was carried to my room for me up 2 flights of stairs to Henry VIII ( room 6) My room was very cosy & the bed was incredibly comfortable. Shower was great too. The food was outstanding! Generous portion sizes, very hot & fresh. The history of the building seeps from every wall, incredibly atmospheric yet cosy at the same time. The staff definitely made my trip super special with their kindness & attention to detail. Many thanks to you all!!

The George & Pilgrim dates back to the 1400’s so you’re not going to find everything 100% perfect & up to date technology! What you will find is a comfortable, clean & friendly environment, bang in the centre of everything & character to die for.

My friend & I stayed Friday to Sunday & sadly, rising a little late towards the latter end of the breakfast shift, they’d run out of bacon. Not the end of the world because they happily made up with extra sausage. We had no complaints to be honest but this box needed filling in & this was the “worst” thing to happen all weekend!!

really lovely old building, great location and friendly helpful staff.

this is the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in that hasn’t got it own car park, which I did know when I booked ,pay and display car park is only 1 minute away however don’t forget at 9 o’clock each morning to renew your payment we got £50 fine at 9-15 as we forgot, the traffic wardens are out to get you as soon as they can…

Beautiful building, perfect location, and a car park right behind the building ( free disabled parking). The staff are funny and were very kind, even though they were really busy ! We stayed in the Abborts room, and the bed was comfortable. The room was a little worse for wear. It had character ( is 15th century) and could do with a bit of an update of furnishings etc and at one point the roof started leaking 😁. If you want a genuine historical, glastonbury experience- this is the place 👌

The staff made our stay. Special mention to Julie & Leon in the bar. Wren and Trish at Breakfast and Jack who seemed to be everywhere. Our housekeeper was also super kind and helpful but we didn't get her name. The hotel is super clean, the food for me was top notch and position of the hotel couldn't be better. Parking was also easy.

2 members of our party had some mobility issues. This was a slight problem as all of the flooring was uneven (due to the age of the hotel), and there wasn't a lift. The stairs were steep, and the handrail was very low, making coming down the stairs difficult. We did get help taking cases upstairs by the incredibly helpful staff. We had two rooms, only one had a walk-in shower. Please bear this in mind when booking.

The room was extremely charming being small without suffocating and cozy without feeling like you were being swallowed whole. The huge wooden beam running the length of the ceiling was extremely comforting and the window, although small, helped maintain the sense of privacy. Also the slight slant in the bathroom due to the ancient age of the property was genuinely fun, highly recommend socks for maximum slide.

It was a shame that there seemed to have been a couple of staff missing leaving remaining staff to scrabble a bit, despite obviously being quite over-worked they were really friendly, willing to help and nothing was too much to ask. They were trying really, really hard.

Room was old but very charming. I was in the Henry the VIII room and it was lovely. I do think the mattress was larger than the bed frame but it was still comfortable. The bathroom size was small but just fine for me. The floors do creek a bit when you walk and the carpet did look old but blended in well with the decor and feel of the room. After all, it is a very old structure and those things are to be expected. All of the staff members were very helpful, kind and truly charming and wonderful, and I loved that I was called, "my lovely!" I know that they said that to others, but it still made me feel special.

No pancakes were available nor Eggs Benedict during my stay, but the breakfast I did have on each morning was tasty and will made. I had hoped for the large room with a bay window but it was unavailable. Despite that, the room was lovely and just fine. Also, I do wish that the orange juice was fresh squeezed and not squeezed out of a box. I did, however find fresh orange juice at the Coop Market, so all good.

Positioned right in the heart of the high street. Ample parking behind the property, but paying. All day parking will cost £6.50 but that's not uncommon these days. Very atmospheric building dating back over 600 years.

Room prices are okay, veering towards overpriced, but you are staying in a 15th century hotel with bags of character, and there's a uniqueness to every room. I just thought I'd stayed in much better for the same price, but I think it does cater for the one off holiday maker, rather than the weekend break Brit. Access for disabilities can be a challenge. Can get very busy in the bar, but generally is okay and doesn't close too late, so is generally peaceful after 11. Staff were okay, not over friendly, but seemingly few and looked quite stretched at times. Food isn't exceptional, and again maybe overpriced considering the competition elsewhere in town. Plenty of cafes offering a wide menu, so you'd be silly not to sample those.

The property is amazing, truly beautiful and we have stayed here many times.

Normally we don’t have breakfast included so thought it would be a treat. Unfortunately it tainted the experience. The staff are usually wonderful and we never have an issue. However the two older ladies hosting breakfast were rude, in complimentary about our perfume, did not explain our options, made us wait for ages outside to be seated when there were many empty tables, while she stood and chatted to a table for ages. They are the only thing to let the wonderfulness of the beautiful place down.
