A great place to stay. Room was surprisingly spacious, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The rooms are in a separate building to the pub so it’s nice and quiet. Very peaceful at night, you don’t get any road noise and you’re away from the high street in a nice quiet street. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was really good, we only ate dinner there but it was really good home cooked food, and very good value for money. Nice to have a coffee machine in the room too which we didn’t expect. Overall excellent value and would stay again. We stayed with our little dog and it’s a very dog friendly pub, and the beer garden is just outside of the rooms so it’s not far to take them out for a wee.

We both had the full English which was nicely presented and had everything you could want. The only change we would have made was the sausages which were standard catering ones,a local butchers sausage would have been much better. The location was good for what we wanted to do which was go to the giant flea market at the Bath and West showground which was about 15 mins.drive away. Our room was clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable.A big bonus for us is that it is pet friendly and there was even a nice park nearby to take our little dog to stretch her legs.We had dinner on the night we stayed which it was excellent and good value for money.

There was a fridge in the room which was disturbing at night as it switched on and off but would be convenient for someone staying more than one night to keep dog food etc. fresh and prevent smells so on the whole it was better to have it there.

The People were friendly. Breakfast was excellent - we both had a cooked breakfast. The room was set away from the main pub in a converted coach house so was quiet. The shower was a powerful experience which was an unexpected bonus in a cosy stay. Location was convenient and actually suited us better to be out of Glastonbury by a few minutes. The whole experience was a pleasant surprise. If you are a history enthusiast this will delight you because there are lots of details about King Alfred. We will definitely stay there again.

There was nothing about this stay over which we didn't like - it was all brilliant.

The accommodation was a short walk to town centre and Clark’s Village shopping centre. We had a very friendly welcome from Debs and Josh, we had a ground floor room. It was on the small side but very clean. The food was very good and cooked to order. There was plenty of choice on the main dining menu, and there was also a large specials board. I had Mac and cheese, the portion was really big and I couldn’t eat it all. Really good hosts.

The door to the room was not very secure. The two nights we stayed there were skittle matches, the first night was noisy, did say about this the next morning and A word was had with the team and things were a lot less noisy.

What can I say, lovley people, down to earth, don't sit on your shoulders but are really helpful. Food was amazing, room was great, bathroom was huge, I'm a big guy and I fitted in shower no probs. Bed and bedding AMAZING, so so so comfortable and warm. No noise outside, pity its in Street, not the most glamorous place. But no faults at all, breakfast AMAZING, Evening meal beautiful, room and surroundings, veiw on the courtyard. No faults apart from no HD on TV, but it worked perfectly and really fast WiFi.

Mmmmmmmm not a lot, I'd say the tv, to small and old, but please it works great and has a good picture and sound. Well worth it for a night away.

The room was well equipped, bed super comfy & nice shower. Plenty of tea & coffee in the room & we were offered a small breakfast basket in our room on the morning we couldn't make breakfast in the pub. Few minutes walk to shops & Clarks Village and main bus stops close by to many different locations. Deb greeted us with a smile every day. We've stayed in various places in Street & this is one of our faves.

We can't think of anything to report that we could have a grumble about.

*Location *Value for money *Cleanliness *Loxley…the owner & chef *Food *Kitchen and serving staff *The shower

*The drinkers sitting immediately outside our ground floor bedroom…perhaps move those picnic tables. *The unfriendly, unhelpful female bar staff member who seemed only interested in talking to the locals. This was in stark contrast to all other members of staff, who were just great.

Staff very friendly. Landlord and landlady were great. Very social pub loved it the room was good. Everything you could except. One prob was the green light showing the door in emergency it was too bright but otherwise everything was spot on. I will def use this place again if I'm that way. Also only short walk to the shops restaurants and pubs

Emergency light in room. Too bright. But that's it

Excellent evening meal and 'homely' bar atmosphere. Clearly a very popular local pub as well as a hotel. Breakfast was ample and tasty, but rather 'casually' presented. Good to have free, safe, off-road parking. Super bed!

The breakfast tables (with menu) should really have been laid properly, ready for our arrival at 8am - this would have made a more 'professional' impression? The food itself was fine.

It was great it had parking & was close to our destination, shops etc, it has a good selection of tea/coffee & biscuits in the rooms, clean bedding & towels are provided.

I always feel bad writing negative comments but I guess it’s how we improve things, our room wasn’t ready on arrival but they were kind & let us store our overnight bags there, the fridge in the bedroom is very noisy it kicks in & is loud throughout the night, the walls are thin we could hear talking & dogs barking, luckily I’m a dog lover so didn’t bother me that much but it would of annoyed others. The breakfast wasn’t great..sorry, we sat at a dirty table which hadn’t been cleaned from the party that previous night, it wasn’t expensive to stay here & the breakfast was included so I understand why it was so small but I’d happily pay more for a better breakfast.
